Both reasons are ridiculous.  There are no records of any injuries occurring from a tush push and the pace of play speeds up.

That choice illustrates the dilemma between being the greatest over a career … clearly Clarke … and greatest/apex performance over a season … just as clearly IMO Parent.

Some fun, eh?

Also good. Really liking these Lions proposals.

Lions are just mad they lost to the Commanders

not enough people talking about Brandon Graham throwing his cleats over the Rocky statue.  Did he get them to stick on the first toss?

Don't think it would've impacted it much because they had a bye. The only difference is Commies would've played the Bucs at home instead of in Tampa so they probably win that game anyway.

Rodgers gonna have to decide between the giants, Steelers or retirement. If he choose the giants I’d be surprised if he isn’t drug tested the next day

Yeah first toss. There's a video out there

Do they have tests for ayahuasca?

Seeding would’ve been

1. lions 15-2

2. Vikings/eagles 14-3

3. eagles/vikings 14-3 (don’t know how that tiebreaker would’ve went as same conference record at 9-3 but eagles were 5-1 vs  division and Vikings 4-2. I proposed a couple months back if there was a tiebreaker between a wildcard team and a division winner, the tiebreaker goes to the division winner for winning their division)

4. Commanders 12-5

5. Packers 11-6

6. Bucs 10-7 (better conference record than rams)

7. Rams 10-7

Well but you get the confetti, didn't you even talk about that before? It found you..

Let's keep the collection going this season. 🦅

Yeah, I had looked to see if they had any for sale but didn't see any (other than LII confetti). I actually had to stop for a minute and think... "Did I order some and forgot that I did?" lol

Yup the wording of the " rule" is ridiculous, as it doesnt include pushing a player from behind down field just a player lined up behind the center getting the ball at the snap.

citing player safety is about as stupid as it comes, what next is GB going to propose penalizing tackling due to player safety

Whats even more hypocritical is Green Bay did the tush push with their TE at QB and converted on it like 3 times in the playoff game.

Sportsbook should’ve made a $10 million bet on hurts scoring a TD on a tush push at -115

The Defensive Holding one is nonsense, if they did that say hello to defenders holding like crazy every third and long as soon as they think they're beaten, because they know at worst they get a do over on the down.

Good chance Rodgers doesn’t know what month it is so it’s why he has no timeline

I think they should meet in the middle and approve it for illegal contact but not holding.

Divisions mean something... or they don't.   So, either you keep the division format and you keep the seeding based on the division winners getting the top 4 seeds, or you eliminate the divisions entirely and just have a conference.  Of course, how you then determine the schedule becomes a real quagmire.

So, you leave it alone.   Division rivals play basically the same schedule, so having them compete head to head to determine a winner makes the most sense and they are rewarded.   If it ain't broke... don't fix it.

@just relaxThoughts on Josaiah Stewart? Feels very Eagles-ish.

Essentially the same problem with illegal contact.

I don’t know if a team has ever submitted this, but I’m a little surprised there hasn’t been any team that tried to change offensive holding: from a 10 yard penalty and replay down to a 5 yard penalty and a loss of down. I don’t think it would ever pass, but I’ve seen teams submit a lot of rule changes that i thought had no chance to pass

And how does any of that change the ultimate outcome?

If the first 4 games go to 'chalk' with the top seed winning each matchup, the Lions still end up facing off against the Commanders in the same spot in the playoffs and lose in the Divisional Round anyway.  Not a different outcome for them.

Just a bunch of sour grapes after losing in the playoffs.   Maybe they should whine next about the bye week, because that also might have contributed to their defeat.  :nonono:

Except that's an automatic first down...

How about they just stop with the automatic first downs?  The penalty is what the penalty is, and if it results in a first down, so be it.  If not... oh well, so sad.

All I know is this amon st Brown the day or two after they beat the Vikings in week 18 went on his podcast to discuss this and said that they needed to change the rule. So i feel like the lions might have felt this way before the outcomes of games. if I remember correctly, he said some players around the league that felt that rule should have be changed.

that said I’m guessing the Lions are gonna use similar info to what I brought up here a couple months ago when we had the discussion in the blog to try to get the rule changed.

On reading the JP vs Lane who is better discussion (both excellent IMHO), it occurs to me that not many teams fans can debate which HoF Tackles, that played with each other for a good number of years and both into their mid 30s and longer without a noticeable drop off.  We can pick at the nuance, but its a nice problem to have.  And even that the Eagles then took an Aussie in the 7th round and effectively replaced the HoF LT with him.

For my money, JP is the greater physical specimen whose style of play meant you noticed him knocking doors down. Lane is more a blackhole at RT; things just disappear when they are in his vicinity. Both are worthy of being in the HoF alongside Kelce.

Wut? Peters definitely had a dropoff
