We didn't have a backup OT/OG last year by the end of the draft, then we signed Becton. We can do the same thing this May if we whiff in the draft. Stay with BPA!

There has to be some plan at backup LT. Mailata has missed games.  I can't imagine that the plan would be to hope you draft a guy capable of backing up at LT and if not pick up any old guy.

It's probably the second biggest need other than S right now.

For some reason the Eagles seem to like keeping LeRaven Clark (UFA currently) around. We also have Kinnard and Toth. They may re-sign Driscoll as well (I expect this). Right now, none of these guys are anything to write home about. But we've had worse backups. I still kind of expect an OL pick early in the draft and more than 1 before the draft is over. There will be decent players available before the season begins. It helps that we'll most likely only be looking to improve the depth and not fill a starting role.

Which ones do you like?

I kinda like Campbell from LSU, Simmons from Ohio, Belton from NC State and Membou from Missouri, but the guy I really like, I can’t even spell his name: Savaiinea or something like that, from Arizona. I just like his feet and the way he slides. This from watching maybe 45 minutes of him so, caveat emptor. What I look for with college guys more than anything is can they move. Everything else can be taught if they have enough frame and big butts.

Also good. Really liking these Lions proposals.

Nah.  That rule fails to account for strength of schedule.  Note none of the NFCN teams did well in the playoffs. Hell, one could argue that the best NFCN team was the Packers, who wouldn’t have benefitted by this rule.  No need to fix.

Ok.  But does that mean you go with a bad plan?

No I’m just wondering what the plan is since they let Fred go for probably fairly little. I wonder if they are expecting to draft a backup LT

I would love to trade up for LB Carson Schwesinger. Becoming one of my favorite guys in the draft. Baldy has one of his quick breakdowns that highlights his speed and sideline to sideline ability but it's only on instagram and facebook and it won't upload here properly.
But instincts, smarts, speed and athleticism, cover ability. I think he fits like a glove in Vic's defense.

Here you go

We did have a backup OT last year, Fred Johnson and Steen was OG and we drafted Keegan. Becton was an additional signing

That 2008 NFCCG would have been in Philadelphia

A few of the beats think they are smart in saying that Fred Johnson's loss is underrated.  We know. Obviously the team needs a backup LT.

Let's not gloss over the fact that we're in a lot better shape at that position than most teams. There are teams who need a STARTING left tackle. We already have a really good one there.

There are teams in a holding pattern, actually WANTING Aaron Rodgers to agree to wreck their franchise

These simulators are hilarious with their trade offers sometimes. But this one is my favorite.

Green is OG/OT like Becton last season.  If Stoutland can revive his career, that will be good.  Also expect they will draft an OT early to develop.

Temper your expectations with Green. If he can be developed, that would be great. But he was pretty much a throw in and not a key element to that trade. He was the lowest rated guard in the NFL in 2022 --- allowing 47 pressures. He played 350 pass block snaps last year and gave up 28 pressures.  To date, he has been a monumental bust and one of the worst guards in the NFL. He won't be moving to tackle anytime soon.

He has talent, but he's going to have to have the mental fortitude to focus and put in the work if he wants to turn his career around.

Jihad Campbell has a torn labrum. Still supposed to go first round but wonder if he slips

Have you seen anything on Charles Grant from William and Mary?

Has to slip some.  How far is anyone’s guess.

I doubt the Eagles would draft a Lb anyway in rd 1. I think Howie has invested all he will into that position

I’ll take a look but I’ve never seen a snap.

Campbell, like Baun has taken a lot of Edge snaps, but more recently has been an ILB with pass rushing chops in addition to his IlB responsibilities/capabilities.

32 is probably too rich would start with a 2026 3rd plus Huff.

What’s JAX motivation here? To cut salary… then why Huff. To get draft resources… they could wait it out, and likely get a 3rd comp down the line.  I think Howie would have to provide a better package.

Walker is deserving of the club option, but what’s the deadline for that? Immediately following the draft iirc., (if that’s actually a negotiating leverage point).

What is Huff’s salary plus bonuses for them?  $1.2 million in 2025 and $2.5 million in 2026. And none of it is guaranteed.  So if he doesn’t work out, there is no downside risk.

The timing of Walker’s 5th year option is the same as the timing of Jordan Davis’ So  if Jacksonville declines taking the option their possible 3rd round comp is in the 2027 Draft while the sure 3rd from the Eagles is in 2025. Two years earlier and surety is what they get since Comp Picks can disappear if offset by a FA signing.

There are other videos of him on YouTube.  How much any of them actually show you is possibly only a little because they are at a distance.  Can a YouTube video be played at reduced speed?  I’ve never tried that.  Plus I really don’t know the details to be looking for like you do.

Huff has a ~$15M guaranteed roster bonus that we would need to pay this offseason before shipping him to JAX otherwise that’s their problem - not sure if there’s another similar installment later on that would poison the deal. Huff has very little intrinsic value, so it should still be about the draft picks - a 3rd seems very low… if a JAX fan existed, they’d likely back me up on that.

My sense is that 2025 for Green is going to be a lot like Jordan Mailata’s first two years on the Eagles roster (2018 and 2019) where Mailata was inactive every week, and spent his entire time learning to be a Stoutland player and unlearning the bad teachings of his prior coaches.  Mailata took two years.  Green will be fish or cut bait situation in only one year.  So my expectations for Green are 17 inactive weeks in 2025 and possibly meaningful contributions in 2026.
