The Tush Push wasn't to blame for Luvu jumping offsides repeatedly.  It was him trying to time the snap and failing miserably.  The fairer thing would be to penalize multiple offsides in a row more severely.

Amen

Had to go to DC today. Worst city ever. It must be miserable living there. Makes Baltimore and Philly look like heaven

So far the guy I’ve heard a few people say the Eagles have a lot of interest in is Starks. It’ll be interesting to see if he visits. So far the Nolen stuff has all been fit as far as I can tell and haven’t actually seen any eagles connection

Okay I’ll bite.  For you and your better half do you believe you will never have better sex than you have had historically?

Life is all about evolving and growing for both my better half and I independently 2023 was the absolute best year of our individual lives … and we were respectively 75 and 80 years old that year.

To be fair and balanced 2024 was an all time horrible year for her.

There is a good reason why the wording of a financial investment prospectus says, "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."

But, that phrase contains a second meaning, too … Don't discount an investment simply because it's done poorly recently. It could improve. "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."

If you read my original post, I closed it with "maybe that changes next year.” So clearly I’m leaving room for 1) the team being confident in his improvement and 2) him actually improving.

What he has shown to date (in a fairly large sample size) is not a good outcome for the use of essentially pick 15, a 4 and two 6s. As I said in my original post, that doesn’t mean he isn’t useful and it doesn’t make him a bust. Then as I said later, he’s a great role player. Is that worth $13M against the 2026 cap? I don’t think so. His snap rate doesn’t inspire confidence either.

While I agree, I think many in the league don’t.

Fair enough.

What amount of resources would it take to replace his performance from the Free Agent marketplace?

Not sure, but it could come from perhaps a third round pick in the 2025 draft. If we’re talking about 40-45 percent of the snaps, do we even need to replace his performance 1:1? Would 75% of his performance suffice in limited snaps?

This would make a ton of sense, so the NFL won’t do it.  It’s been too long since the last realignment

If the divisions were like this right now we would have a Patiots-esque run of division championships and likely multiple super bowls

Respectfully, you are only addressing quantity, while ignoring quality.

Plus you only addressed the Draft option, while bypassing the Free Agency option.

When drafting that high you expect both quantity and quality.  We're only getting 1 of those, hence the hullabaloo about him.

I wouldn’t speak in absolutes, sometimes it’s a great way to judge one.

Did you see him try to interview Hurts and Hurts said "Not the crying though." That was such a great example of the difference between a serious man who plays football and a little boy who loves fashion.

I still think the 2002 realignment was mostly done to get Peyton Manning into the worst division possible. He got 2 cap hell teams and an expansion team.

(and got away from the Patriots)

I’m not ignoring quality, but quantity matters. Put it another way, if you’re gonna pay $13M for 40-45 percent of the snaps for what is basically only a run-down defender, wouldn’t you be better served to take that money and and spend, say, $5-6M for 75 percent of the quality and use the leftover money for an every down (or close to it) player?

Yep. And even the quality is debatable as it’s really only against the run.

I just started to do some research on the draft this week and will likely go into "full draft mode" starting this week. However, from the little bit of stuff I have gathered this seems like the type of draft where there will be a ton of surprises in the 10-40 range with a lot of guys going much earlier or later than consensus.  As you said a lot of people had Nolan Smith had a top 15, and possibly even top 10 pick and he fell to us at 31. Jahmyr Gibbs was supposed to be a late first/early second round pick and he went 12th. Things like this happen every year and this appears to be the type of draft where it could happen quite a bit. I wouldn't rule out any edge rusher or DT possibly falling to 32 other than Carter and Graham. Obviously you look at guys like Walker and Williams and they are less likely to be there than someone like Stewart or Ezeiruaku but who knows. It just drives me up a wall when people who cover the draft every year make stupid statements like "that guy has NO CHANCE of making it to pick so and so." The other day I heard John McMullen say that there was "no chance James Pearce Jr. will be there at 32" which while unlikely is far from "no chance."

Anyway, great post and I am glad you brought this up. It's like every year people's brains melt and they forget years of watching/covering the draft and all of the crazy stuff that happens. That's a major part of the reason that the draft is so amazing to watch because you just never know what's going to happen and things go sideways all of the time.

Do you ever think that us super informed fans actually know more than a lot of these beat writers and media guys.

Quality as defined how? Impact? He certainly has that. People get too hung up sack numbers at DT

one thing i saw alot if rewatches was his screen awareness. He was sitting on alot of screens and made qbs hold the ball

HE, we were talking about Stewart’s PR ability and Kollman posted some numbers…

Pass rush win rates against true pass sets in their last year of college:

Maxx Crosby - 31.7%
Myles Garrett - 28.8%
Micah Parsons - 23.8% (as a linebacker)
Greg Rousseau - 21.6%
———————
Shemar Stewart - 20.7%
Rashan Gary - 16.5%
Travon Walker - 13.5%

Who are the "few people" who said the Eagles have interest in Starks?  Curious, are you connected to any folks in the know?

After seeing this on X (twitter, whatever) with the obvious context that Sirianni was making a joke-like comment based on the question, but then I saw headlines come out like this that reinforce my belief that there are too many terrible writers and media outlets that frame things so out-of-context for clickbait and creating some form of hate:

No I'm not. I heard both DiCecco and ESP say that the Eagles jad a lot of interest in him.  Could be nothing. Could be one guy copying what the other said and the other making it up.  But honestly the Eagles interest in players hasn't been a big secret in the past
