Apparently Dave Gettleman basically built the Eagles team in New York.  Daniel Jones is the only reason they haven't had our level of success.

Basically the Giants would be SB contenders if they had Saquon plus the 52 other Eagles players on their roster.

I just hope they make them have joint press conferences.

From Tommy Lawlor at Igglesblitz …

Let’s go back to pre-draft visits. Here is what we know as of Monday night.

OT Marcus Mbow

OT Jalen Travis

OT Anthony Belton

OT Josh Conerly

CB Maxwell Hairston

Edge Elijah Roberts

Hairston is a playmaking CB from Kentucky. Had 6 INTs, including 3 pick-sixes, over the past two seasons. Hairston ran the fastest 40 of any player at the Combine this year. He timed 4.28. You don’t find a lot of CBs with elite speed and great ball skills. There isn’t any surprise that the Eagles have interest in Hairston. He would fit Vic Fangio’s scheme and give the defense another outstanding talent.

Kelee Ringo ran a blazing 40 at his Combine. Quinyon Mitchell ran very well last year. Obviously the Eagles value top speed in their CBs. There is a question of whether Hairston makes it to pick 32. If the Eagles took him, they would have the fastest set of CBs in the league. Also a very talented group.

DeJean isn't slow either.  He ran a 4.42 still coming off a leg injury.

I like Jimmy's mock except for the first rounder. Would be a little underwhelmed.

Ohio State Pro Day is today.  Be interested to see how a lot of these guys perform as most didn't do anything at combine because they needed more time after National Championship game.  LSU's is today as well..  See what Swinson and Mason Taylor do

I like Fadil Diggs.  I woud be kind of surprised if Sawyer falls all the way down to the 5th round but he would be a good value.

Samesies and samesies.

Not attached to who they selected, but interesting to see what players they think will still be available in our neighborhood of the draft.

Spoiler

Luther Burden WR

Eagles visiting with Jaydon Blue he's a baller. I think would immediately leapfrog to RB2 on this roster. Would rather they invest picks elsewhere though, so many other priorities.

Hairston is a little light and I don't think brings the physicality Vic likes especially defending the run. He does have the speed and quality cover skills however.

He is the fastest combine runner ever. According to himself.

I would be OK with Harmon at that pick depending on who is left on the Board.

I wonder if they think of him as a potential receiver given his speed.

Luther Burden WR

Well, I think they must have gone wrong somewhere if Burden is still available there.  But if that happened,  it's hard to pass on him for anyone else on that board.

I already would have understood if they decided to select a Trey Harris, or Higgins or Noel st 32. If Burden is still there that may be even better. He's on another level compared to the rest of those guys left on that draft board.  I guess the trade down route is always an option if you're really completely against a WR.

I don't agree with their rationale about AJ Brown possibly demanding a trade at some point.  But I do think it's entirely possible that he only has about 2 more seasons here.

I like that.  Also proposed to move touchback back to 35 to encourage kickoffs

I'm not sure how I would feel taking a CB in round 1. I'm trying to use my Howie brain and you'd be all but guaranteeing that one of the young CB isn't here for a 2nd contract. There's just no way in hell that Howie would be able to keep 3 top CB around if the 2025 1st round pick panned out. Maybe I'm overthinking things way too much but seeing what Stingley just got paid has pushed Quinyon and DeJean's next contracts through the roof (assuming they continue their upward curve).

The Eagles aren't taking a CB in round 1. I'd bet anything on that.

A BPA pick is tough to argue with, having a WR3 seems like a good idea both in the short-term as injury insurance and long-term as a potential replacement.  It's only tough to swallow in that we haven't really incorporated our WR3 into the starting offense.  I hate to make a pick like this and have everyone dunking on it in a year or two because Burden only gets 30-40 targets/yr.

Luther Burden WR

I fast-forwarded to the 2-hour mark where they were discussing the Lions pick and they were trying to break down schematically how the Lions have been/would be using their DL.  Aaron Glenn isn't there anymore, so it's pretty presumptuous to think Kelvin Sheppard will run the same defensive scheme.

As to the Eagles pick, their reasoning didn't make much sense to me in how they settled on Burden.  AJ Brown isn't going anywhere for a couple of years; even if he did, there really isn't any succession plan necessary for WRs.  There are 3-4 in almost every draft who are plug-and-play guys in Year 1.  The Eagles aren't going to spend the #32 draft pick on a WR3 in this offense.

As soon as they said Eagles, one of the panelists immediately said "James Pearce Jr."  That was the correct answer; if the board looked like that at #32 Howie would be on the phone with Pearce before the Chiefs pick has even reached the stage to hug Goodell.  Sikkema ended up overthinking it and got cute with a WR pick.

Kelvin Sheppard was the LB coach at DET last season, I can't blame them for assuming that defensive scheme will be similar.

In terms of the Eagles discussion, I agree, I didn't see the logic beyond making a BPA play (where I'd likely rather trade back to capture that value).  To me, they had some players that went right ahead of our pick that I might think about trading up for - also, the decision between Pearce/Mychal Williams and Revel has some merit.

Very true.

But who was that WR last year a bunch of people liked because of his broken tackles? Jets drafted him.  I was not a fan.

I was here last year saying if you want a WR like that, then wait a year for Luther Burden. I loved Burden.

Now,  if Siri wants to force WR screens all day,  this is your guy to run them with.  He could average 5+ receptions per game on that stupid play alone.

Id definitely be a little concerned about their plan or potential lack thereof to incorporate him.  But,  I'd be really excited for the player.
