Live me some Josh Harris.  He is Sixer-fying the Commanders.   Can't wait for Daniels to ask to be traded in 3 years.

How rich is it that Wentz keeps getting replaced by Minshew?

Disagree. Mike Schmidt is definitively the best player in Phillies history and best 3b in mlb history (in the convo for top 2 at minimum). Van buren is not the best eagle in team history.

He's pretty close.  Dominant at his positon for the Eagles and the league, two championships, only played for the Eagles.  Just was a long time ago.

Yeah but he isn’t. It’s either Reggie or bednarik. And bednarik played long ago too. Mike Schmidt was/is definitively the Phillies best player in franchise history. And stood the test of time ans arguably the top player at 3b in mlb history.

id say van buren is much closer to Richie ashburn of the Phillies. Who’s in top 7 of all time Phillies

New number / number change predictions:

AJ Dillon - 8 Prefer him to keep a "big RB" #, but 2 is available. He wore 2 in college. Going with 2.

Harrison Bryant - 80 85

Kylen Granson - 83

Jahan Dotson - 7 Agree, he makes the move to single digit. I think he goes 8.

Ben Vansumeren - 37 Thought he would go to his college number of 13, but Ojulari changes that. 42 for BVS.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson - 18 DTR grabs the last single digit and takes 7.

Kenyon Green - 76

Josh Uche - 95 I don't see him taking a 90s number. He's going to get stuck in something ugly like 43.

Azeez Ojulari - 13

Patrick Johnson - 48

Adore Jackson - 2 Not a lot of great numbers left for a potential starting CB. 24 goes to Jackson.

Avery Williams - 24 Sorry for your luck. Here's 37.

We'll disagree.  Van Buren meant as much to the Eagles during his time as any player in Philly sports.  Probably even more to the city and fans post WWII.

In your opinion.

I would agree that in his prime he was the best. However, based on longjevity and how Kelce ended his career and where Lane is at his age I would rate them both higher. Peters declined majorly at the end of his time here and I will forever hold that selfish BS stunt he pulled over the G/T $ thing against him. Kelce and Lane were also both home grown talents who played/have played their entire careers with the Eagles.

The best OL who ever played for the Eagles was Jason Peters. No one, not Kelce, not Mailata, not even Andrews in his short stint, was as good as Peters. To me Mt Rushmore is Peters and Reggie and then you wait a while.

When you put Peters on a HOF level grading curve (and he is HOF), his pass pro was a bit less impressive and was much more transient.  He fell off as a pass protector long before he left the Eagles.

I think the proper Eagles Mount Rushmore, for the entire history of the franchise, is: Bednarik, Van Buren, Reggie and Kelce. That 4th spot is debatable. The 1st 3 aren't in my mind. Reggie left and won a ring in GB, but he's the best DE of all time and arguably the best defensive player of all time (him or LT).

As far as the entire franchise length... you can't go wrong with the 4 you named.
Bednarik - 6 time All-Pro... 2 time champion.
Van Buren - 5 time All-Pro, 2 time champion, first player to rush for 1000 yards in multiple seasons, single season rushing leader when retired, all-time career rushing leader when retired.
White - simply put... the greatest DE in NFL history - no hyperbole, IMO.
And Kelce... 6 time All-Pro, champion.  13 seasons.

Dawkins should get some love.   And could make a push for Kelce's spot.  Sadly, they didn't win it all.   And didn't finish his career here.  But, I'd say that Dawkins is still more beloved than Kelce here.  It was close for a while, but Kelce's overexposure changed that, I believe.  Dawkins moved back to the top of the list.

Brando in On the Waterfront, Streetcar, and The Godfather makes him the greatest ever. His part in Candy was an embarrassment. I take what I want and I leave the rest.
I remember Peters decking the DE, knocking the LB on his ass, and steamrolling the safety against Dallas on a single play. It remains in my mind as the greatest OL play I’ve ever seen. I remember a DE taking a shot at Sam Bradford’s knees, and Peters beating the crap out of that DE for the rest of the game. Knocked him down, speared him, just brutalized him. The guy was a hot shot for the Ravens but his name escapes me. The refs let it go because that DE had it coming. Yes, Peters hung on too long, but he so loved the game.

Ah, the name of that cheap shot artist just came back to me: Terrell Suggs.

We can disagree. However time doesn’t stop and players who’s history come along and mean something to the city too. Imo the difference in the Schmidt and van buren comparison is Schmidt retired 36 years ago and he’s still widely (almost unanimously) considered the Phillies best player in franchise history and arguably best at his position in MLB history. I can’t say that about van buren.

Imo Reggie or bednarik are more comparable to Schmidt.

He had a lot of great moments but the last memories of him were false starts and struggling on other teams

I'll reiterate that Mamula had more sacks per season than Graham.  So did about 15 other edge rushers.

And Mamula lasted exactly 5 years with the team... and in the NFL.

Franchise totals:
Reggie White - 124.0
Trent Cole - 85.5
Brandon Graham - 76.5
Clyde Simmons - 76.0

Mamula is 18th.

https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask?q=most+sacks+player+philadelphia+eagles+all-time

Also, Graham leads* the franchise in TFL (126), and is second all-time in FF (22, behind only Dawkins at 32).  He brought a lot more than just sacks.  Or, is Jason Babin the type of DE you want?

* TFL wasn't a stat back in White's day, or he'd be the leader.

He has a cap hit of $9,018,000 which they will carry until June.  After June 1, he will officially retire, which will then split the cap hit over two years, $4,560,000 this year and the remainder next year.

I don’t think they can do that though since he’s not under contract. If @Iggles_Phan is correct and his contract automatically voided at the start of the league year then it all hits in 2025. I don’t remember if he had a dummy year tacked on.

There were so many misses in the 90's in the first round. 95 we took Mamula over Sapp.  I think we took Renfro with the compensatory pick. Renfro over Dana Stubblefield.  Jon Harris in the 97 draft.  It hurts to think about.

Renfro was their own pick.  The comp pick was #14... which they traded back with to get Holmes (I looked it up).

But, yeah... so many bad picks.    Jon Harris was such a bad pick.   But, he's tall, so he can block FGs!

The longevity is fantastic.  The leadership and relentless yet hysterically wholesome trash talk are even better.  I just think the mention of Eagles Mt. Rushmore is crazy.

I mentioned it for 21st century...  Not for whole history.  :P

Kevin Allen. No one close. Is he out of prison yet?

So true.  And with Lovato all but gone now... its just him and Elliott left from the 2017 team.

Anybody else watching mock draft live on NFL network?  If they got steward at 32. If  Nolen did indeed fall to the 2nd in that scenario. I'd be all for trading up for him.

Tbh slipped my mind. definitely in the discussion with the others i mentioned in the 4th spot but i probably still wouldnt have him as my fourth

Sorry, but as big a fan as I am of Dawk, Van Buren gets the spot over him easily... and then Dawk joins the group in discussion for the 4th and final spot... Van Buren rewrote what it meant to be a stud RB in the NFL.   2nd player to ever rush for 1000 yards.   Set the new single season rushing record TWICE.  First to ever hit 1000 yards twice and retired as the all-time leading rusher in his career... and carried the team to back to back world championships.

free agent, Byron Maxwell might edge out a pretty long list of CBs from that same ear- Nnamdi, Cary Williams, and Bradley Fletcher.

Draft picks- there will be bigger ones, but one of the most disappointing for me was Nate Allen. Really thought he was gonna be good.

Two of the spots should be Nick Foles and Nick Foles giant D

Nick Foles giant D is already firmly inserted on the backside of Mount Rushmore.  Guy is so humble he didn’t want it dangling anywhere near Abe’s chin.

Disagreement.  Mike Schmidt was the greatest position player in Phillies history.   Steve Carlton was the greatest pitcher in Phillies history.   Pitchers and position players are separate categories and can't really be co-mingled.   Van Buren was easily, in my mind, the greatest offensive player in team history.    And Reggie White was easily, in my mind, the greatest defensive player in team history.   Again, gotta keep them separated, its just so different.
