Eagles will probably draft a guard. First round I'll be pretty pissed, but they'll draft one most likely. If not I think they'll give Green every opportunity to win the job and hope Stout can coach him up and maximize his physical ability.

Don't think they'd take one before the 3rd, I think the first two picks will be defense again, because they need reasonably plug and play guys to fill out the rotation and take snaps this year. At guard with Steen already in the building and familiar with the scheme they can take a longer term view unless something ridiculous happens like Will Campbell falls to 32 and they can season him at Guard for year or two.

The Tankathon mock draft has the Eagles taking Derrick Harmon at #32, Bradyn Swinson at #64, and Isaiah Bond at #96.  I'd be quite happy with that, but I can't imagine Bond is even on the board at #64.

I'd be ecstatic with the first two selections.

I agree first two picks could be defense, if not and they take an offensive player it'll probably be TE and not OL. I wouldn't entirely rule out a guy like Donovan Jackson if he falls to 32, but I think they're more inclined to go defense, specifically the line.

Pre-draft bias at the highest level

That is an interesting comment. Would you be willing to expand on it a little?  What makes you feel that way?

Really makes me wonder if they traded CJGJ thinking they had Reid

Man, I would have felt really good about getting Justin Reid for cheap. He already has 2 rings, so I get him taking the money.

I wonder if this is enough proof now for the guys in here saying it wasn't true and then criticizing others for thinking it was  :angel

What's the deal with Hollin Pierce OT Rutgers?  Doesn't look like he did much at the combine or pro day.  Dude is a monster with monster length (pause).   With Rutgers not being that far I'm wondering if Stout has had a chance to take a look at him.

I'd take that all day.

And Coop too. Insane. Don't know how you pay Carter, Nolan, Cooper, Quinyon

Going to have to stagger the extensions as you can. Three of them have 5th year extension, so that might be a huge help.

Lumbering… might be a challenge in a phone booth but I don’t expect he’ll play well in space against NFL athletes. Dawand Jones, Daniel Faalele…

Nah, no way a GM like Howie trades away a player without having the contract inked in his pocket ready to announce, it just wouldn't happen, it would be a dereliction if that was the plan.

I wonder how close it was, I appreciate Reid is from Louisiana but other than that, what earthly reason would a pro footballer pick the 2025 Saints ahead of the 2025 Eagles? By the time the Saints are ready to compete he'll be negotiating his one year ring chase retirement deal.

These contracts are changing the league going forward. It's not sustainable to pay QBs 55 million,  WRs and DEs 40 million,  CBs north of 30 million, and DTs soon to be 40 as well. Howie is getting ahead of things, which doesn't thrill any of us, but you can see why.

Howie banks on the cap always increasing. It likely will too

I think "pretty close" means Howie gave an offer but Saints went above it

His celebrity has been kind of annoying

429?

15 years from now we'll all be watching a Netflix documentary on Big Dom and his many heinous crimes committed in the name of keeping the Eagles players' rep squeaky clean. Hit em Low, Hit em High: the Big Dom story.

For sure. How much can it keep going up to keep pace, though?

The only way the cap stops going up is if the TV deals plateau, at the moment that doesn't look like happening, although I wonder if the level of jump between here and 2033 will be anywhere near the near as dammit trebling from 2014-2023.

End goal is a global league which would increase everything by a lot

Reid would've been awesome. It shows at least the Eagles are willing to solve a slightly pricier free agent and they aren't only targeting bottom of the barrel guys.

It seems like the league is moving to a paid preview model via the streaming services which allows for more revenue in theory despite the market being fairly saturated. You can count me out, I’m almost down to the eagles only at this point - but most can’t get enough.

The NFL can opt out of the current deals after the 2029 season -- hence why we have so much dead money pushed to 2029 and 2030. Expect another massive jump since the streaming guys will bid it up.
