I absolutely could see Howie giving up draft capital to unload Huff. The cap space is more precious to them that late pick or even a 5 if it came to that

I tend to get all the contract interpretation wrong - but my read on this one is that we have some time with Huff. Since there isn’t an option bonus to be paid this offseason, we could deal him after he’s gassed up in some preseason action against backups and following an injury on another team.

1. Davis - B Critical to our run defense. Aside from Carter our entire DL is undersized.

2. Hunt - B  I liked what I saw a lot and he should only get better.

3. Ringo - C  It had better be his time.

4. Cine and Brown both - C

5. Steen - C Strictly a journeyman

6. Ojulari - C Another undersized edge with good quickness.

7. Ojomo - D Can't anchor worth a lick.

8. Uche - D It grieves me to give a Michigan man this grade but just another undersized edge.

9. Green - E Useless this season. It will take Stoutland a full year to fix this guy.

10. Jackson - C Until proved otherwise.

In sum, a bunch of undersized edge rushers and DBs with questions. Davis and Hunt are the only ones I like.

Interesting list.  I agree with nearly all of them.

Regarding 4. Cine - he is just a giant question mark to me.   They took a flyer on him given his college pedigree, but is he even healthy at this point?   I give him an "I".

Regarding 9. Green - he only has one year left on his contract.  So, given that you believe that it will take Stout a full year to fix him... what do you think happens with him?  Is he a guy that likely could be fixed, but no one would know and they can bring back on a very cheap deal or is it a matter of trying to fix him and get a comp pick back for 2027... but likely only at best a 6, or maybe just a 7.  (I don't see this team having much money available for free agents next year either given the number of players they are likely going to be looking to extend.  Carter, Smith and Blankenship rise to the top of the list defensively, and Jurgens pops up on the offense.  I just don't see a lot of money available for outside guys, so they shouldn't cancel out any potential free agent losses.)

There is but it needs to be paid by Week 1

It will be interesting to see how the Flyers handle their wealth of top end draft picks. They have 12 picks in the first 2 rounds over the next 3 years. It's a shame the NHL draft isn't like the NFL draft because I would be salivating over the possibilities. The truth of it is, unless there's a McDavid or Crosby prospect available, most picks, even in the 1st round end up being complete wild cards.

I'm hoping they bundle some picks and trade for young, elite talent. Doubtful, but we an hope.

Out of the last 8 drafts, how many of their 1st or 2nd round picks are core pieces? We all know Michkov is the prize and he's proving it. Jett could be a good player, but he's a complete unknown. Foerster, Brink, York are all good players, but are they core pieces the Flyers MUST keep?

2024- Jett Luchanko, Jack Berglund, Spencer Gill,

2023- Matvei Michkov, Oliver Bonk, Carson, Bjarnason

2022- Cutter Gautier

2021- Samu Tuomaala

2020- Tyson Foerster, Emil Andre

2019- Cam York, Bobby Brink

2018- Joel Farabee, Jay O'Brien, Adam Ginning

2017- Nolan Patrick, Morgan Frost, Isaac Ratcliffe

2025- 3 1st, 4 2nd

2026- 1st and 2nd

2027- 2 1st round picks and 2nd

#1 Cs and Ds are so hard to come by teams won't trade them if they have one.  As for core pieces, out of all those drafts you listed, only MM is a no doubt core piece.  Brink is everything you want in a 3rd line winger, Foerster is a 3rd/2nd line winger.  I have hope for Jett Luchanko as he was young for his draft year, has real wheels, is a good 200ft C, but lacks elite hands and playmaking.

The one draft pick missing on your list that could be a game changer is Russian goalie Yegor Zavragin.  He and MM are both top end talent and are the Flyers top two talents by a wide wide margin.

I'm on the fence about York, but I also think it could be a Torts issue more than a York issue.  Drysdale is showing some life the 2nd half of this season, so the Cutter debacle isn't a complete disaster.

Like you said, they have 7 picks in the first two rounds this upcoming draft and they may only get bottom 6 talent from all of that. Even if they somehow get into the top 5 of this draft, the only true #1 anything is Dman Schaefer and he will be the first pick, likely out of the Flyers reach.  Hagens looks OK as a C but is small and not a great scorer.  Misa is really good but likely a winger in the NHL.  Frondell and Desnoyers are both Cs but talent wise likely not #1 Cs in the NHL, but decent size.

I'm pretty sure there is a bonus to be paid this offseason... to the tune of around $15.5M.

That 'guaranteed' salary doesn't fit as any other type of money, and I think that's why the Pro-rated bonuses jump up in 2026-2028.Screenshot2025-03-18at8_39_01AM.thumb.png.5a678d0f8e2c7604f39683d158c52593.png

Spotrac shows it slightly differently, but that 2025 'signing bonus' still has yet to be applied, it seems.

This is the 'cash breakdown' perspective from spotrac.

I have hopes that either Ojulari or Uche can rebound and give us a little of what we were hoping to get from Huff this past year.  That said, I have no interest in keeping Huff around and finding out if he can rebound, because he's just so much more expensive a gamble.   That said, because he's so expensive, I don't realistically believe that a team will be willing to take that on.  So, I fear he's stuck here for the foreseeable future.

Equally, I don't see them being able to find a suitor for Goedert either.  Definitely not before the draft... and the window between June 1 and when the roster bonus hits is a small tight one.  Howie would be a true master of the NFL GMs to be able to swing that deal.  Therefore, I think Goedert is back, too.

Amending my thought process to, ‘we could trade him in TC’ if circumstances improve.

Stefon Diggs: Didn’t Houston restructure the remainder of his contract to make it a one year deal?

I feel like we heard nothing about him.

He had a season ending injury in October time ( ACL), so that'll be why teams haven't signed him yet,  Look to be almost healthy as is working out with a QB at the moment.  Can see a team waiting to the comp pick time is up to sign him

Jeremiah’s latest mock has the Eagles passing on Pearce and Nolen for Stewart.

John McMullen alluded to something going on at Novacare today and I’m assuming it’s Graham announcing his retirement

Good choices to have - that guy is a freak.

After extensive draft research, film study and crunching the combine numbers, I have decided that Aeneas Peebles is my favorite prospect name currently

Wow imagine all those guys being available at 32.  Can't see it happening at all but will stay optimistic

I think the Eagles will have to trade up to get any one of Pearce, Nolen or Stewart.

Would that be Josaiah or Shemar?

Exactly, how could all of them fall to 32. Pipe dream to say the least.

I agree - but DJ is more plugged in than me, so I'm encouraged.

We saw Becton leave a bad situation with the jets and perform well here. You saw how much happier Barkley was after coming from the giants.

I'm not suggesting its going to happen, but we could see a similar situation where guys just play better because of a better environment around them. Adoree' Jackson and Ojulari could play better just because they are no longer in a dumpster fire organization. I don't think they will sniff starting roles, but they provide solid depth.

Right now, it looks like the Ojulari signing doesn't cancel out the 6th.

I have much the same thoughts about both Cine and Green. Both come cheap. In fact, I believe Cine may be cut at no cost. I would have given Cine an "I" as well but didn't think I had that option, which is why I bundled him with Brown. Collectively they get a C. As for Green, they'll be able to measure his progress and will get first crack at extending him if he's proving out. If Green has any brains at all he will see what happened with Becton and realize this may be his opportunity to save his career.

I agree also about money for FAs next year. It just won't be there, which is why Howie has loaded up on draft picks. Half the team will be on rookie contracts.

I haven't seen it - but the exercise for me is, who's DJ pushing up that is questionable (e.g., Booker).

I heard, I was thinking more of an extension for someone such as Cam, Reed... Or a restructure type of thing like we did with Saquan and Lane.

He mentioned it while listing off the current edge/DE players on the roster and said let that foreshadow what’s to come so pretty certain it was about Graham retiring (or maybe announcing one last go?)
