And even make Thursday night work if a bye precedes the TNF matchup.  Maybe then TNF would be a decent game.

If they have to have international games, make them on Thursdays after the bye. 2 birds.

That pays way too much homage to the record without regards to numerous things, including strength of schedule.  This sounds like more whiny Vikings crap.  They had every opportunity to win their division and they didn’t.  Just like the commies didn’t beat us.  So they get away games.

Let’s examine what the NFCN has seemed to propose this offseason:

Detroit - our CBs can’t cover without cheating so let’s change the defensive holding calls.

Green Bay - we can’t beat the tush push and our coach can’t call a successful 4th down play to save his soul.

Vikings - we couldn’t win their division but beat a lot of bad teams so we should have had a home game.

Are the Bears the only team with integrity in that division.  This level whining should get a trophy.

Lions are the team that put the playoff seeding proposal out there

Those boundaries could be drawn to better maintain rivalries. Minn, GB, Chicago, Detroit makes just as much sense. Browns, Buffalo, Jets, Pats. Giants, Eagles, Ravens, Commies. And so on. If the premise is mileage reduction, this grouping seems arbitrary.

IMG_9632.thumb.jpeg.70c4db5aeca4823d095ba129061ddfa0.jpegThe graphic isn’t mine. But it is useful for the purposes of discussion.  It makes sense to start any discussion on the West Coast.  Hard to argue with the four they chose.  Big Sky also makes sense, although LV, Arizona and the two Texas teams makes some sense as well.  If you do choose the latter, having the Saints with the three Florida team becomes logical. But in that scenario, you now have the Broncos and Chiefs needing two dance partners, which logically is GB and Minnesota. That moves farther away from your stated goal.

I would leave Big Sky and Atlantic and South alone, and would move Buffalo into the Northeast and Detroit into Great Lakes West.  Then to replace Detroit annd Buffalo in the Zgreat Lakes East,  Indianapolis and Cincinnati would move in, which would preserve the Pittsburgh and Ohio rivalries, as well as keeping the existing NFC North teams together. The Eagles would join the Ravens, Commanders and Panthers in the Mid-Atlantic.

If the proposed (by someone else other than me) 18 games schedule with the Super Bowl being the only inter Conference game were adopted, the AFC could be the Pacific, Big Sky, Great Lakes West and South, while the NFC could be the Great Lakes East, Northeast, Mid Atlantic, and Atlantic divisions.

Please pull grimes and walker from this sixers game… we don’t need to win this meaningless game

All Thursday Night teams should have a Bye the week before their Thursday game.

Could’ve tried that until they allowed for Thursday night games to be flexed. And the rule change at the owners meetings to just informing teams 21 days prior.

Would make it a bit stale though with matchups year to year without any interconfrence play.

They could adopt that propsoal to be 6 vs divisions a year then on a rotational basis you play 2 other divisions within your confrence and one division form the other confrence.

The argument that was made in the media discussion was that the only way to ensure the teams in the seeding decision have played highly comparable schedules would be to have all the "other” divisions be from their own Conference. Otherwise teams would be ( like is being done now) playing divisions that the other team being seeded didn’t have to play.

The other problem is early season Thursday games which would mean a very early first Bye week for the teams playing in those early Thursday games.

If the season has 20 weeks and 2 byes per team, there would be 16 "natural” Thursday games, plus the two extra Thursday games on Thanksgiving.  There is no Thursday game the last week of the season and the Thursday season opener doesn’t need a bye week.  That yields 19 plus 2 … 21.  Then the question becomes, does every team get two Thursday games.  If so, 9 more Thursday games are needed to get to 32.

That sounds really ugly.

I’ve gotten close to that precipice.

I wouldn’t say that necessarily…he’s done the same things those commissioners did, water down the sport to make it ‘more entertaining and marketable’. The NFL is however the only ones who’ve managed to capture the average joe who gets into fantasy and sports gambling.  It’s still the No Fun League.

How has he watered down the sport?

Arguably it is broken.  The proposal I regurgitated is a bridge too far for me, but it is a viable possibility.

Fewer injuries as well.

Consistent!

Anyone here have an iphone who has the Apple sports app that puts live scores on their lock screen? For some reason it just stopped working for me today. Even rebooted my phone, and checked my ipad and same issue. So I'm wondering if it's the app itself. Anyone here have it and is it working for you?

Good defensive battles loses viewers and isn’t good for gambling and fantasy.  Various other rule changes have made the game nearly unwatchable.  All while refusing to adopt technology on the fields to keep up with what a camera crew and network can provide the viewer at home.  Sounds like…baseball, basketball, hockey?

I feel like if we did a full realignment like that, Philly belongs with WAS and BAL. I get that the NY markets are higher value, but that division would be a big yuck

I get NY-PHI-BOS being the dream, but thematically we just fit so much better with Baltimore

Philadelphia to midatlantic

Buffalo to Northeast

Detroit to Great Lakes West

Indy and Cindy to Great Lakes East

boom

Big game for the tanknwatch tomorrow. New Orleans vs Brooklyn. If NO wins we move to within 1 game of the 4th best odds. With only 2 games to go.

Also, said in the 6ers thread, and not to get political but the most 76ers thing that can possibly happen is we all celebrate winning a top 5 pick, draft Maluach, and then he gets shipped back to South Sudan. Its going to happen.

Truly the sixers way

Dang, that is a tough sequence to end the game for Houston. Crazy they were not able to even get off a shot on their last possession.

Think Houston led for all but like 17 seconds in the entire game until the last minute.

Helluva comeback by Florida and elite defense when it mattered.

Houston's last three possessions, all in the final minute:

Turnover
Turnover
Turnover

Zero shot attempts. Woof.

That has the added resonance of all the New York teams in the same division together.
