Probably dont need one now that we traded for DTR. But McCord is the non-1st round guy probably most likely to have the best career imo. Possible starter.

As much as I liked DTR in his Draft year, a lot of that luster has faded.  McCord would have four years as an Eagle to develop.  DTR might not even have one year.

i like your guy for the Practice Squad.  I would have two UDFA QBs on the PS this year. The Canadian Taylor Elgersma would be the other one.  Developing those two plus McCord would be a fun test of our QB coaching.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that McCord might surprise a lot of people and get selected in round 2. Nobody has him rated so highly. But seems like a guy where NFL teams will be ahead of the draft sites. The bootleg football video alludes to him as the sleeper QB everyone wants. Im guessing they know the NFL is buzzing about him.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Great comment in one of the TATE threads

Once again, I think people are presuming we signed Uche to be an edge rusher, much like we did after signing Baun last season. Fangio may view him as a tweener that so far has been used improperly in the NFL --- one whose size and skillset may be better suited as an off-ball LB in his defense. Think about it ... we lost Burks in free agency and may have to wait a while for BVS and Dean to finish their rehab. We haven't signed anybody else at LB and the only other two currently on the roster are Trotter Jr. and Dallas Gant.

I believe we are going to see Uche getting reps early as an off-ball LB. FWIW, the Eagles site has Nolan Smith, Hunt, and Ojulari listed as OLB and Uche, Baun, Trotter, and Dean as LB.

I don’t claim to be a college QB guru, but I was raised as a Buckeye fan (sorry @just relax).  It has not exactly been a QB factory.  Yes he went on to Syracuse…but if he wasn’t even good enough for OSU, how good can he really be?  I realize that is not top-tier analysis, but I was never impressed by him.

If only there was a precedent for a big time programme dumping a QB in college, him going to another school, getting better and then being successful in the NFL, and even winning a SB

Not saying McCord will repeat that, but just saying, that argument by itself isn’t that strong.

God forbid that there is a precedent like that.

I noticed the LB thing as well. I doubt they consult Vic before assigning web positions but it’s interesting

I would never be one to try to punish someone raised under such a handicap.

This needs some context RTK.  Who is David?

The tone of his comment is rather dismissive, but what says is accurate. Most everyone here on the Blog follows the same logic and process that David describes, although our input data is much more limited.

Was it Paul George who thought NBA players could wholesale make it in the NFL?

The one game I was able to get to this past season.  A number of very memorable great plays for the entire season.

This board is RAS obsessed and Roseman clearly does not place a high degree of importance on it.

That doesn’t answer my question.  Who is David?

There is only one person on the Blog who is RAS obsessed RandomReglar, and he doesn’t even post anymore.

Personally, the only physical attribute that I’m ‘obsessed’ with is armlength… which weirdly doesn’t even factor into RAS. Outside of that, I guess there are some athletic  thresholds that are important but they tend to show up on the field (e.g., a 4.7 CB probably is going to have a hard time at the college level).

I do remember the insane sack totals and I had a blast watching it.

People say he sold out for sacks and didnt play a team game. A mercenary. However, that was the glory days of the wide 9 where thats what the ends here were supposed to be doing. I get that.

It wasnt a slight at Babin. It was to say, Nolen, while not on draft websites but seemingly in NFL circles, is being talked about as that kind of mercenary player. He doesnt play the run, and doesnt give any effort on a lot of plays. Hes just out there to get sacks, when he feels like it.

That’s fallacy.  The Wide 9 is first a run defense, not a pass rush defense.  The primary role of the DE in the Wide 9 is to set the edge and Babin was so focused on rushing the QB that he would fail at setting the edge. The criticism of his play is warranted.

They signed him back, he was on the SB roster (practice squad). After the SB he signed with the Raiders. I’m assuming Eagles just offered a futures deal but Raiders gave him a real contract. He also has the Chip Kelly connection with the Raiders.

Philips’ lack of ball security was a bad fit with the Eagles.

I have no idea matt. It's a random person on twitter.  What relevance is that?

Blame should fall on Reid too.

Apparently Reid didnt particularly want to hire washburn, he wanted to Hire mudd to implement zone blocking scheme and Mudd said hed only come out of retirement if he could bring his good buddy washburn along with him, so...

If youre saying Reid should be blamed for castillo, I disagree, I think Castillo would have been fine had washburn not been undermining him. Reid can take some blame for putting Castillo in the position to be undermined.

Barkley isn't Hall of Fame right now due to wasting too many years on the terrible Giants. I do wonder at what point though he would become someone likely to make it.  Does he need 1-2 more great years (top 1-3 RBs in the league) and at least 1-2 really good years (top 5 RB in the league)?   Can he do that at his age?  I think another rushing title and and 1st team all pro would go a long way.  He definitely needs to stay relatively healthy the next 3 years at least.

That one stinking mock draft generator has had the giants taking this guy #3 overall and set on taking a qb no matter what.

Your question to me is a mirror back to you.  What relevance to you does a random person on twitter have?  I emphasize the "to you.”

if the answer to that question is, "No relevance at all” then why take the time to share that irrelevance here?

The fact that a prospect isn’t even penalized on their RAS for not taking part in events or not getting measured makes the score a rather useless index.
