Becton has showed much more in the NFL than the other 2 mentioned here.  One highly touted coming in, like Becton but hadn't done anything to live up to that and the other just another JAG QB with athleticism, but no ability to play the position.

DTR needs to be ripped down to the studs and completely rebuilt.

Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for £5 million?”

The woman stammers: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill. Well, yes, I suppose….”

Churchill interrupts: "Would you sleep with me for £5?”

"Of course not! What kind of woman do you think I am?”

Churchill replies: "We’ve already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.”

This team knows how to coddle QBs and design an offense they can be successful in.

DTR had success as a rookie in pre-season, so there is hope we see him in that form again. Eagles still obviously liked him, so there must be a reason.

Agreed.  With that said, Iggles_Phan’s point about DTR being ripped down to the studs is a good one.

Wilkinson - Royals era of Oklahoma -Texas was epic.  I can’t remember any time when Texas - A&M determined the national champion

I really like his movement and understanding of blocking angles. There is definitely something to work with. But I’m not sure about his lower body strength or knee bend. Interesting prospect for sure.

Eagles met with Major Williams from Carson-Newman

NCCA rivalries have suffered from realignment.  The college rivalries were great because the players would change, but the coaches would remain.

The ten-year war between Woody and Bo was epic.  Switzer and Osborne.  Dean Smith and Coach K.   The Big East coaches in it's heyday.

But they all pale in comparison to Brady/Manning.  :smoke:

Well back in those days, Oklahoma was Big 12 and their rival was Nebraska. The Red River rivalry is just an excuse to go to the Texas State Fair and to give credence to the joke "do you know why Texas doesn’t float into the Gulf?”

The Texas alumni are Texas Exes. To which the Aggies respond with the Former Students Association and the motto there is no such thing as an ex Aggie.  (Having survived my freshman year at A&M, I am fond of saying I am living proof there are ex Aggies.)  They started the whole Texas thing with hand signs for Teams. Gig ‘em and Hook em Horns (not to be confused with the vastly superior Cougar Paw of UofH.)  Hell, Aggie jokes still abound (although in East Texas, they do have some cross border pollination of Boudreaux and Thibodeaux jokes - probably politically incorrect nowadays - take the place of Aggies.)

Oh yeah, the punchline "because Oklahoma sucks”.

BTW, zero tolerance means zero tolerance on the reservations in Eastern Oklahoma but I get a kick they thumb their noses at the state by legalizing pot. The tribes did the same to Noem in South Dakota and then banned her from their lands.

I think he became passable.

You have to distinguish between in-line blocking TEs and move blockers.

H-backs have to be able to hit LBs in the open field, but you're an idiot if you line them up against a DE and expect them to pass block (or seal them off against the run).

True TEs can handle most DEs (not the 3-4 guys, but the pass rush first guys) and give you a lot more options in terms of both run design and pass protection.

But they tend to be 250-260 lbs and less nifty in the pass game.

There there is Jason Witten.

I'd say the hate was pretty even until A&M defected to the SEC.

Now that they're both in the same division of the SEC, it should be pretty even again.

Of course, the Red River rivalry was played in Baja Oklahoma.

Once spent a summer in College Station, . . . it's not even a fun college town.

Draft seems earlier than usual this year.

97.5 saying Rob Thompson is at the top of the Philadelphia HC/Manager power rankings above Sirianni.

It's not though. Maybe just winning the SB makes it seem that way?

of course. But I presume if the eagles felt strongly about that comparison they wouldnt have made the trade for DTR.

Did they make the trade for DTR or make the trade to offload Pickett?

DTR's value is that of a trade throw-in, nothing more.   He was a 5th round pick 2 years ago and when he got into games, he was frankly, pretty terrible with a pretty terrible team.  No one helped him, and he helped no one.  1 TD and 10 INTs is a poor starting point.  So, my expectations for him are extremely low.   If the Eagles get anything out of him, he'll have exceeded my expectations.  But, IMO, his presence in no way makes McKee more expendable.  McKee is the #2 and if he were traded, the Eagles would be in desperate need of a #2.  So, I don't see McKee as being remotely available for trade.  A team would have to dramatically overpay to get him... which I don't see happening.

Wrong. Starting the last Thursday in April is way earlier than the usual start of late April.

It's pretty typical, probably the Thu-Sat schedule and something to do with other league dates.

Well Dallas is in OK in the view of many Texans.

I go back to the Big Eight days, but you are right, Texas was Southwest Conference and Oklahoma was Big Eight.  That was what, for me and many others, made the rivalry so compelling and exciting.  It transcended conference and was an early fork in the road to the mythical National Championship.

It was always a game between Oklahoma and Baja Oklahoma.

How they handle DTR in OTAs and TC and the Preseason games will answer the first part of that question.  The answer to the second part is (for me) "Yes”

Loveland playing at michigan, a heavy run team has to be able to block a little right?

From what I’ve seen, not really. He’s more of a big slot type of TE. You really don’t want him lining up next to the right tackle with his hand on the dirt and blocking a lot. It just isn’t using his skill set correctly. Tall and lean build, so I’m not confident he has the stoutness to be that guy even with some time in the weight room.

I think he’ll be a good pro, just not the right fit here assuming we want to continue to be a run heavy team.

I agree 100% with all your points.  If McKee is traded, Howie will need to bring in a viable backup.

Madrid vs Barcelona has to take the cake.

It’s got the Babe Ruth controversy of the best player in the world switching sides with DiStefano in the 1950’s and Figo in the 1990’s, the series is almost dead even at 105-103-52, they’re 2 of the 5 most successful clubs in European soccer, and they’re the two most famous sports teams in the world regardless of sport.

Oh, and the ACTUAL greatest player rivalry ever… Ronaldo vs Messi.

Nah. Soccer is dumb and relevant only every 4 years.  Then the fad dies till the next World Cup for us Americans.
