If James Pearce starts to drop, Howie needs to go up and get him. Detroit is the team that we will likely have to jump.

Good player, but pass. He doesn't have that dawg in him to fit in the locker room.

Watts is becoming a popular name in here. But aside from Starks and Emmanwori, I have recently seen guys like Latham Ransom, Andrew Mukuba, and Billy Bowman all ranked ahead of him.

imo Mukuba is the most like CJGJ. Small, and CB like, but delivers big hits.

Ransom looks dynamic.

And Billy Bowman is generally solid and seems to generate a lot of turn overs.

Do you rank Watts ahead of all of those guys?

This looks like a really good safety draft.

With the above mentioned guys, Watts, and Kevin Winston, it looks like a total of 7 safeties that possibly deserve to go in the first 2 rounds. And it seems like any of them could conceivably sneak in to round 1.

That doesnt even mention other guys like Sebastian Castro, or Maxen Hook who are probably mid-rounders.

And Ive hardly done any draft prep so there may be even more.

I haven't started diving into draft prospects much as of yet, but Watts is someone I've read a lot about from various sources and he just seems like he'd be a great fit.  Right now, I'd be thrilled to get him.  I just don't see Howie using a high pick on a Safety.  But, he's kinda been on a streak of breaking his trends!

Matt...if you double-click on an image before you post, you will have the opportunity to proportionally reduce to the size of the image.  See what I did to your quoted post.  Takes up less room on the screen and easier for the reader to digest.

I had my boys fill out their own brackets before going to school this morning.

One has Drake winning, and the other has Texas Tech.

Drake 500:1, he must have the intel.

So far is it Marcus Mbow, Anthony Belton, and Josh Conerly Jr. who are confirmed to have scheduled visits?  Or am I missing some peops?

We've got 20 picks total in these next 2 drafts. I know we need some depth in places and plenty of holes to fill but IMO we're much more likely to move up for the right player than accumulate more picks by trading down or even staying put.

I understand your sentiment, and for the purposes of discussion add this alternative approach for consideration.

BTW these two approaches are not either/or but rather both/and.

With his eight picks in this Draft, and especially with the four picks in the 5th Round, Howie can assess the Board at any pick and as the Draft is unfolding see where "leverage points” are developing and capitalize on those leverage points.  In the simulator mock below at 32 one such leverage point clearly developed.  Specifically, there were five bona fide BPAs still on the Board. The first trade down yielded an additional current year pick and a pick swap.  The second trade down also yielded an additional current year pick and a pick swap. As a result Howie approached pick 96 with two of his priority targets already selected and picks 96, 103, and 107 in hand, plus all four 5th round picks.  Superb ammo to move up, no need to move down, and as I did the opportunity to add two 2026 picks so that he has the same loaded ammunition to be able to move up for a desired target or even put together a trade with a team willing to give up a future Round 1 pick like we got Carter with.

Bottom-line, the more ammunition he has in his arsenal each year the more flexibility he has to take the necessary steps to get the player he wants and still have plenty of picks to get subsequent players or repeat the "move to the next Draft” process

So going to blow up in their face.

They will be the talk of the NFL this season for how wrong it all went.

That is my concern with him as well.

Do you feel the same way about Landon Jackson from Arkansas?

For the NCAA Wrestling Tournament?

How do we get him to fall to RD2? I don't think he has enough juice (hence no agility testing) to be anything but a power-rusher. That's fine, but risky in RD1. He'll be able to set that EDGE though.

No love for Xavier Watts?  I'd take him at 32 without batting an eye.

I love em'. Not at 32 though. I want DT or DE round 1

Then in round 2: either safety, DE or DT whichever one not taken in round 1, LB (LB meaning Carson Schwesinger)

Thanks for that tip.  I just tried editing the post you quoted and double tapping (I’m on an iPhone using Safari) didn’t give me that option.  I’ll try it on my MacBook when I get home. I tried it with a new image on this comment and it worked.  It gave me the current image size in pixels.  What is the desirable pixel width?

FWIW, all the images everyone posts on here fit perfectly on my phone screen … never too small and never too large.

My thoughts as well, but I can’t help but wonder if there aren’t better choices than him.

You like him more than Emmanwori or Starks?  What makes him exciting?

I have a feeling Howie might want to swap our 1st for an extra 1st next year. One of the main reasons he was able to retool this team so well was the 3 straight years in which he had 2 first round picks. He could try to replicate that.

Now, if that's not possible, then yes, I see him moving up to secure their target.

I think next year is the year where Howie trades Pick #32 for a 2027 Round 1 plus a Day 2 pick in 2026. I don’t think he has built up enough Draft capital in this Draft to make that trade out.

Barrett Carter ran a 4.61 40 at his pro day.  22 reps and 33 vert.  Pretty sure we met with him at the combine

Maybe he’ll shoot up unexpectedly like Tyree Wilson (LV #7).
