I'm feeling very comfortable as an Eagles fan as ILB is clearly the biggest weakness on this roster. Some things just feel natural.

I'm out on Asante, small and not very physical. Definitely in on Azeez but he will interfere with our comp picks which seems to be priority.

Now that our Free Agency losses are known, Howie kicks into Trader Howie mode.  Let’s say Howie brings in Ojulari for less than $18 AAV. That qualifies on the Comp Pick Cancellation table as a 5th round pick, canceling out the Becton 5th.  So what Howie would be doing is effectively trading a next year’s 5th for Ojulari.  That’s a very reasonable trade in my opinion.

Ojulari isn't getting 10 at this point I think.  I would only take him at a discount.  He needs a prove it year

I thought one SB would allow me to die without regret, but two of them make me realize God does love me on occasion.   The Eagles still have one of the most balanced, talented teams.  Could easily see a SB repeat this season.  No doubt we have lost talent, but no team in this league was as prepared as the Eagles to manage the exodus.  In fact, they planned it.  Just wild.

No other team could lose or ever has lost what we have lost and still be considered a SB contender, which we are.  They would all be considered to be rebuilding.

The Eagles have top 5 players at LT, LG, RT, RB, WR, DT, LB, Nickel CB, and CB.  Top 10 at QB, TE, C, WR.  All after losing starting DE, DT, CB, S, and RG in the past 5 days. It's f-ing amazing.

This chart posted last week gives a visual take on your last paragraph

Ojulari is a rotational jag who became a buzz name in our mock offseasons.  If he falls out of a tree and lands here for nothing, cool.  If we give up a resource to get him, not cool.  And if he lands somewhere else, I don’t care.

Wouldn't hate Rasul Douglas on a very small deal.  Isn't great but has a nose for ball and he's competent at a minimum

If he is 8 or under, then the cancellation would be for the Rodgers 6th round comp pick, making the trade equivalent even better.

The longer he waits, the less he gets until after the draft if other teams miss.

Can you add PR and KR?

That chart gives me seizures.

On paper, the Eagles are bad at edge, safety, and CB2.

Nolan Smith…I’m his biggest fan.  But he still isn’t fully proven AND is recovering from a fairly major injury.

Jalyx Hunt?  I’m a believer.  But he’s far from proven as a Sweat replacement.

Huff?  Nothing to rehash here.

I believe in the top 2, but this is actually a really tenuous situation on paper.  Far worse than LB…a non rotating position where you’ve got an all-pro, a proven starter coming off injury, and a draft pick everyone is excited to see.

CB2?  I also like Ringo.  But I’m scared.  He has barely played.  And Jackson can fill in but he should not be starting.

S?  I like Brown too.  But see above.  And Blankenship looks great making plays surrounded by coverage studs.  When the coverage falls apart (see 2023), he looks like a liability too.

So, for me, off ball LB isn’t even the slightest consideration.  It’s all about DE/S/CB.

18? Comparing him as a player to the money guys in his skill range are getting, he should be in the 5-8m AAV range. If the Eagles can't afford that, I honestly don't know what to say.

Would Ojulari come here to be a backup? Hes not going to be a starter here.

ILB is going to be an interesting watch.  I’m not sure whether Uche is in that mix or not.

I concur though with Uche/Huff maybe you can hope for some production from 1.    Like others I like Ringo more than Brown though I think Brown's late injury in 23 shouldn't be forgotten.  Maybe he steps up or maybe Cine does but I'm not loving the odds there

The reason I chose 18 and 8 was because those are the current cut offs for moving up on on the OverTheCap comp pick cancellation chart.  Any signing between 18 and 8 is a 5th Rounder on their chart, which of course is an educated guess on their part.

Road tripping to Austin, Texas with the family. First stop on our way down is for BBQ in Kansas City. I’ll have my Eagles gear and I made sure my son brought his SB champions hat. At first he thought it was "too braggy” to wear it in KC. He’s much nicer than me.

I live in Wichita KS, havent taken my eagles hoodie off since the Super bowl.

Its not braggie it just good ol eagle Pride.💪🏆

EDGE is likely going to be our 1st rounder, so you'll get your wish.

Smith/Hunt will be fine. We just need Huff to be an "ok" DPR and we're fine for 2025. If we trade Huff though, then we really are thin at EDGE.

2021

DeVonta Smith

Landon Dickerson

Milton Williams

2022

Jordan Davis

Cam Jurgens

Nakobe Dean

2023

Jalen Carter

Nolan Smith

Tyler Steen

Sydney Brown

2024

Quinyon Mitchell

Cooper DeJean

Jalyx Hunt

This is an insanely good track record for the draft. It should be clear that the FO is looking to build through the draft and plugging holes with low level FA's. They finally have a DC that can identify talent and maximize their abilities.

I think a lot of the 2025 season will be determined by Barkley, Ringo, Nolan Smith, and Jordan Davis.

Can Barkley replicate that?  Can he do it with a more normal RG?

Can Ringo play at (old) Slay’s level?

Can Jordan Davis fulfill his potential and be a full time player?

Can Nolan Smith routinely be the player he was down the stretch last year?

If we have positive answers to these questions, the Eagles are going to be every bit as good as last year.  (I realize we are making changes elsewhere too…but I think it’s actually less important).  If we have negative answers, they will fall off hard.

And that really depends on who we already have in house.  So why spend money and resources on band aids if the onus is really on the guys that are already here?

I'd definitely take Ojulari but not for anything more than 14, 15 mil. Even that seems a bit high at this stage. Howie did make a point to say things will look differently this year and moves can be made later on. I wonder if there's some significant moves after June 1st.

We haven't had a consistent RG since 2019. We also haven't had a bad RG situation in that time either. Bummer about Becton, but I think we'll be OK with whatever Stout cooks up. Much more concerned about the secondary and EDGE openings. Although I think Ringo is going to surprise some people.

He can easily win a spot. Hunt isn't being guaranteed that job.
