I assumed he had a crazy contract that would make him untradeable for them or us.

Same.   I'd take the 2nd round pick, but figured Carr was included as an albatross and that's why the pick was so high... like the Osweiler trade, back in the day.

Yeah, not sure why Carr was included as part of the hypothetical trade.  I looked at it as McKee for the 40th overall pick…and that alone is a no-brainer for Howie.

Most exciting kick in 30 years.

Give me my kickoffs back.

Doesn’t matter as long as the Saints have to pay him (I wouldn’t take Carr’s salary as part of the deal).

But the Saints’ 2nd rounder is 40 overall….tell me Howie wouldn’t take that for McKee if it was offered today.

According to Spotrac, Carr’s salary in 2025 is $1,255,000 in 2025 and $40,000,000 in 2026.  The dead cap for NO is $78,877,000 with most of it in 2026.  2025 would have a cap savings for them of the $1,255,000 salary amount the Eagles would be paying him

Of the $150 million, $100 million was guaranteed, and at the end of the 2025 season that guarantee will have been satisfied, leaving a non-guaranteed $40 million base salary and a non-guaranteed $10 million roster bonus in 2026.  So, he could be cut by the Eagles at the end of 2025 with no dead cap.

New Orleans gets out from under Carr’s contract and gets their QB of the future who already has a working relationship with Moore .

You think NO could take the $78M cap hit.     I can't wait to see the financial gymnastics they go through to get through that one.    That is over 25% of the cap for 2026 that I've seen projected.   Not sure they can handle that big a hit.

They are stuck with that hit regardless, and if they keep Carr in 2026 then they add $50M on top of the $78M.

Well... it could be his, or it could be hoss.  We'll likely never know.   But that's why I don't usually post from my phone.   My fingers are too big for the tiny little keyboard.   Too many typos.

I hear you loud and clear.  I have the same problem.

Sounds like they need to keep him another year.

Good question.  The objection raised earlier to trading McKee was that we would have no backup for Hurts.  Car would be at least as good a backup as Pickett was, so including him in the deal would help out New Orleans while at the same time providing the Eagles with inexpensive injury insurance.

I don't think that's true.  If he's on the Saints, his 2026 cap hit is 'only' $69M, and of that, $40M is the salary... which means that they can get creative with it.    And if they cut him post-June 1 before the 2026 salary hits... they have 'only' $19.2M dead for 2026 and $31.4M for 2027.

If they do that he costs them a minimum of $1,255,000 more than if they trade him

Look at the Cash tab not the Cap tab.  Of the $150 million he has already received $98,745,000 of that. All that is left of the $100 million guaranteed amount is the 2025 salary of $1,255,000.

Perhaps we can package McKee with Huff while we’re at it.

I wouldn’t trade McKee for a second rounder. Without him, I think the Eagles would be screwed if Hurts suffered a big injury. With him, I still think they would be contenders. To me, that level of comfort he provides is worth more than a round two pick.

Fair enough…I see your point, which is also my point.  If the Eagles are in talks to trade him, it’s for big compensation.

2027 is $40.4 not $31.4.  Add that to 2025’s $20.4 and 2026’s $19.2 equals a total of $80 million.

Jeff Lurie made the comment the other day about whether or not the 2024 Eagles were one of the best teams (if not the best) in NFL history.

How would you stack up the 2024 team against the best teams of all time?

They're easily top 3, the league has way more parity now and we still had a top defense and a great offense. They literally dismantled the two teams they played in the NFCCG and Super Bowl. I won't entertain any competitors prior to probably the 80s, anything prior they were playing basically an entirely different game

another loss. Colin Castleton couldnt turn the season around, surprisingly.
