Funny. Cuz I remember when everyone thought Hurts contract would disable us permanently. Howie will figure all that out. No worries.

Makes you feel better they have significant money coming off the books at the end of the season. I thinks schwarber and realmuto get extended but probably less money as they are older and less years. According to Ken rosenthal they’ll have money to make a significant move in free agency. He mentioned Kyle Tucker. Frankly i think they wanted to do a trade with Houston for him but didn’t want to give up the prospects Houston wanted for potentially a rental

You don’t have to go all ****y here. He only mentioned two guys. If they don’t bring back Becton, then I’ll be the ****y one.

Lurie literally said they expect to get comp picks this year.  Obviously we all hope they keep the guys we want them to keep but I think they know there is a reality to the math

I brought this up before the Super Bowl. Their last two years on offense has really taken and nose die. They went from in 2022 scoring around 28 points per game to down around 21 and 22 points per game over the last two years. Some of this is the fact their offensive line is just not nearly as good as it used to be. Trey Smith, creed, Humphrey and thuney when playing guard are still good. But their tackles have been a mess for the last two years. They were fortunate to win the Super Bowl in 2023 because their offense in terms of scoring was middle of the league. Their defense was really good in 2023 when they had sneed and it’s what really carried them to that Super Bowl. I would also add the last two years Matt Nagy has been their offensive coordinator. I think Matt Nagy is a bad coach. Reid is the main mind but he could use a new set of eyes to help him.

Agreed. You must watch Chiefs a good bunch. I can tell. And not get smoke blown up your butt by the media like many do when it comes to Mahomes and their offense.

I'm only saying Baun and Williams as the must keeps in here. Becton is my 3rd keep. Must be a 2 year bridge deal for $25M or so.  Maybe. But I'm being realistic.

Something not to be overlooked.  As the clock strikes zero and he’s told he was voted Super Bowl MVP, he replies "Super Bowl Champ”.  He truly doesn’t care about the individual accolades and stats, he just wants to win.

So nice to have a QB who "gets it."

What are you talking about?  They literally won the next 2 Superbowls without him. 😂 I’d say almost won a 3rd but we obliterated them.

He's getting sentimental and Overrating Williams. He's obviously productive .that said he's going to demand more than what the Eagles should pay.

I think their WRs are going to be fine cause i think rice and worthy are good enough assuming rice comes back the same from his injury. They have OL issues and their running backs are really not very good. They are about to lose Trey smith so it’s gonna get worse. Pacheco is injury prone and really is solid. He’s actually seen a decrease in yards per carry each of the last 3 years. Went from 4.9 to 4.6 to 3.7. Some on him and some on their oline when they moved thuney to LT had 50% of their rushing attacks go for 0 to negative yards. And hunt is at the end of his career.

i didn’t even mentioned kelce is at the end. His yards per reception was terrible this year at 8.5 yards per reception. Noah gray is a solid backup but kelce is making a lot of money and not worth it as he began his decline in 2023 and it accelerated in 2024

Nah. There offense has tailed off a ton since that deal. Don't be fooled,. That was the defense winning them 2 championships. With a lot of ref help and now they are done as fefense has slipped some. They miss his vertical threat DEARLY. They are a shell of their earlier Chiefs offenses. I like McDuffie but still don't make that deal 20 out of 20 times. Mahomes, Kelce and Hill were unstoppable.

So what’s your point here that it was a "mistake” to let Tyreek go?  That they would have won the next 2 Superbowls by more points?

Also, how do you know the team that was constructed to win 2 Superbowls in a row would have been possible if they signed Tyreek to his mega contract?  With Mahomes cap hit and the highest paid WR in the league, it would have prohibited them a ton.  Maybe they can’t sign Chris Jones again.

The answer is that it was not a mistake at all.  They believed in their QB so much that they literally didn’t even care about the WR position, and because of that decision, they won 2 Superbowls in a row, and just got to a 3rd.

I’d like him back too, but it would be stupid to pay him 20 mil plus. I was referring to his statement that the Chiefs losing Tyreek Hill was a mistake. Then they won 2 Superbowls in a row.  😂😂 Yeah that really bit them in the ass!

Tbh their biggest issue was they allowed their OL to deteriorate to the point they had to starter caliendo and Taylor. Neither should be starting and thuney is a guard not a tackle. About to lose Trey smith too. I’m surprised Reid allowed it to get to this point as he is about building up the trenches as his philosophy to success

Imo their 2023 Super Bowl is largely due to spags and the defense carrying that team. Their offense at one point was absolutely miserable against the pathetic raiders. Their defense held opponents in the playoffs to 15.8 ppg. Held the bills, ravens and niners offenses to 24, 10 and 22 (went to OT to get 22). Field position by their defense really helped the chiefs in that playoff run.

It's a mistake cuz the window is now more shut and offense is in shambles. And now there's no Tyreek to have a dominant O with Rice and Worthy to boot. You'd still have a solid core to work with Post Travis retirement. There's a good chance they would have won with Tyreek anyway as he already won 1 with them in a dominating fashion. They squeeked thru the last 2 Superbowls with smoke and mirrors and hot playoffs with favorable ref calls. Not sustainable.

I certainly rate him more highly than you. Much more so. He may be the most powerful guard in the league (not just my opinion - Baldy has called him the most powerful blocker on our OL, which puts him close to the top of the hill) and he had never played it before at any level. He’s only going to get better, and he’s 25. Mailata has gone on record asking Howie to bring him back; I think that means more than your or my opinion.

Only one man's opinion matters. If Stoutland feels the dropoff to Steen or Keegan is too large, he'll tell Howie to pay the man.

Becton won't get top OG money, one season, questions about his knees, and he was good but not elite (struggles a bit with pass blocking and not a second level athlete).

So here are some of the contracts free agent guards signed in 2024 all older then Becton

1. ramsb_logo.gif Kevin Dotson, G, Rams. Age: 27. star.gif star.gif star.gif star.gif
Re-signed with Rams (3 years, $48 million)

Kevin Dotson was the Rams’ top offensive lineman last year, pass protecting well and blasting open huge running lanes for Kyren Williams.

2. ravensb_logo.gif Kevin Zeitler, G, Ravens. Age: 34. star.gif star.gif star.gif halfstar.gif
Signed with Lions (1 year)

Kevin Zeitler has been an outstanding pass-protecting guard for a long time, but he turns 34 this offseason.

3. lionsb_logo.gif Jonah Jackson, G, Lions. Age: 27. star.gif star.gif star.gif
Signed with Rams (3 years, $51 million)

Jonah Jackson is a solid, but unspectacular guard. At 27, he could improve in the coming years.

4. dolphinsb_logo.gif Robert Hunt, G, Dolphins. Age: 28. star.gif star.gif star.gif
Signed with Panthers (5 years, $100 million)

Robert Hunt was an effective guard when he played last year, but he missed most of the second half of the year with an injury.

5. lionsb_logo.gif Graham Glasgow, G, Lions. Age: 32. star.gif star.gif star.gif
Re-signed with Lions (3 years, $20 million)

Graham Glasgow’s pass protection isn’t very good, but he’s a run-blocking force who can play both guard and center.

Here are the Right Guard AAVs from Spotrac.  That provides a fuller picture.  When you rank Right Guards in the NFL where does Becton rank?  Middle of the pack would be 15th or 16th. That would be  Glasgow or Zeitler on this list.

Yeah I caught that as well.  Not a good example to make his case. I would also like Williams back  too. Not at the price it will probably take.   The Eagles have proven they can draft well lately.  If people have fear that they can't replace Williams what are we even doing here.

Understood. We'll see. I think that amount will be very difficult to fit but who knows

Becton would probably be in the Dotson/Teller range. Not elite money but above average.

If Howie can re-up him for Scherff money, another steal.

The funniest part was that I think if he had his choice... anyone else would have been Super Bowl MVP.  He looked beyond miserable at Disney World doing all that stuff.

Day 3 big body at guard if Becton goes. Micah Morris from Eagles South (Georgia) 6'4" 330

Maybe Hollin Pierce out of Rutgers at 6'8" 354 as a G-T depth piece as he develops?

Steen is not exactly little at 6'6" 321

The big body has to be athletic too.

I love Dart. He's been a treat to watch at Ole Miss. Kinda Baker Mayfield, kinda Johnny Manziel and kinda Bo Nix. I'd much rather the Giants get Shedeur Sanders than Dart. I was trying to make the point yesterday that right now there are 2 sure fire top 10 QBs, but we will easily see 4-5 after combine and workout season. Teams want to find their guy.

Scouts at the senior bowl said he only saw one wow throw from him the other week. He wasn't good there.

Is nothing funnier than QBs every single year get over hyped, a yearly tradition like no other.

Still don't understand why people don't want to field the best possible team this coming year if you can? Why sacrifice Williams? You can trade him in a couple years if you need cap space. Or trade Davis or Ojomo? Why not hold the assets as long as you can and let this play out. Howie will figure this out. These contracts will all be staggered with Carter and later with Nolan Smith , Quinyon & Coop etc. Injuries happen as well to dicate cap spending such as the case with Dean now.

Williams is worth more than a late 3rd round compensatory pick that can't produce anything for another year. That's almost like a late 4th rounder in true value. I'm here to run it back with the key young guys from this season, so this dominating defense can sustain itself with out much of a hiccup.

You can’t trade the Signing Bonus.
