Hmm, so if he has a good year, then a 4th round comp pick IS on the table.

Don't see how. At the full $10M per year they projected it at a 5. He can make $500k more with a pro-bowl but that won't push it close. The lowest 4th round projected comp picks are Daniel Jones and Haason Reddick who are both at $14M APY.

G Mekhi Becton's 2 year, $20M free agent contract with the #Chargers includes $6.9M fully guaranteed, $3M of per game active bonus this season, & $500,000 annual Pro Bowl bonus.

That's really low. I'm pretty surprised Eagles opted not to match that or come close enough. The knee must be a big concern.

Devonta Smith

I guess the better question is who has played on their 5th year option?  Didn’t realize they ‘picked his up’, but he pretty much got a contract right after that IIRC?

Comp picks are a combination of contracts + performance. For him to hit the 10M, he'll have to play a lot of games meaning he hits both the numbers + play-time stats.

Donovan Ezeiruaku at 32 would be a home-run.

Hits a lot of Eagles checkmarks

  • Productive
  • Power 5 school
  • Very good athlete
  • Sub 7 3cone
  • Team Captain

More of a #2 pass-rusher than a #1, but can absolutely play in a rotation.

I think he and Nolen go before 32.

The Eagles have operated all offseason as if they are in a way tighter spot money wise than even we expected and most of us expected them to not be super active. Letting Rodgers go, letting Becton go. Hell even letting Fred Johnson go. They really are looking under the couch cushions to save anywhere they possibly can.

On a side note, Fran said he's not as high on this Edge class as others. He said he thinks it's good, but not like an all-time class. He said the only one in the entire class he's 100% bullish on is Abdul Carter, but everyone else he has some major question marks about. He said Mike Green or Mykel Williams might be the next best after Carter but even them he has questions. He thinks Pearce doesn't feel like a Fangio fit because he's not good against the run, compared him a bit to Vic Beasley. Boom or bust speed rusher. Likes Ezeiruaku, but wondered if the Eagles would prefer someone a little bigger. Thinks Landon Jackson could be a fit.

He loves Walter Nolen though at DT.

Walter is the guy in the draft that everyone says a year from now. How did you let the Eagles get him. His potential is thru the roof and I'm friends with the family so a win win if he comes to Philly

He's ready to be traded to a southern city.

I know it's more than just money but the max value being $10M which is what they are using as a projection to come up with a 5 makes it seem more likely for the pick to drop to a 6th than upgrade to a 4th. Becton is also closer to the bottom of the 5th round. There are only 4 players between him and the 6th round. They have Poona Ford projected at a 6 and his AAV is $9.2M. Snaps make up only roughly 5% in their formula. It's mostly money that is the contributing factor. Awards are even lower than snaps.

@just relax what are your thoughts?

I know he did not do any drills at the combine though I don't know why. He's short for the edge, at 6'1" and goes about 245. He'd be a great fit at edge in Fangio's D. Very physical player. He's not as fast as Smith but he's a tad thicker and at least as powerful. His game is somewhere between Smith's and BG's, all three being very aggressive. Michigan rotated him a lot, much as Georgia did with Smith. It might take him a year to get his moves together, as it did for Smith and even more for BG. I'm guessing we'd have to move up in Round Two to get him but as I have said many times, I'm a lousy guesser.

A 6 foot 1 Edge from Central Arkansas - Scottttttttie Pippen I mean David Walker still intrigues me a ton although the more research I'm doing I'm liking Bradyn Swinson more and more.

Simple....put on an Eagles Barkley Jersey and sit outside pointing and laughing at him!

Gotta love this guys attitude and perspective. The Eagles have lost a lot of vocal leaders and vets this year. Even if he's here for 1 year, just from this short video, I feel like he can only have a positive influence on this team.

I watched a CBS first round mock draft with Danny Kanell and Pete Prisco, and when it came to the Eagles pick at #32 Prisco had the Eagles taking Josh Conerly Jr., the OT from Oregon.  His reasoning was Lane Johnson isn't going to play forever, so now's the time to draft and develop an OT.

I go look at Conerly's tape.  He looks somewhat impressive, but he's a LT.  I go look at his draft profile.  He started 27 games at Oregon, all at LT.

Why would a senior NFL analyst at CBS mock a LT to the Eagles and say he's doing it because their RT "can't play forever"?  To be fair, Kanell seemed to be more of the mindset the Eagles would draft on the DL at #32.  I know it's not impossible to transition from LT to RT, but would the Eagles actually use a first round pick on a prospect just to ask him to learn a position he's never played before?

I don't get all of the talk about the Eagles going OT at 32. IF the value is too good to pass up there, sure. That being said, this draft is much better at Edge and DT and even if Lane only plays 2 more seasons despite saying he plans to play 3, drafting a guy at 32 to sit for 2 full seasons is dumb. I expect them to take a couple of OL in this draft to re-stock but not until round 2 or 3, and then another on day three. So just to be clear, if someone is there that they absolutely love I get it, but just mocking them a random OT because Lane is old is dumb.
