We have never had a light box DC before.  It’s a new ride for all of us.

I get peoples concern on Davis but the concern over picks spent 3 yrs ago seems like a sunk cost fallacy. Nobody values picks more than me, but getting them right is far more important than how many you make. Impact over quantity before day 3.

now do i extend him? Not so sure about that but the 5th yr option is a no brainer at that price. Can defer the decision until you have more information.

@mattwill, why the confused reaction?  You got 20 years on me. So I have to ask, if you are hip to kids these days, how do you do it?  I got a threenager who’s already too much so I need EVERY angle I can get to keep up before she’s a teen and hates me.

Wait til she is a 16 and can drive…

just have fun with it. You wont keep up with their  jargon and drama so just teach them and protect them

I think that is precisely why they will pick up the option. Based on his three years, he’s not worth a $13M cap hit, but they will pay the premium to get more info about whether he can earn more snaps and become worth a multi-year extension.

This feels less like Josh Sweat to me, and more about the Eagles not wanting to pay him given all the injuries.

I think they've mapped everything and assuming Jurgens gets signed they'll be paying very good money to 8 starters on offense without TE.  I think TE, RG and WR3 are positions in Howie's plan that can't get paid big $

Rest in peace, Val Kilmer. His role as Doc Holliday was one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen in film, and it’s a crime he wasn’t even nominated.

The deadliest question in the world: Does this make me look fat?

The Brotherly Shove is not Rugby.  Rugby Union has 15 players on the field, 30 for both sides.  Rugby League has 13, 26 for both sides. Sevens Rugby obviously has 7 players, 14 for both sides.

None of the iterations of that have a player like the Brotherly Shove in it.  You have a scrum that can contain a max limit of players (8 per side in Union).  The ball exits the scrum largely in back 3 for Union and is disbursed to the backs or forwards that leave the scrum. This is seen as:

A maul is:

In rugby, a maul occurs when the ball carrier is held by one or more opponents, and one or more of the ball carrier's team-mates bind on the ball carrier, with the goal of driving forward towards the opponent's goal line. This is seen as:

irishmaul1.gif

A ruck is:

In rugby, a ruck is a phase of play that forms when players from both teams, on their feet, close around the ball on the ground after a tackle, competing for possession. It takes many forms including try line stuff but can be seen as

Ergo. There is a lot of ignorance in the NFL. They don't do a set play at the goal line where everyone stops, lines up and shoves in unison. Find a better excuse to ban it than "rugby" play

Just as a point of history... football was adapted from rugby.  That's where the term "touchdown" comes from.  Laterals are legal, because they are legal in rugby.  The tackling of the ball carrier was because that was rugby.  The center "snap"... rugby.  The conversion for points after touchdown.  The field goal posts having uprights and a crossbar.  7 points for a touchdown with successful conversion by kicking.  3 points for a kick not after a touchdown.  Penalty kick versus field goal...

So many elements are specifically translated from rugby, so the "this looks like rugby" is a weak statement.

F it, lets implement more rugby rules.  When you score a try, you kick the extra points from where you touch the ball down in the end zone.  Add more excitement to a scoring play by having the ball carrier continue to fight until he reach as close to the center of the end zone as possible.

A couple of changes were made on the server today, unrelated (as far as I know) to the recent sluggishness that we've experienced. But the changes could potentially help. So let me know if you notice any differences. Also with the embedding issues.

I'm not occasionally seeing the few second hesitation before loading a new page. I was previously.

I watch a fair amount of rugby, I lived in New Zealand for a couple years and am a huge all blacks fam and ive often thought this same thing as well.

One of the things the NFL has implemented from rugby in an effort to increase player safety is teaching and trying to enforce rugby style " cheek to cheek" tackling

Meaning my face cheek to your butt cheek when tackling

Rugby has a more narrow legal tackling radius, high tackles are a penalty, low tackles a penalty and the NFL has brought rugby guys in the offseason to help implement this type of tackling in an effort to decrease injury

I think something that could be cool thatll never happen could be implementing red cards and having a guy sit in a " sin bin" can you imagine an offense going against a D thar only has 10 guys or vise versa for two minutes.

In the NFL unless in hurry up that would only be like 2 plays and if the D had the advantage the O could just stall it out to keep it to 2 plays but would be kinda fun

I don't really care whether the tush push gets banned or not.  However, with the change on kickoffs to promote fewer touch backs, NFL is encouraging the most violent "play" in football to happen more frequently.   Regardless of the shorter runway for the kicking team, the returner and defenders have ample time to get to top speed causing violent collisions.

So while they are so concerned about potential catastrophic injuries on the tush push they change the rule to promote what is already verified as the play that actually causes catastrophic injuries.

I use to play in college.  If they are really that concerned with player safety, aligning with rugby is the way to go.

Pretty sure Princeton ran the tush push to win it.
