The Jordan Davis haters are going to look so dumb this season.

I would be ecstatic if Davis proved me and all the Haters wrong, as would the Eagles.

I dont think any birds fan is hoping Davis sucks.

If you relax and unfocus your eyes you can see a schooner in the carpet.

my biggest disappointment regarding Davis so far is that he hasnt appeared more on the eagles christmas albums. He MAY be the best singer of all of them, even including Mailata.  Want to hear more.

The arguments for Davis have been pretty weak

There’s a NT behind door number 2 who’s cheaper and nearly as good is a compelling argument…or that guy could be Mazi Smith.

We could just let Tom Donohoe pick

That’s the thing: We’ve got some expensive players to have to pay soon. Where would Davis rank?

I don’t think JD is getting extended - he might be worth the $, but we don’t have it (like Becton)… the club option supports the SB window, it’s not a 3yr/$51M albatross.

At this point it’s between Davis, Jurgens, Dean and Calcaterra. His spot dramatically reduces when you include the 2023 draft class.

There can only be one… Jurgens.

And then the 2024 class…

Nets within 5 at halftime. Probably lose by 25 but something to keep an eye on.

I think people seem to be assuming that Jordan Davis is all he will ever be. I like to look back on Javon Hargrave's career and use that to compare to Davis. Hargrave was a 3rd round pick, so I do get the argument that it's expected for 3rd round picks to need time to really break out and that you'd prefer a 1st round pick to perform at a higher level earlier. But regardless of that, I still think it's fair to compare Davis' progression to Hargrave's since they are both NFL players and both played NT to begin their careers.

Hargrave flashed a little more pass rush ability as a NT, but was not quite the force Davis is vs the run. But let's look at Hargrave's stats:

Jordan Davis turned 25 years old this January. I think it's important to keep that in mind. He's still a young player. He only had 1 sack in his 3rd year, but added 2 more in the final 2 playoff games. In 2023, our defense couldn't get off the field and 45% of the snaps on defense was 519 snaps. Everybody agrees that Davis looked gassed late that season. This year, 45% would have only been 448 snaps. But we had a pretty good rotation and Davis was only asked to play 388 snaps (37%). So many teams abandoned the run late in games against us and Davis saw his 2nd half usage significantly reduced.

Now, I can't promise that Davis will continue to improve as a player, but at his age, with his physical gifts, I do expect him to. I don't feel it's uncommon for a DT to take a few years to become more than just "solid." In fact, I think it's normal for it to take a few years for them to become the best version of themselves ... for them to develop skills that make players better. In a way, it might be a blessing that his development is slow --- so long as he becomes what they thought he could become. We know we're going to be paying Carter like the highest paid defensive player when the time comes, but it would be nice to not have to break the bank with Jordan Davis before that. Think about it, Milton Williams is the 3rd highest paid DT in the NFL after amassing 11.5 sacks in 4 seasons.

I don’t think it’s really fair to compare Hargrave to Davis. Completely different stylistically. Davis is in the absolute best defense for his skill set. Hargrave wasn’t in Pittsburgh.

Hargrave early on was a 2 gapper in Steelers 34 D, Then when he got to philly he played 3 tech in a  lot of 5 man rushes then in SF was a 3 tech as well, which would probably explain the increase in sack production after leaving the 34

If you think Jerry Jones is the worst owner in sports, it can always get much, much worse:

"I think Justin Fields is going to be a total winner for us," Woody Johnson said. "He's going to be the starter, as you found out. I've been impressed with him since his college days. It was he or Trevor Lawrence.”

Someone needs to remind Woody that he had the #2 pick and he took Zach Wilson.

John Spytek’s welcome to the NFL moment:

(Raiders new GM) on NFL Radio if there’s any GMs he wanted to wait before chatting with after taking the job and he said:

> "Howie Roseman of the Eagles called me 7 minutes into the job trying to trade Maxx Crosby for a 5th. I had to tell him give me a chance to get my feet wet before you hose me.”
