We all know we have an idea of what the plan is, but this is hardly inspiring to read.

The bad news is that, besides Dillon, these guys all suck.  If any of them have to play meaningful snaps, we’ll all feel the sting.

The good news is that the Eagles have significant freshly drafted talent standing between all of these lousy additions and a meaningful role.

Like I said yesterday, will you two please get a room.

FWIW there are good points in each of your positions.  And beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Also what’s done is done.  Howie has made our decision for us.

He is too poor to be my type 😁😜

pounding the same opinion as narrative might work to convince dummy trump voters, but the mark of analytical thought is to always maintain you might be wrong bc you are always working from a weak, subjective set of info.

i get the fascination with what he might be or could be. He has remarkable physical traits even amongst the freaks of the NFL. But at the end of the day that doesnt matter. The play/results are all that matters.

nfl teams, including his own, have far more info and expertise and they just showed you what they think. They didnt think he could be the RT of the future.

Meh. Even if you just get replacement level play from a few thats a win

The goal is that none of them will play to provide that replacement level play.  Except Dillon.

Nah if that were the goal you never sign them.

I didn’t read article but I think LS obviously is a replacement. And I’d say the TEs could be better than what we had behind Goedert. But beyond that yeah. Literally none of these guys got paid much of anything and the track record on guys at this level is bad

All of these guys are proven NFL players and are at worst good special team additions and filling in for injured guys for a little while. The Bectons or Bauns of this bunch probably won't happen. Only ones that actually may make a noticeable impact as top backups are Dillon, Uche & Jackson. There's still a few more more signees to come post June 1st. I look at these guys as adding to the overall depth and creating healthy competition, not necessarily replacing any starters. That will be provided in house and through the draft.

Dillon and Uche making the team and contributing is my biggest hope. The rest can be on the PS if needed.

-I'd rather have an UDFA or late round draft pick that can be the LS for years to come, instead of a 34 year old former Brown who has no long-term  future here.

-I'm more excited to see Cameron Latu EJ Jenkins and Nick Muse than I am either of the TE brought in.

-Avery Williams looks completely lackluster. I'd rather Will Shipley still return kicks and see what Ainias Smith can do at PR, or draft a player that can contribute and be a returner. If you're going to waste a roster spot on a guy purely as KR/PR, he better be Eric Metcalf, or at least Allen Rossum.

- Seeing some Philly beat writers suggest that Adoree Jackson is here to possibly start scares the crap out of me. If that's the case, I'm drafting a CB in the 1st.

Would say that Johnson, Hughlett, Bryant and Dillon all could contribute.  Maybe Uche too but perhaps someone on the board knows him better.  4 out of 10 for basically peanuts is a pretty good batting average.

This is Howie's MO every season, have a veteran in place to fill every spot, including most top backup spots.

Let them compete with 2nd and 3rd year players, both backups and off the PS. So Green v Steen v Keegan for RG.

Meanwhile, draft picks are generally "red shirted" unless they push their way into a starting job. Mitchell, DeJean, Carter a tier or two above most draft picks.

By December, many rookies have a full pre-season and 12 weeks of practice and coaching and will push their way into more PT.

He tried a different kind of a happy ending.

Tied the knot instead of tried to nut...

Jalyx Hunt, Sidney Brown, Steen, and Ringo are all very talented 3rd round picks.  Everyone is making so much of getting the coveted 3rd round comp pick from all the departures.  We literally have four 3rd round picks waiting to play.

No one should be pulling for these veteran additions to get playing time.  They are insurance against plan A, which is our own draft picks.

Dillon might be the most sure thing to make the roster IF the eagles dont draft a RB.

But Id really like to see Shipley prove he can handle RB2. And then, Im not opposed to Henderson in the draft (he looks like the true RB1 of the class), or a guy like Jarquez Hunter beating out Dillon for RB3.

If they draft a RB, I can easily see Dillon getting beat out by the young guys.

The rationale I can get behind is that the Eagles, while they will be very good next year, are backing resources off a 2025 season that will see them very, very unlikely to repeat no matter how many players they sign in the offseason.

Very, very unlikely?  Who pissed in your Cheerios this morning?

I have said this before, and I stand 100% behind it … 2025 will yield a back to back SB win.

JMO

Id like to think that after the coaching job by Hurtt last year, we are going to get a good season out of Uche. That signing has the biggest homerun potential.

I think Ollie Gordon could be an absolute steal

Adoree Jackson is still a solid football player.

Yes.  58th out of 223.  That's pretty good.  On a bad team.

Daily reminder:

Last March the Eagles signed:

    • OL Matt Hennessy, cut in August.

    • Huff: barely saw the field

    • Devin White, cut in October

    • CB Tyler Hall, placed on IR then released, now with Seattle

    • DT PJ Mustipher, cut in August

They signed Baun and everyone said "who???" They signed Becton, a bust reclamation project.

Everyone said we're screwed at corner. Then they drafted Q and DeJean, Rodgers looked good in practice and then half the fans said let's trade Rodgers because we are stacked at corner.

A lot can change with other free agents signed, the draft and August cuts.

He might be CB4, so that's actually really good for a backup CB.

Yes.  I just hope he doesn't have to play much. Because then, someone is injured.  I'd like to just see him possibly win a return job.  Or both of them.

This is a pretty good list. I respect someone actually putting some thought into an article rather than rehashing quotes

https://phillysportsnetwork.com/2025/03/16/eagles-free-agency-fit/

Key quote (IMO) in the article is "Each external free agent that the Eagles have signed is on a one-year deal. It’s clear that Roseman believesin the culture in Philadelphia and that the franchise can help maximize the talent of these young players that have struggled to do so elsewhere around the NFL.”

I would add that grabbing eight of these one year prove it contracts is a strength rather than wandering in the wilderness.  Smart roulette players place multiple bets on the board at the same time.  Som will lose but the chances of them all losing are minimized, and the amount won will exceed the amount bet.

Yes.  And has experience and is cheap.  Now we are up to 5 out of 10 signings that could contribute.  And maybe more.  Eagles are dumb like a fox.

With inside outside versatility. He will come in handy.
