The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Well Bernard Williams wasn't much better as a first rounder.

He actually played for the team though.   Started all 16 games before his marijauna suspension.   Weird how he was finally let go officially by the team fairly recently considering he goes back to 1994 as a draft pick.

That was a helluva draft... 1994... and explains the collapse of 1997 and 1998.
Round 1 - Bernard Williams.  Plays 1 season, gets suspended for drugs and never returns.
Round 2 - Fat boy Bruce Walker.  Never even makes it through the final cut as a rookie.  (This was the 2nd compensation pick they got for losing Reggie White in free agency, the first they used on Lester Holmes they year before, if memory serves.  And the Eagles traded back with both picks... one in the middle of the first round (1993) and the other a sandwich pick between Round 1 and 2 in 1994.   And they failed miserably to find any quality players with any of the moves!)
Round 2 - Charlie Garner - that was a really nice pick.  Shame he didn't stay here longer.

And then just a bunch of meh.   Joe Panos (Round 3) and Mitch Berger (Round 6) lasted in the league for a while though.

I’d like to just say, i am thankful i got to be alive through this era of eagles football. Seen two championships and a lot of great players. Furthermore we’ve had a lot of just good guys off the field as well which (if possible) makes those championships even better.

I was just watching "American Underdog" last night (Kurt Warner movie) and told my wife that watching that 1999 team win the Super Bowl with Dick Vermeil at HC, was at the time, the closest I thought I'd ever come to the Eagles winning a Super Bowl.   How glad I am that I was completely wrong.

Yup. I used to tell my family and friends that it would be the most Eagles thing to do is win a title the year after. I thought that for the longest time I was never gonna see an eagles championship. Was a time i thought Phillies in 08 might be the only one i might ever see. Now the sixers and flyers have taken the mantle of i might never see them win a title lol

Was it the Eagles vs Bills overtime game last year where the Bills won the coin toss and said "we want ball”

and BG said "It don’t matter”

hahahah what a legend he is

edit- wow dude a minute before me save wave length 😂

Graham retires and of course Castellanos hits a homer lol

Who is your number one (realistic) overall target at pick 32?

Ah of course, now they "weren't in on the WRs" after they got shut out.

Major copium

My favorite reaction in the 90s was when they said our first-round pick only had one eye. He didn't play poorly, but I was like one freaking eye?

BG legend :LII-LIX:

I have no idea what kind of coach he'll be but I hope he sticks around in some capacity. He's also a workout monster so I'd imagine he'd be nice to have around the weight room too to show the young guys what's up.

Jalen Carter finished his 3 years at UGA with 6 total sacks..  I know DE vs DT.  Also, Reagor wasn't like Megatron size or anything just fast.  Stewart has all the athleticism you want in a position you want athleticism to reign supreme.

Jalen Carter in no way compares to Stewart.  Carter was a dominant player on a dominant defense.  He looked physically dominant.  Stewart's play hasn't matched his physical skill set.  He needs to work on his technique.  He has had flash plays but also doesn't seem to have one trait/skill that allows him to consistently win.

Reagor wasn/t that much of a physical freak.  He barely ran under a 4.5. His 3 cone and short shuttle times were bad.  I don't think he's a good comparison with Stewart either.

I love BG and I know this is lame but that expression has always bothered me.  He is in the top 2000 football players in the world of 8 billion.  It's hard to argue that he's in the top 2000 best people in the world.  They say that about Saquon a lot and he's literally one of the best RBs of all time. It's a pretty high bar to say he's one the best people of all time. Ok I'm getting off my soap box.

Best of luck BG!!! You are an all time Eagle!!!!

It's not like the rest of the world tries to play NFL football.

You're also doing the Sheil Kapadia bit!

In asking everyone to rank the 11 Eagles primed to compete for starting jobs...the responses demonstrate that there is no consensus.

The biggest risk is uncertainty itself.  I think everyone has a few players they are excited about and think can be adequate replacements and then some.  Everyone has a few that will just be fine.  And everyone has a few they think will suck and disappoint.

The interesting thing is that it's different players in each group for different posters.  Most people are expecting big things from Jordan Davis next year and good things from Jalyx Hunt...after that, there is little consensus (and even that isn't universal).

For me, I like the DBs better than most, share the Davis/Hunt optimism, put Steen in the "fine" category, and have a much lower opinion of the non-Hunt edge rushers than the rest of you.

Wtf, that doesn’t make any damn sense. "We’re goin to cripple our offense and suck this year because we don’t want to hurt our QB’s feelings”

I could say something here about 2005 that would be a fantastic grenade to lob into the blog...

I like these historical look backs.  Keep them coming, please, if and when you are feeling it.

Maybe I missed it, but how does BG retiring effect the cap? I know he was a FA, but he had 4 void years on his contract.
