You are probably right.  I copied and pasted the graphic from Reddit as is.  I’ll create one of our own so we can discuss it and adjust it based on those discussions.

it may be interesting to "stack” the blocks in the order of our preference. For example I would stack the first rounders with Eziraku at the top, followed by Scourton then Amos then Williams and with Conerly at the bottom.

Yeah, I think Donovan Jackson is a 1st rounder.  Now he isn't a 330lb+ monster, so is he worth the premium to Stout?

Jarrian Jones (22), an unlikely participant in Eagles history.

Yesterday, I locked the Super Bowl Gameday Thread. It had been a full week since the last comment was posted and yesterday marked 2 months since the game. So unless everyone wants to keep it going for a while, I think that's a good point to retire the thread and move it into the 2024 Gameday Thread Archive

I'll wait a day to move it, in case everyone wants to keep it going, but I think 2 months is a pretty good run for a Gameday thread lol.

I agree with this approach.  There are a number of players who are likely to go right around pick 40 that would be solid additions to this year’s Eagles.  So a trade up into that area using both a 2026 3rd and one or more of this year’s 5th Round picks makes a whole lot of sense.  Mason Taylor at TE or Xavier Watts at Safety are two that Howie could go after.

With that said, I’m not sure I agree with the point you make in your first paragraph.  There are indeed a limited number of roster spots but the newly drafted players are more likely to make the final roster than not make it.  The players who will be at greater risk of not making it are the current end of roster players like Tristan McCollum and EJ Jenkins and Thomas Booker et.al.

JMO

My point was that the number of picks in '25 and '26 are what out numbers the available roster spots, not that this year they couldn't fit the 6 players that they have the picks for.  I probably could have worded that better.  '25 has 6 picks, which isn't that many, but '26 projects to be 11 draft picks.  I don't see that as a viable number, so you use the extra picks in '26 to move up in '25 and get better players rather than more players.

Does he?

When I think of eagles OTs, they’re real freaks of nature. Lane Johnson is about the same size but is the most athletic OT probably in NFL history. Obviously Mailata has rugby movement ability at 370 pounds.

Grant has Lane Johnson size but does he have Lane Johnson athleticism?

Over the years gameday threads have kind of teetered off. Now a days posts during the game are split between the blog and the GDT.

It’s a shame as posts from legendary games aren’t fully archived in one thread as so many of the regular posters just post here.

I know some other teams message boards, lock all other threads during a game so everyone posts on the GDT, didn’t OG TATE use to do that as well? Maybe we should do that again.

Here is a useful graphic I found on Reddit of the 21 Top 30 visits so far.  Tyleik Williams would be an addition to the Round 1 column

Marcus Mbow is a top 15 pick in a lot of the mock drafts I’ve seen from media guys.

Never mind, I might be thinking of Armand Membou ……..

He’s pretty damn freakish. Almost 35-inch arms and reportedly ran a 1.44 10 yard split, which if true, would be absolutely shocking at over 300 lbs.

Wrestling background too at a much lower weight, so the functional athleticism is there in spades.

Interesting the positions that are _not_ listed there.

No TE -- What is Howie gonna do with Dallas?   If we move Dallas either this year or next, I actually thought we might make an aggressive move for someone in the first 2 rounds.

No S until round 4 -- I'm guessing we're happy with what we have?  Or perhaps one of those CBs could play S?  Round 4 seems like a depth move, not expected to contribute anything immediately.

No WR -- I saw a few mocks that had us taking Luther Burden III.  No chance.

I hope it’s better than Underdogs. That book had almost no unique information. It was basically a bunch of quotes from press conferences and post game interviews. Would love if he actually sat down with people for new interviews or found new angles to cover the season.

That said, I’ll be buying it.

Next season I would like for all game day posts to be in the gameday threads for that reason. I brought it up this past season, but nobody wanted to screw up the mojo, so it stayed as it was.

I would also want non-Eagles games to be in either a game specific thread for each specific game or a general 'Around the NFL' Gameday thread, at least until the playoffs, then each game would have its own thread.

That would serve two purposes. One, it's more 'tidy' for Googlers (or whatever other search engine people use), to discover posts about their favorite team/game and thus bring them to the EMB, knowingly or otherwise.

Why would that matter to me? Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't. But it could bring guests to the board and guests see ads. Guests seeing ads brings the board revenue. Board revenue pays the bills. So I'm always looking at that aspect, because if I don't, then my credit card pays the boards bills and I prefer eating to paying the boards bills on my credit card  lol

They have more picks than they will be able to actually keep on the roster in 2025 and 2026.  I don't see the problem with trading up to target specific players.

2025 - 1, 2, 3, 5, 5, 5
2026 - 1, 2, 3, 3, 3* (Williams), 4, 4* (Sweat), 5, 5, 5* (Becton), 7  ( * indicates projected compensatory pick)

So, I absolutely can see packing a 2026 3rd round pick in order to move up in the 2025 draft... or one of the 5ths, even 2 of the 5ths, and then try to get back into Day 3 again in 2025 using the 2026 picks to do it.

There aren't really the 'blue chip' types in this draft, but there are going to be solid players that will fill needs in this draft for quite a while.  But even so, there will be some players that just fit better than others.

Yep, my hope is there are 2-3 guys they know they want and they can use their excess picks to move up and get who they want.

What is it about WR that make them so crazy? I can't think of any other position that has that many divas and headcases.

What is it about crazy people that are such good WRs? 😜

It's really weird. Smitty said something in a podcast about them being the only position that needs absolutely every other player to do their job to be successful. You'd think that'd make them more humble, but it can also be frustrating when you do your job and the rest of the team doesn't, which means you're not getting the ball even if you're running perfect routes.

Who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Im always willing to chip in a little to the gofundme when needed. Until we eventually get to that point where the board is fully self sustaining. I do see we have slowly grown in membership, with a larger jump since the super bowl.

Without the blog, many of the users here would have no interest in the EMB at all. Im not as willing to change the way myself and many others use interact in this community.

Its more worth paying for when we use it the way we intend to use it.

the people in the blog were never posting in game day threads. Youll add nothing to gameday threads by locking the blog. We just wont be posting during the game.

That will result in a few hundred less posts on the EMB on sundays.

During Eagles games I typically prefer only to post during halftime; there are just way too many infuriating hot takes in the moment to make for relaxing reading.

I come back on a few minutes after the game is over and read back 4-5 pages to get a sense on the general tone of discussion before summarizing my thoughts in a post.

We are in agreement.  I support that approach as well.

With that said, a look at the current roster/depth chart shows plenty of opportunity to upgrade positions

QB3 could be upgraded, or at least have some competition for DT-R

RB3 could be upgraded

WR4 and 5 can both be upgraded.

A TE1 is needed … might be Goedert

Developmental OT can be drafted

Backup OC is needed

The battle for Edge4 and 5 needs competition

DT depth is needed

ILB needs one more depth/insurance player

CB2 needs competition

Safety needs competition

Howie isn’t going to address all of those in the Draft, but they are all opportunities for improvement.

To me the game day threads are the Tower of Babel.  My 101 year-old mother has a business card that bears the motto "Straight, No Filter”. That is a good description of the game day threads IMO.  I don’t have the patience for all the yammering.  The Blog provides me with a safe and enjoyable place to share thoughts on the unfolding game.

That's ok, they're not for everyone. But if we get 100 guests that want to read about Super Bowl LII or LIX or LX, we want them to be able to do so because hat brings revenue to the board.

I'll have to add everything up and see where we are with regard to revenue, but as much as people are willing to pitch in, which is greatly appreciated, I really want everyone to be able to be here without having to dip into their pockets.

If anyone really wants to contribute, like I said, it's greatly appreciated. That helps pay for upgrades and enhancements and such. If everyone would use the Amazon link for every Amazon purchase, I know we'd more than meet our needs. I wish I could use it for my purchases, but that's not allowed, which sucks. But it is what it is.

Perfect way to put it. I read it when it first came out and learned nothing. Will be a great book in 20 years.
