I thought the Seahawks team that killed Denver was the all around best team.

We have a better offense and defense.  Their special teams return game was better with Harvin, but our special teams also forced some big turnovers in the playoffs.

This felt like a lock.

As expected, it's still amazing to me how our local beat writers never have any inside knowledge.  I guess that's Howie's doing but still it's on them to make it happen

Hopefully he can stop bleeding long enough to work on getting an OC not named Patullo

Some rumors that Trae might bat lead off, then Harper, then Bohm, then Schwarber.

Makes sense. If you look at turner’s career splits he’s better as a hitter and getting on base in leadoff spot. Feels like he’s not trying to hit as many homers out of that spot. Plus schwarber has had a ton of solo homers. Turner, Harper and Bohm tend to have good OBP so he has more opportunities to hit multi-runner homers as opposed to solo. Matt gelb made the argument with how good Harper and schwarber were against LHP last year going Turner, Harper and schwarber with Castellanos or Bohm cleanup. Issue to me is neither casty or Bohm are cleanup hitters.

It's not going to matter where they hit, but this will be the spin the entire spring training that it will make some huge difference. It won't. They need different players and they refused that. My interest level in the team is zero. They'll need to earn it back.

I hope he goes to the Giants so I can call him Dart Fart

I think you'll be able to call him that no matter where he goes numnuts!

The Philadelphia eagles had a 58.3 winning percentage in the 14 years AR was head coach.

In the 13 years since, they have a 59.9 winning percentage

Starts at the top, but I will always give AR credit for beginning the turnaround of this franchise.

Banner and Reid together. Howie melded their strong points from an org building perspective, but he wouldn’t have gotten there without both.

Just wish Banner wasn’t such an egomaniac, but that was always a weak point of his.

Wrong.  This Eagles team was the best all around team.

Week 2 loss to Atlanta — The Barkley drop.  Sirianni passing on an early chip shot FG attempt (4th and 4 at the 9), going on 4th down and failing in a scoreless game, then KICKS the FG 4th and 3 at the 11, when a first down wins the game.   Just a very inconsistent message being sent to the team.

Week 3 win over New Orleans — The long Barkley TD and long Goedert catch.  Sirianni passing on an early chip shot FG attempt AGAIN, going on 4th down and failing in a game we were losing 3-0 just before the half.  Back to being inconsistent in the message being sent.  Then turned down ANOTHER FG on 4th and 3 at the 34. (Still losing 3-0 at the time.)

I have nearly all the same pieces... with the noted exceptions.

This team didn't start to feel inevitable until after the Bengals game.  That's when the snowball started to get some momentum built up, IMO.  And the defense really started to look like they could be special.

They definitely do. It’s bad cap management.

Not just bad cap management but its very unpopular with the players.

Chip Kelly.

Wow.

The Bengals owner is notoriously cheap. It’s why I wouldn’t be surprised within the next five years we hear about Joe Burrow asking to be traded.

Does that mean Cooper is a top-ten QB?

I was actually comparing them during the game. Think there are similarities between the Eagles and that Seahawks team and the Bucs team that beat KC.

Hard to think they beat that Bucs defense with how much Bowles has tormented Hurts. The Legion of Boom defense would’ve been brutal for our O too imo. But we might blank their O, so I don’t know.

Think the Eagles are better player for player than both. Both matchups would be insanely physical.

Week 10 win over Dallas — I have very little recollection of this game. Just an easy win against an inferior team. My main memory of the game was being happy to rest some guys with Washington coming to Philly on a Thursday night.

The Jerrah and the Curtains game.

Harper needs protection in the lineup.

Howie wouldn't have gotten there without being sent to the broom closet.   He really used that time to come out a different GM.  He still hit a rough patch after 2017, but quickly righted the ship again.

Tbh they really need a cleanup hitter. They don’t have it. Frankly Schwarber you’d preferred to be third as he sees more at bats then 4th. But Castellanos I don’t think is consistent enough to be your cleanup. And Alec Bohm is definitely not a cleanup. You have protection if you have Schwarber behind Harper because Schwarber hit left-handed pitching really well last year. he gets on base and he can make you pay for walking Harper with a bomb. The biggest issue they’ve had has been their cleanup spot. Bohm and casty arent cleanup hitters. Ken rosenthal keeps mentioning Phillies and Kyle Tucker in the 2026 offseason. Kind of feels like he has information that they were trying to get Tucker in a trade, but they didn’t have the prospects to get it done. So they’re gonna go heavy on him in free agency in 2026. Which really doesn’t help them this year
