I'm hoping we pick up one new player who doesn't project to play in preseason game #3.  Is that too high a bar?

Put it another way.....the Eagles got Baun for 17 million a year....I was going through the NFL Free Agency list on signings....and Baun who was top 5 for Defensive Player of the Year got that...while it seems washed out scrubs and no names are all getting 15 million a year.  Nope....no thank you.  Again, not glamorous, not exciting but they are absolutely doing the right thing.  Get the spending under control, you have literally Mailata, Dickerson, Hurts, Brown, Smith, Johnson locked up on offense and you know they are going to lock up Jurgens.  And focus on Carter, Smith, Dean, Coop and Q coming up......and then fill with 20 draft picks in the next two drafts, 11 in the first 4 rounds/17 in the first 5 rounds.

And yes, it's almost impossible to keep drafting successfully at the rate they've been going at....but even if they can go at a 50% clip instead of 100% like they have, this team is positioned to just keep on going!

Howie read the market and while we definitely lost really good to good players, Howie had his finger on the pulse.  For the $$, the only guy I truly wish we signed was Burks.  Rodgers a close 2nd, but you can see the strategy: low cost veteran back ups that won't be here for 2026 when this group of 2025 draft picks are entering their 2nd year.

I think the Eagles will be drafting WR in 2026 anticipating positional turnover in a year or two while having to pay Mitchell/Dejean/Cater/Smith/ Mailata/Dickerson and maybe Ojomo/Hunt extensions.

Davis is a bit of a contract mystery right now.

If we don't re-sign Becton you might only be looking at a 6th rd comp pick, possibly a 5 at best.

II understand that comp picks are nice and all but at some point they have to look at the value a player brings on Sundays. I'm 100% on board with the plan to maximize the amount of core players you can keep here, so I'm not too worried about the moves so far. Even a 4th round comp pick (which is basically 135-140) isn't worth the value of a mauler at RG.

This is... bizarre

Just spreads the signing bonus over the years.   So, $150k this year, and $600k dead next year.    Makes him cost only about 2/3 of the cost on this year's cap.

I know it sucks we aren't signing everyone and their mothers but.....is it just me or does this years free agency class just suck?  Meaning all of these NFL teams signing all of these players to big contracts are just pissing money away or signing to sign players?

The Eagles had the best roster top to bottom EASILY last year.  Yes, they've lost players off of their defense but....when you look at it, they still have the best roster, one of the youngest rosters if not the youngest rosters in the NFL.  Yes, maybe the gap of best roster to others has decreased but they are doing the right thing.

They needed to reign in the spending with Jurgens, Blankenship, Carter, Smith (and eventually Q and Coop) extensions on the horizon. We've seen in the past coming off the '18 Super Bowl keeping all of you older players and what happens....no thank you.

While it isn't exciting or glamorous, I do think the Eagles and Howie are doing the smart thing.  HOPEFULLY, they can keep their draft mojo going because the next two years can set them up for the next 5 to 10.  I know...it's a big IF!

Kinda where I’m at. I’m not doing cartwheels over this offseason, but the fact that we just won the Super Bowl, and re-signing Baun has me pretty content right now. I’m not that high or low on anything else.

I agree.  If the 4th is used in 2026 as part of a package to move up to draft another mauler RG, maybe.  But for me, Becton is worth way more than an end of 4th round 2026 pick.

Yeah.   I've given up being upset about the void years... it really just matters how much money he is spreading out not how he is.   I still think they vastly overpaid Cox for his return in that last season he was here.  Uche's deal isn't big enough to worry about.   They are on the hook $1.25M if he can't stick through TC.   Other than that... its not worth worrying about.  I'm guessing they felt the need to give him that size signing bonus to land him and not lose out on that lottery ticket.  If we get similar production from him this year that they got from Huff last year... that's a major improvement in terms of ROI.

That Huff deal though... I do wonder what they are going to do with that/him.

That plays into it, but the cost of the RG also plays into it.  How much can they realistically afford to invest there when considering all the other investments along the line AND the upcoming deal for Jurgens?   I think it's much more about the number for Becton than gaining an extra comp pick.   Meanwhile, the OTHER deals are about not canceling out comp picks, if it can be avoided.

I actually think it is.

It sure looks like they are protecting their comp picks and are trying to maximize them. Right now they are projected 3 with Becton still in the air. If Becton comes back, they will probably protect the 3 they have. If Becton leaves, they may then be a bit more comfortable signing someone bigger. I really think they are going to lean heavily on their young guys and the draft.

Best I can do is Matt Pryor

Modern movies suck. It's basically all doom and gloom, comic book multi universe crap or unneeded remake etc. We don't get any new original comedies or action movies. The last movie I truly got excited about was Top Gun Maverick. Coincidentally, this is from Jerry Bruckheimer too. Should be a good one.

I'm a huge aviation nerd. 🤷‍♂️ Also love the amount of practical effects and real flying that was done in the movie. There was incredible film making used to make TGM.

I understand how it works, I just think it's weird when it's such a small signing to begin with.

At this point in the process, I'm genuinely surprised Becton is still a UFA.

I don’t get it. Best I can think of is either he’s trying to play tackle at tackle money or the knee has bigger issues than we thought

Nothing against Top Gun.  It's just funny to see you mock how all new movies are rehashed nostalgia circle jerks, then immediately pivot to how much you liked a nostalgic circle jerk sequel released 35 years after the original

I watched the Eagle Eye Podcast last night and they raised some good points about Betcont.

-how much of his success was Jeff Stoutland?

-how much of his success was playing between Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson?

-is his knee OK?

-do teams view him as a RG now or is he still being viewed as a T?

-how much is Becton asking for?

Eh, I view remakes and nostalgic sequel as a different thing. I can see how it seems a bit hypocritical but I look at them in two totally different ways.

Here's another.

I am actually excited for this:

In theory, should be a decent film as they spent a lot of time dong practical effects and not just green screen ish.  They actually modified F2 cars for that movie as the F1 cars are a bit too much for us plebs to drive.  They did a lot filming in and around race weekends so again, the crowd stuff is real.  Let's see if its any good when people actually see it

My one movie request: can we please stop casting Tom Cruise as a badass?

Eagles signed a long snapper apparently. 34 years old from the Browns
