If James Pearce starts to drop, Howie needs to go up and get him. Detroit is the team that we will likely have to jump.

We've got 20 picks total in these next 2 drafts. I know we need some depth in places and plenty of holes to fill but IMO we're much more likely to move up for the right player than accumulate more picks by trading down or even staying put.

On one hand I agree with this and the real possibility of Howie trading up.  On the other hand, Howie keeps maintaining that they need young guys to play..i.e., guys on rookie contracts.  And, they need to replenish some depth.

That said, if they do trade up, it will almost certainly be for an Edge.  Maybe Ezeiruaku or...drum roll....Georgia Edge Mykel Williams

I like to thank trutv for existing for these 4 days every year.

If you don't have cable but you have MAX, they are another source for games.

I am using digital antenna for CBS and MAX for a second game at the same time.

I got Hulu and max. But max for these games seems to be slightly ahead

I had my boys fill out their own brackets before going to school this morning.

One has Drake winning, and the other has Texas Tech.

Safety has two BPA players in the first round that aren’t likely to drop to 32, but both would be hard to resist depending on who else is on the Board at that time.  They are South Carolina’s Nick Emmanwori and Georgia’s Malaki Starks.

TE is in a similar situation with BPAs Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland. However, I believe the real TE targets are in the 2nd Round.

I don’t see OT as a 1st round option because any OT taken will have at least one red shirt season behind Mailata and Lane, and probably more than one.  That would seriously limit the value return from a 1st round OT.

That leaves Edge and DT as my top two and the depth of DT prospects is a bit better than the depth of Edge so I think, if all things are otherwise equal on the BPA assessments, that Edge will be taken first and DT will be taken later

So my order of your list is

Edge
DT
Safety
TE
OT

No love for Xavier Watts?  I'd take him at 32 without batting an eye.

I think Howie has brought in Ojulari and Uche as a means of not being compelled to draft an edge rusher at #32.  The Eagles scouting staff might have surmised that a DT is more likely to be the best DL player available at that pick.  I'm sure they've done hundreds of mock drafts and tried to assess the teams immediately in front of them as to where they're likely to use the picks.

There should also be a differentiation between EDGE and DE.  Brandon Graham was more a true DE rather than an EDGE.  I think it would be wise for the Eagles to develop a true DE in his absence, whether that means the #32 pick or later.

My guess as to the likely pick?  It's likely he trades down a bit if someone wants to get back into the first round to get the 5th year option on a player; that's what Howie did last time the Eagles won the Super Bowl, although my bet is he doesn't trade all the way back to #50 this time around.  If the Eagles make a pick at #32 my guess would be:

DT

DE

OT

TE

Yeah I'm wondering if Fangio wants someone like BG (a true DE vs OLB) or not.  I know he prefers players who are "multiple", but a true size/power DE has good value.  Finding guys who can set the edge in the run game, be stout at the POA, rush the passer and drop into coverage on any given play are tough to find.  At least, anyone who can do all of that well.

Potentially\Likely 19 with Azeez Ojulari's contract

I have a feeling Howie might want to swap our 1st for an extra 1st next year. One of the main reasons he was able to retool this team so well was the 3 straight years in which he had 2 first round picks. He could try to replicate that.

Now, if that's not possible, then yes, I see him moving up to secure their target.

Talk about a massive red flag

They'd need a lot to fall into place to be able to use pick 32 to get a 2026 1st.  In that regard, they'd have to hope a regarded QB is there and a bidding war between a few teams escalates the price of trading up to 32.  Or...the team that would be trading up has no 2nd round pick meaning they'd be trading up from the 3rd round and therefore their price to make such a jump would cost them next year's 1st.

Never say never, but it seems unlikely.  The Eagles started that whole 2 first found picks thing when they traded down from slot 6 to slot 12 with Miami back in 2021.

I just cant imagine he drops after that combine

Watts is becoming a popular name in here. But aside from Starks and Emmanwori, I have recently seen guys like Latham Ransom, Andrew Mukuba, and Billy Bowman all ranked ahead of him.

imo Mukuba is the most like CJGJ. Small, and CB like, but delivers big hits.

Ransom looks dynamic.

And Billy Bowman is generally solid and seems to generate a lot of turn overs.

Do you rank Watts ahead of all of those guys?

This looks like a really good safety draft.

With the above mentioned guys, Watts, and Kevin Winston, it looks like a total of 7 safeties that possibly deserve to go in the first 2 rounds. And it seems like any of them could conceivably sneak in to round 1.

That doesnt even mention other guys like Sebastian Castro, or Maxen Hook who are probably mid-rounders.

And Ive hardly done any draft prep so there may be even more.

Poor Jayden Daniels is going to be wasted there until he can sign elsewhere someday.

Anyone have a site where we can find all the pro day results?

Part of the reason the Commanders moved on from Dotson is that he was mentally checked out on some level. Michael Gallup was so far checked out last year that he makes Dotson look like Jerry Rice running hills for fun. He's a fast dude who has not aged well and has mental issues. They are looking at him as a WR4 or 5 so if its cheap, have fun?

Getting lots of 2011 Eagles vibes from all of this in DC. Vick went from 21 and 6 to 18 and 14.
