Hairston is interesting. Seems like he would be a round 2 CB pick which might be earlier than some would expect having Ringo here.

I have seen him go in Round One.  I expect he will go early in Round Two. The Eagles will need to trade down from 32 or up into the top of the 2nd Round to get him.

Regarding Hairston and South Carolina’s Shavon Revel, which one do you prefer?

With all due respect to McMullen, with Jurgens having had back surgery, and with Zabel projecting at C (biggest hole on the team at this point), I think those that pick Zabel are projecting him as an all around player that could play across the line.

I kind of expect folks to be hammering the Mike Green, Walter Nolen options based on the board (Donovan E. and J went early), I hadn't been worrying enough about Jurgy's back.

I watched a CBS first round mock draft with Danny Kanell and Pete Prisco, and when it came to the Eagles pick at #32 Prisco had the Eagles taking Josh Conerly Jr., the OT from Oregon.  His reasoning was Lane Johnson isn't going to play forever, so now's the time to draft and develop an OT.

I go look at Conerly's tape.  He looks somewhat impressive, but he's a LT.  I go look at his draft profile.  He started 27 games at Oregon, all at LT.

Why would a senior NFL analyst at CBS mock a LT to the Eagles and say he's doing it because their RT "can't play forever"?  To be fair, Kanell seemed to be more of the mindset the Eagles would draft on the DL at #32.  I know it's not impossible to transition from LT to RT, but would the Eagles actually use a first round pick on a prospect just to ask him to learn a position he's never played before?

For as much crap as Will Campbell gets about his arm length/wingspan, Zabel gets no such gripe despite his being just as bad (and even shorter arms). I get it, possible NFL tackle vs. more commonly accepted college tackle-to-NFL guard, but still a bit weird to me. I have no interest in Zabel for the Eagles; betting against too many things.

You mean Nee England isn’t the new expansion franchise?

I haven't really watched Hairston aside from a highlight video after his combine run, and I've seen his stock rise since then.

I'm guessing Id still like Revel more. Probably a reason he was long thought of as a high 1st rounder before his injury. I love his all around game.

But, I guess I can't say for sure having not watched Hairston.

The only choice out of those eight that I don’t like is Tyeik Williams

Donovan Ezeiruaku at 32 would be a home-run.

Hits a lot of Eagles checkmarks

  • Productive
  • Power 5 school
  • Very good athlete
  • Sub 7 3cone
  • Team Captain

More of a #2 pass-rusher than a #1, but can absolutely play in a rotation.

Nope - I'm not Drax - it went over my head.

Ezeiruaku is on my list with Pearce, Nolen. I'd prefer Pearce I just think he has higher upside, but Ezeiruaku was productive.

Well they have Dickerson and Toth but I think they want to avoid having to use Dickerson as the back up and Toth looks better as a G/T.  His snaps scare me.  Driscoll also did some snapping but didn’t look good, is a UFA and had an Achilles injury late.   (Note Lamm had back surgery last year too so I don’t see much in that signing.)  Some of those OTs they brought in project inside and some mention has been made of Mbow as a C.

Pete Prisco is a fat dbag that hates the Eagles for no reason and has no knowledge of the team.

Hardest positions for me to scout are my favorites, CB and S because we don’t get the coach film just broadcast film and to scout CB, S and WR, you have to see how they play when the ball doesn’t come their way.  (Also why a watch the Combine for the position drills. although watching the start of the forties with that longtime Steelers guy also reflected on how players receive coaching a bit.)  That said I agree on Revel.

Speaking of injuries, I could see Howie going for Josh Simmons if he slips far enough.  Many simulations I run have him getting into the high 20s like Campbell.

Just for grins a Howie looked at OL draft, mainly for how they align close to the Eagles picks

Hmm, so if he has a good year, then a 4th round comp pick IS on the table.
