Have you taken the time to calculate the return on investment from your proposed scenario?  If you haven’t, you ought to.  If you have then compare that ROI to the ROI that the Eagles would receive from drafting Derrick Harmon or Walter Nolen with that pick.

How does lack of super stars make it uninteresting?  Picking at #32, the Eagles were never going to get one of the super stars.  Taking the time to imagine one of the super stars in Kelly Green is simply indulging in fantasy.

I actually agree with you. All of these Debbie downers trying to suck out everyone elses fun by saying this draft sucks is getting annoying. First of all, the NFL draft never sucks. Second, this is a good year for the Eagles to pick so late since this is a draft that is more about depth of good players than superstar blue chip talent. Third, the fact that there are so many players that are polarizing and have such a wide range of outcomes in the 15-50 area makes for what should b a crazy couple of nights with a lot of surprising picks.

If people want to say that this draft is devoid of true elite blue chip talent (beyond Carter and Hunter) and high level QB's, fine. Saying this draft sucks is just stupid and wrong.

We'll get Abdul Carter. We just have to wait 5 years. This is the team he wants to play for. It works out since we currently have a great #11 on the roster.

Charles Grant screams Jeff Stoutland guy so much it's not even funny

I really like Grant.  The question that is uppermost with him is whether he can get enough junk in the trunk to deal with NFL power rushers.

We have too many needs and not enough premium picks to trade up. Trade down would be ideal.

They have more picks than they will be able to actually keep on the roster in 2025 and 2026.  I don't see the problem with trading up to target specific players.

2025 - 1, 2, 3, 5, 5, 5
2026 - 1, 2, 3, 3, 3* (Williams), 4, 4* (Sweat), 5, 5, 5* (Becton), 7  ( * indicates projected compensatory pick)

So, I absolutely can see packing a 2026 3rd round pick in order to move up in the 2025 draft... or one of the 5ths, even 2 of the 5ths, and then try to get back into Day 3 again in 2025 using the 2026 picks to do it.

There aren't really the 'blue chip' types in this draft, but there are going to be solid players that will fill needs in this draft for quite a while.  But even so, there will be some players that just fit better than others.

So you *ARE* in favor of drafting Sanders and trading Hurts.   Got it.

There's ways. I have a Google Drive where I can grant upload access (I believe) and I might even be able to grant upload access on YouTube but I'd have to look into that. But if anyone has something that they want to give the the board for the channel, it could be worked out.

I volunteered somewhere for a time and we used Google Drive to collaborate on stuff . A little painful to setup correctly, but a good way to share items and hold them before making something live.  Not sure on would work for video, etc with the space available, but very doable for normal stuff

The NFL seem to like him, so he's in the protected class of players.  But at some point, the NFL in general can't ignore when someone appears to be a repeat offender and has to take some level of punishment.

I think Jalen being a potential flip was part of why he was drafted, but I also think they wanted a talented backup QB that had the skills to play in place of Wentz, and who could possibly become a starter just in case things with Wentz went south (which they did).

Ohio State IDL Tyleik Williams visited the Eagles, according to @AaronWilson_NFL.

Williams is the 21st reported prospect to visit Philadelphia ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

I believe an important piece of context for drafting Hurts was COVID. Besides what you said above, no one knew how the season would play out and many worried that there would be scores of people medically out every week. In that situation, where you might be cobbling together an offense with guys off the street then a mobile QB gives you a lot of options that a traditional backup that needs a good OL and consistent WRs doesn't. Big added bonus that if you're playing a cobbled together defense, a mobile QB will give them fits because they likely won't have discipline together.

I felt like it was a 4D chess move hedging against the COVID unknown.

Obviously the Eagles are picking 32 but I can't remember a year the Eagles brought in so few guys that projected as sure first round picks. Makes sense that they'd focus on the 1 or 2 guys but still they don't seem to be dreaming with their visits at all

I agree with this approach.  There are a number of players who are likely to go right around pick 40 that would be solid additions to this year’s Eagles.  So a trade up into that area using both a 2026 3rd and one or more of this year’s 5th Round picks makes a whole lot of sense.  Mason Taylor at TE or Xavier Watts at Safety are two that Howie could go after.

With that said, I’m not sure I agree with the point you make in your first paragraph.  There are indeed a limited number of roster spots but the newly drafted players are more likely to make the final roster than not make it.  The players who will be at greater risk of not making it are the current end of roster players like Tristan McCollum and EJ Jenkins and Thomas Booker et.al.

I agree.  4D chess in response to the circumstances.

Donovan E, Donovan J, Scourton, Conerly, Tyliek, Amos, Hairston, TJ Sanders... they'll be in our neighborhood I suppose, but yeah mostly fringe guys according to the consensus.

One of my sleepers got a new video

Here is a useful graphic I found on Reddit of the 21 Top 30 visits so far.  Tyleik Williams would be an addition to the Round 1 column

Makes me believe they don’t think Nolen is getting close to them and either they don’t think Starks or Emmanwori are or they have no intention of going safety.

but a few visits left could change

We know of nineteen Top 30 visits and one ,”local” (Reed).  We don’t know very much about coach visits at all.  It is interesting the number of players they have brought in that are likely Day 3 picks (4th and fifth).  I do find it interesting that the likely Day 1 and Day 2 targets they brought in are G/Ts (Jackson, Conerly, Grant, Mbow), DTs (Sanders, Turner, maybe Roberts ), Edge (Scourton, Ezeiruaku, Oladejo, Burch) and CB especially 1st rounders (Hairston, Amos).  Of note, none should require a lot of a move up and some might even be a move down target.

Uh... no.  When does the Number 1 defense strap up and go against the Number offense in practice?

Other teams don't run it nearly as well.  Why should they practice against it when other teams don't run it as well?  How often do defenses practice against traditional sneaks?

Why not have the backup offense run it against the defense? You can say it other teams don't run it well but whenever a team runs it against pur defense they pick up the 1st down.  It's not a traditional QB sneak. Would be just as much of a weapon that it is on offense as it would be on defense to be able to stop the tush push.

I've heard our scouting department is likely 5x larger than some other NFL teams (e.g., Bengals) - so perhaps Howie can get the homework done on the road, but this hasn't been his MO.  I guess I could look up our top-30 visits after LII to see if the FO was cagey when in a similar draft position... so only Mailata was brought in, while Goedert/Sweat/Maddox and Pryor were met only through the combine/SB (at least on the record).

You are probably right.  I copied and pasted the graphic from Reddit as is.  I’ll create one of our own so we can discuss it and adjust it based on those discussions.

it may be interesting to "stack” the blocks in the order of our preference. For example I would stack the first rounders with Eziraku at the top, followed by Scourton then Amos then Williams and with Conerly at the bottom.

What is it about WR that make them so crazy? I can't think of any other position that has that many divas and headcases.
