No idea but I my guess is probably around 9 but it wouldn’t shock me if lower. People thought the longer he lingered eagles had a shot but I figured once it was too long it was clear they weren’t even bidding. They might have offered a 1-yr deal

Ultimately the eagles got the 2 most important guys back. Zach Baun and Ben VanSumeren 😀

Seriously I hope they’ve bottomed out now. The expectation is this was all done to sign everyone else and maybe add a little something on D

I f'in hate the off-season we have had.

You better not F this up like you did in 2018 and 2023, Howie.

RIP in peace

It wasn't though, the pass blocking was occasionally shaky all season, sometimes Hurts would have all day, other times he'd have a free rusher inside a second. The interior line was a step back from the Dickerson, Kelce, Jurgens of the previous year.

Don't get me wrong it was still a way better OLine than the vast majority of the league, but Saquon is so much better than Swift it made the line look better than previous years when it wasn't.

What an absolute disaster.  Big step back coming next season

Completely disagree, yes it's disappointing that we couldn't keep Williams, Sweat and Becton....we all knew Slay was going to be a June 1st designation, the only surprise in my mind was CJGJ.

The Eagles last year may have been better at almost every position against every team they played, that rarely happens.  This team is the youngest now in the NFL.  They are still stacked on offense and Steen will step right in for Becton.

Now on defense, they have lost a ton.  But, let's not forget, at the core of their defense the have Davis and Carter in the middle with Hunt and Smith on the ends.  Baun is back (thank god) and you have Trotter until Dean is back.  Finally, the secondary with Blankenship, Brown, Q and Coop adding in Ringo should still be elite.

You cannot pay everyone, let me ask you a question....So let's say they brought back Williams, Sweat and Becton but then couldn't extend Jurgens and Carter....you'd be ok with that?  Relax, Howie told you this was going to happen.  They have 20 picks in the next 2 years, they definitely need to hit on half to rebuild depth.   And let's add, the money being paid to Meh players is just beyond ridiculous.  But take a look around the NFL, what teams, even as the Eagles are currently constructed are potentially better than them?  In the NFC you can say that the Rams, Commanders, maybe Packers, Detroit and Minnesota are all playoff contenders but would you take any of their rosters over the Eagles?  Nope!  The AFC has the Bengals, Ravens, Chargers, Bills, Chiefs but you don't have to worry about them until the Super Bowl.

And before you say, the Eagles schedule is brutal....the whole NFC East basically plays the same schedule.

Finally, they have won 2 Super Bowls and been to a 3rd in the last 7 years!!

We were told to expect a lot of changes and I'm being patient. Howie has earned our trust for the time being. My hope is he's not getting too cocky thinking every move he makes is magic. We're not even a full week in to FA and there's A LOT of time left and we know Howie is going to wheel and deal. With that being said, I hope there's more to the plan then adding absolute bottom of the roster players at 1-year deals. I'd say of the 8 players signed so far, 2 or 3 make the team. None of them are locks, not even the long snapper.

These are just my early assumptions at percent change their FA makes the team. What will be interesting is to see how much money could be wasted on guys they signed and don't make the team. What is that value and what could it have been used on?

AJ Dillon 99%- Is Dillon 100% healthy as he says with no setbacks?

Josh Uche 85%- A lot depends on what happens with Huff, the remaining FA (namely Ojulari) and the draft. Could have a huge role, or could be back on the streets.

Harrison Bryant 50%- TE3 hinges on what happens with Goedert and the draft. He's nothing more than TE3. Very well could be TE 4/5 PS guy.

Adoree Jackson 85%- Reports are he's here to compete with Ringo. If he beats Ringo, that does not bode well for the Eagles. Best case, Jackson is CB5.

Charley Hugheltt 50%- The Eagles have already scouted college LOS's and Hughlettt is 34. i'd imagine they want a long-term solution for consistency.

Avery Williams 50%- His film is some of the most uninspiring return film I've watched for a guy who had a decent return average. Ainias Smith is his competition. Smith saves a roster spot.

Patrick Johnson 50%- name familiarity but will there be room? If Huff and Uche are here along with a draft pick or two. Johnson is a good PS guy to have around.

Kylen Granson 35%- Another lackluster on field performer. He'll be TE 4/5 on the PS and called up if needed.

I expected to lose everybody except Baun and I thought they’d re-sign Rodgers. Then I didn’t expect CJGJ trade. So I’m most worried about secondary right now. Adore Jackson is a nothing move.  Not panicking but need to see some real additions at some point

#SteenEra

Grab a quality OG in RD3 or RD4 for depth and to challenge if Steen struggles.

Dylan Fairchild, Georgia

Luke Kandra, Cincinnati

They got him last year. His name is Trevor Keegan.

The one lottery ticket that I have the most hope for is Uche.

He has the tools.

We'll see about the money, but letting Becton walk was what I wanted. We have to get younger/cheaper on the OL.

It's not like we can't develop guards either.

If we're being honest with ourselves, even if we understand the need to sign the core group over the next couple of years, everything about the CJGJ trade sucks. The question remains, why not wait until next year to move him? There are fan theories that he wanted a new contract, but who knows. There's as much truth to that as there is that Becton was ever viewed as the eventual replacement for Lane Johnson.,

The defense is worse without him. We all went back and forth about the succession plan of Ojomo and Hunt once Williams and Sweat were gone, but even for a guy like me who thinks Cine can be a player and Brown could be good, there is no succession plan behind CJGJ that keeps this defense on the same level.

I have to trust Howie has a plan and we've only seen about the beginning of it.

I have full confidence in Steen taking over. Becton was an incredible story and someone that was easy to cheer for. It seemed like he truly wanted to be here and was a likeable guy, but at some point, if you drafted a guy in the 3rd round to be a starter, he's shown he can, and can give you two years on a rookie contract...well you just have to go with that guy.

I think we're going to see Becton went to LA on a pretty inexpensive contract and there will be some upset that the Eagles didn't match it. They probably aren't getting any kind of valuable comp pick for him either.

Again, keep telling ourselves, this is the plan if we want the young group on defense to stay together.

One more thing, and it's been discussed by some of us on here and that's Trevor Keegan. He didn't show much of anything as a rookie, but I just have a gut feeling that if he gets on the field, whatever the reason, he's not coming off. He has the tools to be an everyday lunch pail RG.

If it’s low money I have to think the knee injury is a major concern. People are really under selling how good Becton was this past year. Despite the narrative, he was good in pass pro and dominant in the run game. He’s young and a physical unicorn.

If it’s $7 or $8 million, I truly do not understand not bringing him back unless there were long term injury concerns or the projected money Howie expects to pay to Carter, Davis, Smith, Dean, Ringo, Blankenship, etc. is truly outrageous.

Not surprising.

Steen time, rookie deal. Extension for Jurgens. Eventually Lane's replacement on rookie deal.

That will be useful when we can’t afford Steen down the road (fingers crossed).

Given that aside from Baun the entire defense is on rookie contacts or vet minimums, I figure austerity will be the name of the game moving forward to hold on to the players we have.

They didn’t even trust Keegan in week 18 when the starters were benched.

Yes, he has some physical talent, and yes, Stoutland is a good coach, but that wasn’t encouraging at all.

Two things are buoying me through this period:

1. Howie is a made man, deserves some leeway, and I don't think anything that has happened has been unforeseen.

2. Player development.  We've seen the team make a concerted effort to bring players along on their own schedule.  Now we have a bunch of young guys that could easily make a big jump with a little playing time, a la Nolan Smith or Jalen Carter:  Trotter, Johnny Wilson, Sydney, Booker, Keegan, Kinnard, Shipley, Ricks, Ringo, BVS, even Ainias Smith.

Then there are guys who are already contributors and could reasonably be expected to get better:  Ojomo, Steen, Hunt....it's crazy to think eve Quinyon and Cooper could get even better.

The well is far from dry and IMO this is the ideal way to sustain success.  Churning the roster with cheap draft picks and letting them develop into valuable contributors we can either flip or retain long term.

Kinda weird it’s been over a half hour and Schefter or no one else confirmed it. It’s late but he’s one of the bigger FA’s left

Very true. He's a large human being.

Michigan pedigree.  He had very much a Jon Runyan mentality.

I basically agree, I guess we should just be happy they even signed Baun at this point. But I'm blaming Jeff not Howie. He's going off Jeff's instruction on how to budget and handle the offseason going into the next few years. I just hope the low spending has nothing to do with a new stadium or the Celtics.

Steen isn't any better in the pass blocking and Green was worse than both.

I wonder if we held a little money for Becton and now that that's settled we can either pay Goedert, or someone like Ojilari.

I also wonder if Goedert prefers to move on to an offense that utilizes the TE more in the passing game.

I don’t like it.  But they are defending SB champs.  I normally hate when people say this…but let it play out.  There is no room to criticize given the recent track record.
