Thanks for LII and LIX, Rick.

Modern movies suck. It's basically all doom and gloom, comic book multi universe crap or unneeded remake etc. We don't get any new original comedies or action movies. The last movie I truly got excited about was Top Gun Maverick. Coincidentally, this is from Jerry Bruckheimer too. Should be a good one.

That's because budgets for movies have gone insane at the same time as the public's entertainment budget has been shrinking like never before with prices going up all over the world, so the studio's are playing it safe, Warner Brothers did try a new IP with Mickey 17 and it looks like it's going to lose a boatload of money, which pretty much ensures the diet of reboots, remakes and sequels is going to continue for the foreseeable.

I hope to win enough of these that I can keep it going every offseason until I die of a massive heart attack during an Eagles game.

I don’t think there are legit movie stars anymore. There are actors who star in movies and are famous, but they don’t really carry movies anymore. It used to be appointment viewing when certain A-listers had a movie come out — Cruise, Smith to name a couple.

I’m not sure if it’s just a matter of so much media available to consume, not wanting to pay to see movies in theaters when you can stream it a month later or just a general lack of interest in sitting through 2-3 hour movies.

Strongly disagree but this isn't the thread for that

This is just my opinion, but I think your second sentence nails it. It seems that movies are being made to be streamed now rather than be viewed in a theater so the use of CGI is more commonplace.

CGI isn't just used used for over the top impossible scenes anymore but it's being used to create entire movie sets and backgrounds. Live sets aren't being used like they used to. Studios have completely bulldozed their true to scale cities, towns and neighborhoods that could all be transformed to fit any genre and are replacing them with enormous green screen sound stages.

The more practical effects are replaced with CGI, the worse movies seem to get. CGI is fantastica and should be used when needed. The fact that it's being used for so much, however, is a bad thing. Use CGI to compliment practical sets and effects, not replace them.

Parasite was just mentioned. Even the house is CGI.

The Eagles are signing  34 year old long snappers and 3rd string TE. Movies are welcome right now!

Is this unusual?  We had seven starters on defense playing on their rookie deals - Carter, Williams, Smith, Dean, Mitchell, Blankenship, DeJean (not including Davis, Ojomo, and Hunt).

We had another two/three on offense - Jurgens, Dotson/Calcaterra.

It seems to predict that after they finish reloading the defense this draft, the next few years will go back to the offense.

 How is that a gotcha moment with the quote when Hurts at one point was the highest paid player

He didn't take less to help build the team

Pretty sure what they're ragging Williams over is coming off winning the Superbowl barely a month ago (ie reaching the pinnacle of achievement in your sport) and saying that briefly becoming the Patriots highest paid player ever is the biggest moment of his life.

It's not claiming that Hurts turned down a big contract, just that when it came to his ambitions for the sport he had them in the traditional order of priority.

I see Will Johnson (CB Michigan) slipping in a few mocks into the 20's.  Would you be upset if we traded up some to get him?

Also Mike Green the Edge from Marshall apparently had a sexual assault charge in High School and another one while he was at UVA.  Chiefs or Cowboys?

I am pretty sure a Lombardi trophy sitting in the trophy case inside Lincoln Financial field wouldnt change my life as much as 100+ million dollars would.

Lombardi is a biggest moment of career. Life changing money of generational wealth proportions qualifies as a strong contender as the biggest day of ones life imo.

It's not about money while signing the biggest contract in history at the time

I would be upset at trading up to take another corner, yes. Not least because the chances of you landing 3 starting caliber corners in 2 drafts are astronomical. I don't see us taking any DB position in the first.

I'm hoping we pick up one new player who doesn't project to play in preseason game #3.  Is that too high a bar?

Maybe our first round pick

No idea if this would even play a factor, but it would potentially line the Eagles up to have to pay three massive extensions over a two year period at cornerback if the player hits. That might not be tenable, but maybe it’s just a "good problem to have.”

A fair number of action stars do their own stunts. I know Cruise was notorious for it in his career, but he's over 60 and 5"7 at best. It's time to move on.

5'7'' when he's jumping on couches

Not only is it not time to move on from Tom Cruise but he's planning on doing a movie filmed in outer space where he does his own outer space stunts. Tom Cruise is the action GOAT and I'll be damned if I tolerate any Tom Cruise slander. Dude is single handedly keeping movie theaters alive by being the star of the only movies actually worth seeing as a theater experience rather than streaming at home.

So far doing my research (FWIW) two names have stood out to me that I'd really like to have on this team ...  Fadil Diggs DE from Syracuse and Ollie Gordon II the RB from Oklahoma State.

Who would you suggest we have as a badass? One thing you have to respect about Tom Cruise is that he does all of his own stunts, real stunts. How many guys are going to hang outside of a cargo plane taking off? That's pretty badass if you ask me.

I also meant that sincerely. What modern actors are going out there and doing that? Who could be a next in line actor to take on these roles?

Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson took their Honda Civic with some aftermarket parts and flew it into space. I don't see Tom Cruise doing that.

I still don’t totally believe the CJGJ deal was just money. I understand the future savings but they unloaded him fast for next to nothing. Felt like they wanted to get rid of him and took what they could get.   Left a huge hole in secondary. I didn’t even think he was that good but there’s a hole now

There are always holes in the offseason … for all teams.  A lot of those holes get fixed, but some of them persist into the regular season.  We as Eagles fans are very lucky, our team has very few holes compared to others.

Will Johnson would be a fantastic pick.
