Great breakdown of Hurts' performance. His ability to read the field and adjust on the fly has come such a long way.

The game has really slowed down for him. He flat out owned Spags' disguised blitzes and coverages.

Team loses arguably best WR in NFL.
Team now has free cap space to build out roster, including defense.
Team literally wins 2 of next 3 Superbowls, and gets to the 3rd.

You as GM:  "Getting rid of Tyreek Hill was a huge mistake.”

Chiefs built their defense with their other picks with Veach along the draft the year they traded Hill. Only pick that matters is McDuffy in that Hill trade. Which he's a very good player. But I am not breaking an incoming surefire dynasty with Mahomes, Kelce and Hill at that time. That was an unstoppable trio. Now it's crumbled with just Mahomes left over. 2-3 years later. Still hate that deal. That would be like breaking up Barkley, Hurts and AJ Brown right now in their primes. It's just wrong as a fan and in the overall calculations. Still think they would have much of the same team (minus McDuffy) but with Hill and Veach's other good picks and still having a hall of fame defensive coordinator in Spags to keep defense solid.

Chris Jones wasn't leaving with or without Hill. They would have scrapped some of their dumb offensive line signings or whatever else before letting him leave. It's an easy narrative to say they couldn't do any team building a team without Hill. We are doing fine with team building and paying mega contracts to AJ Brown, Devonta and plenty more coming. In that deal, Hill wanted to stay for 5 more million per year and the Chiefs were being stingy. That trade turned a future hall of famer QB to a dink and dunker game manager type of QB. I like the old Mahomes offense as a football fan personally. He's easier to contain right now as we saw in the Superbowl.

I really hope we hear about some non-token OC interview tomorrow. Nothing will break my Super Bowl high but I hate to see us repeat the same mistake we’ve made so many times with internal hires. Patullo could work out but I don’t really see a reason to believe he will if we’re being honest. The only thing is the unpredictability of coaches

Davis, Dean, and Smith are important to Carter's environment here.

It wouldn't be a waste to spend a some money on Davis to keep your best player on D in line.

I'm curious if there's a precedent for an NFL team to have a babysitter on the roster for another player.

I know about Gretzky and his bodyguard back in the day, Marty McSorley... but this would be very different.

This team is awesome... full of awesome people.

Only one man's opinion matters. If Stoutland feels the dropoff to Steen or Keegan is too large, he'll tell Howie to pay the man.

Becton won't get top OG money, one season, questions about his knees, and he was good but not elite (struggles a bit with pass blocking and not a second level athlete).

With all due respect, your second paragraph is nonsense.

I know Big Ben made a huge deal about the Steelers re-signing Charlie Batch. This happens a lot in the NBA though.

Either way, Carter is arguably the most talented player we have had since Reggie, so whatever it takes to maximize his potential.

I am going to be buying a painting of Hurts. It will end up being the 2nd Hurts photo I have in my garage. You have no idea how mad I get every time I enter my garage and see Hurts in there. Cause Im such a hater.

Kelce retiring probably has helped push him to do even more

This can’t be. You wanted the Eagles to lose the Superbowl, and first and foremost, you would rather be right about Hurts than have this team destroy the Chiefs for their 2nd Lombardi.

You cant imagine my seething every time that garage door goes up and I see that picture. I cant imagine the psychological damage that will be inflicted once I get that painting in there. I guess I will be double mad.

I'm firmly against that being the reason to keep him

  • Find the right OC
  • Sign Baun
  • Extend Jurgens and Blankenship
  • Try to keep Williams, Becton, and/or Sweat
  • Address Slay’s and Goedert’s contracts
  • Pick up Davis’ 5th year option
  • Keep drafting linemen

This is spot on. I think I'd have Baun at the top.

I’m debating whether to buy a Josh Sweat SB LIX jersey (I believe he was the actual game MVP) or a Saquon Barkley SB LIX jersey for being their season MVP

Yeah, I don't like that sort of precedent.  It needs to be about much more than that.

Yeah, Becton was an absolute force this year.

This idea that we can just throw anyone in at OL and Stoutland will magically make them good enough to get all-pro votes like Becton did seems crazy to me.

They’ll both be gone by 2027 if that matters to you.

If the eagles want to bring Becton back, they’ll want him locked up long term with a view towards moving him to RT. Maybe they include some escalators for the position switch, but they won’t want to deal with losing Becton, LJ, and Steen in the same offseason.

I think he get ls a longer term deal here or he’s gone.

It's my personal belief that Lane won't retire as soon as some fans think. I'm not worried about RT until he gives his 2 year notice.

Listen to what he said here:

Lane Johnson loves football and loves being a part of a team.

Not just crazy.  Demonstrably false... how soon we forget:

Steen was really good every time he was thrown in.  It’s not like there’s an unproven commodity if we lose Becton. Again, I don’t think anyone wants to get rid of Becton, but they’re not gonna be able to re-sign everyone.
