So basically the news we got today is they're banning our play and getting rid of our starting TE, great!!!

What happened with Goedert?

I think the most interesting thing about the upcoming draft for the Eagles is the game theory behind it. We can say stick to the board and draft BPA, but the team is basically going with stars and rookie deal players and trying to get rid of middle class contracts like Goedert and CJGJ. We also know the team is earmarking big contracts over the next several seasons for Carter, Jurgens and eventually, possibly, Smith, Mitchell and DeJean (and Davis?).

With that in mind, if we’re already planning to pay DeJean and Mitchell, would we bother taking a corner who would potentially be in line for a contract extension at the same time as DeJean and Mitchell? Would we take a safety at all in round 1 for similar reasons, even if it’s a high probability type of player like Starks? Does Howie swing at a high-contract position to really get the value out of a potential first-round hit?

Eagles will trade out of the first round.  They should trade up for Tyler Warren though.

For a copycat league this is kind of a hilarious reaction to teams not being able to copy

I'm not sure that's entirely true because they're going to pay Blankenship and some other middle tier guys. I think CJGJ was more "We couldn't pay Blankenship and CJGJ" than it was "We can't pay him the money." And I'm still not sure they couldn't afford CJGJ btw. Something about that trade just doesn't sit well with me. I refuse to believe they crunched the numbers and it was a physical impossibility to pay Carter/Jurgens/Nolan/Mitchell/DeJean because CJGJ's 8.5m or whatever it is i 2025. Like, c'mon.

And another thing: it's honestly absurd that we are even talking about "Mitchell's and DeJean's upcoming extensions!" right now. They're Fing rookies. I get the team has to plan for them, but the fact that money on the books in 2025 will affect 2024 rookies for when they eventually get paid is absolutely absurd. And I can't believe people are buying that nonsense honestly.

But to your question, I've mentioned before I think taking CB in round 1 is highly unlikely because it would guarantee one of that CB, Mitchell, DeJean don't get a second contract. The Eagles won't be pissing away a first round pick like that. Ideally your first rounder is a player who will be here into their 30's if they're good enough to. Not a guy you gotta let go at 25. I think they'd take Starks if he's best on the board, but I still think they will go DL and I'd be legit surprised if the first rounder isn't a DL.

WOOHOO 10,000 views on YouTube! Still only a small drop in the bucket of what's needed to get monetized, though. We only have 6 eligible hours of viewing, out of 4,000 needed and 95 subscribers out of 1,000 needed.

Put the Super Bowl on there... I will personally get you the 4k needed!

I’m sure this was posted earlier but I was out of pocket for a bit…

Per Gunn…

There's no doubt the Eagles want Dallas Goedert back this season ... but they're hoping to reduce his financial number .. Howie is the best at moving money to make things work .. but in this case if the two sides can't come to an agreement ... the birds will find a trade partner.

Yea, it's getting banned

He said, "we don't actually have a real reason to ban it, but we can make up all kinds of things to try to justify it.  We're the NFL and we will do what we want to do for any reason we want to do it."

Yeah.... that's appropriate.

Imagine the NFL banning the forward pass back in the early 1900s because it wasn't a true football play.

OK.   I did.   Now what?   🤔

I dunno, that's as far as I got.

Carry on.

If we’re banning plays because of the risk of injury, what’s left?

The coin flip.

You forgot that it doesn't "look like football"

But this does

NFL Kickoff Rules Yield Return in Preseason, but That May Not Last

Who would have guessed 5 years ago that we’d be talking about all our picks being so good we have too many guys to re-sign and be worried about re-signing unknown pick 32 to a high value contract years in the future?

Flag Football. And even that doesn't totally eliminate the risk of injury.

I've thought about full games, but I want to research a little and see if other non-NFL channels are doing that. The NFL allows clips (they earn revenue from it), but I don't know if they'd allow full games or not.

I've actually thought about breaking out my collection of old games to upload, but I'm afraid the NFL would strike them and we'd lose the channel.

Doesn't sound like he's coming back. Have to just continue to hope something can be worked out...

Just post the first half.   The game ended by then anyway.  ;)

The spike and kneel down, but there's no skill in those plays, so they'll need banned too.

Move the kickoff back to the 35 so that we have more kickoff returns...because that will be safer.

Before the game, each team writes down a series of offensive and defensive plays. The plays are then placed into two separate helmets. After the coin toss, the winning team draws a play from the offense’s helmet, followed by the defense selecting a play from their own. I suppose there’s a risk of paper cuts, though…

It was pretty funny when Jeffery Lurie, born in 1951, today said he remembered when the "forward pass” was the hot topic controversy of the NFL, which was in 1933.
