Just finished transferring the NFCCG from Fubo to my hard drive and realized that our last 3 NFCCG's were won by a combined score of 124-37 lol I don't know if that ranks with any records, but I like that trend!

Given Bauns age and the situation i wonder if he would take less annual avg for more guarantees

this will be his one shot at a big deal

I sure don't like the idea of losing Davis.  He has come along nicely late and a huge reason we can stuff the run.  ALWAYS give me a gigantic guy to push the middle.

Like him, but he's probably more replaceable than Milton and have 2 years to find his replacement. He's only good for 20 snaps a game, so he's not getting a large contract if nothing changes there. Probably can keep him for a fair rate, if they choose.

Still don't understand why people don't want to field the best possible team this coming year if you can? Why sacrifice Williams? You can trade him in a couple years if you need cap space. Or trade Davis or Ojomo? Why not hold the assets as long as you can and let this play out. Howie will figure this out. These contracts will all be staggered with Carter and later with Nolan Smith , Quinyon & Coop etc. Injuries happen as well to dicate cap spending such as the case with Dean now.

Williams is worth more than a late 3rd round compensatory pick that can't produce anything for another year. That's almost like a late 4th rounder in true value. I'm here to run it back with the key young guys from this season, so this dominating defense can sustain itself with out much of a hiccup.

Historically both the Pats and Chiefs made tough decisions to keep their reign going

1. Cap

2. Historically deep draft at DT

Counterargument is can use draft picks for other team needs. And Howie will manipulate the cap. I have faith in that. I never worry about that. Like I said many times these contracts will be staggered out nicely while the salary cap balloons higher.

lolwut. Pretty sure nobody wants to sacrifice him, it's just a reality of our cap situation. If Howie can make it work and bring him back, then great, but it seems unlikely that he will be able to because of the circumstances.

I love Dart. He's been a treat to watch at Ole Miss. Kinda Baker Mayfield, kinda Johnny Manziel and kinda Bo Nix. I'd much rather the Giants get Shedeur Sanders than Dart. I was trying to make the point yesterday that right now there are 2 sure fire top 10 QBs, but we will easily see 4-5 after combine and workout season. Teams want to find their guy.

With such a weak qb class why force it? Can get a vet on the cheap to bridge to next yr or two

teams will try to copy the blueprint and go line heavy. Just look how Q fell to us last yr

Yup, but are they always right? Losing Tyreek was not a smart move IMO. That was just cheapness there. You gotta pick the right horses. I value Milton very highly obviously. They destroyed the Chiefs with that line. Why tinker with that when you can keep him in his prime. The draft is a crapshoot unless it's a top pick. You KNOW what you have here. And the chemistry they have.

I would have loved to have seen DeJean’s folks on his pick 6.

There's video of it because he saw a reaction video of his parents. I don't know if it's been uploaded anywhere

But I think many here want to be salary cap managers instead of worrying about a great TEAM next year. It's all doable is my point. Plenty of salary coming off here to make it work with Baun and Williams and then worry about next year next year after we evaluate another full season of this group. Alot can change.

Everybody wants to see us field a great team, but you just can't keep everyone, otherwise Hargrave and Reddick would still be here. The current reality is that Huff's cap hit is limiting our options somewhat and you gotta keep in mind that Carter's upcoming deal is going to be massive. Failing to plan is planning to fail.

If they get Baun and Bechton back it’ll be a win in FA.

Add some depth at Edge, DT, CB, and OT.

TE and RB as well.

I don’t think Becton will get that much. He’s a bit overrated here. He had a solid season but not great

I certainly rate him more highly than you. Much more so. He may be the most powerful guard in the league (not just my opinion - Baldy has called him the most powerful blocker on our OL, which puts him close to the top of the hill) and he had never played it before at any level. He’s only going to get better, and he’s 25. Mailata has gone on record asking Howie to bring him back; I think that means more than your or my opinion.

What are you talking about?  They literally won the next 2 Superbowls without him. 😂 I’d say almost won a 3rd but we obliterated them.

I agree. Just remember that when we talk OL.

We have a Pickett with very low miles!  Let's make a deal!

Nah. There offense has tailed off a ton since that deal. Don't be fooled,. That was the defense winning them 2 championships. With a lot of ref help and now they are done as defense has slipped some. They miss his vertical threat DEARLY. They are a shell of their earlier Chiefs offenses. I like McDuffie but still don't make that deal 20 out of 20 times. Mahomes, Kelce and Hill were unstoppable.

Their lineup and bullpen have been the issues and neither is significantly better and maybe not better at all.

IMO Bullpen is definitely not better. Lost Hoffman and estevez. I’d argue 2 of their 3 best relievers. Replaced it with Romano who’s coming off an elbow injury, a down year and is turning 32. While aLeo asking Alvarado to bounce back after he was not very good in 2024. Seems like Alvarado got in shape but they tried the same recipe with Dominguez and Soto in 2024 and they were much like 2023 where they were wildly inconsistent.

id argue their lineup is pretty much the same besides Kepler who also Had a down year and was injured in 2024. He’s 32 he might just be starting his decline like whit Merrifield was and never be what he was 2-3 years ago. Only way the lineup is better is if Stott finds his 2023 form, Kepler finds his 2023 form, marsh learns to hit lefties consistently and Bohm isn’t bad for half the year (after the tigers series in June he was as bad as Stott analytically for the rest of the year).

Their starting pitching should be better when painted is ready and if luzardo returns back from his injury to his 2023 form. The biggest issue with the Phillies is every move they made this offseason the guys they acquired or counting on  to make improvements need to bounce back to what they were in 2023. There’s a chance that all these guys just never get back to what they were two or three years ago. the Phillies from June onward were a .500 baseball team. They were closer to average for 2/3 of the season. Their April and May wasn’t what they were for the majority of the season. They played like they had for majority of the season against the Mets in the NLDS

I don’t think anyone wants to lose Becton either, including me.  I’d be ecstatic if they re-signed him, but I’m just viewing it from a cap casualty perspective.  Baun is more important to this team right now than Becton is.  No matter how powerful and freakish he is.

Your timeline is backwards.  They signed Huff BEFORE they traded Reddick, about 2 weeks ahead of time.

My bad.

Now I remember. They signed Huff and that made everyone think either Reddick or Sweat were gone, just didn't know which one yet.

I was all for Hargrave and Reddick leaving as they were older and peaked pretty much. 25 yr old DT here entering his prime and looking unstoppable with Carter. Pretty sure Carter contract won't kick in til after Huff and dead cap hit is gone. But don't quote me on that.

I brought this up before the Super Bowl. Their last two years on offense has really taken a nose dive. They went from in 2022 scoring around 28 points per game to down around 21 and 22 points per game over the last two years. Some of this is the fact their offensive line is just not nearly as good as it used to be. Trey Smith, creed Humphrey and thuney when playing guard are still good. But their tackles have been a mess for the last two years. They were fortunate to win the Super Bowl in 2023 because their offense in terms of scoring was middle of the league. Their defense was really good in 2023 when they had sneed and it’s what really carried them to that Super Bowl. I would also add the last two years Matt Nagy has been their offensive coordinator. I think Matt Nagy is a bad coach. Reid is the main mind but he could use a new set of eyes to help him.
