Snorted some glue this morning and I'm 90% convinced we are trading down out of 32 for future picks.  I get the "there are a lot of teams looking to trade down in the first so there is value in moving up this year" mentality, but I can't shake the feeling Howie is going to trade 32 for a future 1st and a 2024 3rd, and then use 2025 picks to move back up in the 2nd.

Much of the success we had was built on having multiple firsts for a few years, and I can see him trying to recreate that.

Must have been some strong glue bro!

The PFF guys had a lot of reservations about Shemar Stewart. I can't say I disagree. They even pushed back a little on the great athlete stuff. Said he is in some areas, but his testing on some of the lateral movement stuff wasn't good. He's not the overall athletic freak some think. And doesn't have the production to match. And had so many instances where he did not finish tackles and just slid off guys.

I agree and I hope Howie doesn't fall for it, he has bust written all over him.

This NIL drama with that kid Nico with UTenn is absolutely ridiculous.  Something needs to be fixed with NIL, this is becoming straight up extortion and pay for play now.  The NCAA is forever ruined IMO…can’t believe they let this happen with so little protection.  I fear there will be a severe trickle down effect most directly impacting the NFL with these kids and their readiness for the next level upon entering the draft.  A lot of schools and coaches are already adopting the Urban Meyer, system and talent vs development way of things.  It’s only going to get worse backed by the pockets of boosters.

Maybe I'm naive but I just can't see how Mike Green doesn't fall out of the first round. He has two sexual assault allegations against him. He wasn't charged, but he could be at any time if law enforcement feels they have a case. What team would want that hanging over their heads? Two years into his career the DA announces they're filing charges. And him becoming more of a big name sometimes kick starts these things.

Now you can say it's not enough to pass on a talent like that, but this is the same league where Lael Collins fell out of the draft entirely as a guy who was a first round pick because he was merely spoken to by police about a murder, not as a suspect, but as a witness. Police said straight away he is not a suspect in this case. The league is super anal about this stuff.

One DT that doesn't get a lot of love is Tyliek Williams. He plays nasty and is very powerful, has enough burst and size. Arms are short which is unfortunate but he looks good enough to me on the field. The power and nasty between himself and Carter on the field simultanously would be something very fun to watch I imagine.

He's going to go in the 1st because half the teams in the league don't care about sexual assault/women.

I’m not sure I remember Isaac ever being ‘awful’…granted I can’t remember what i had for breakfast most days, but wasn’t he just hurt a lot, not bad?

Yes, he had injuries but before that, Stoutland rebuilt him. Take a look at his stance in 2017. Note the left foot back, well behind the right. It's a standard stance but Isaac couldn't turn to his right quickly enough.

Here he is two years later, in 2019. Note how much more square to the LOS he is. Stoutland basically changed him from an OG stance to a C stance but left him at guard.

So if Stout can fix Seumalo, do we believe he can’t fix Steen?  (Or Keegan and Kinnard for that matter?)

He's got to speed all three of those guys up.

That's better.   Ball never got out of the infield.

Steen was the frontrunner to start until his preseason injury last season. So I expect a strong camp / preseason from him again this time around. A solid performance from him through the mid-season point could turn into a nice extension for him. I also believe though, that Pryor might provide a strong battle for the starting RG spot. I know a lot of people aren't expecting much from Pryor, but he was solid before for us when playing with the normal starters. It was the OL mess in 2020 where he looked terrible --- but so did almost everybody else. Pryor is coming off a solid season playing mostly the position we are looking to fill. He knows the coaches and some of the players. I believe he may surprise.

You're not getting a future 1st for 32. Put the glue back in the garage and make yourself a pot of coffee to freshen up. There's no one in this draft that would warrant such a bounty and I can't recall any team getting such compensation for where we pick. Look when we had traded back from pick 32 last time with Baltimore, we got a 2nd rounder for the following year and a 4th within the same year. That's about the best you can expect just for that pick especially in an overall weaker draft class.

Here is the history of past trades from either 31 or 32. Looking at that 2028 trade for the next 2nd to become a next 1st, 125 would go away and 52 would move back … possibly to something like 125.

He's big and strong and he has developed patience over the years but he is slow. Very slow. Stoutland likes guys who can move. Pryor gives us some depth but I hate to think of him as a full-time starter.

ONL was essentially a DPR at UT, so kind of an unknown in regard to his ability against the run (although he’s smallish and likely won’t get much bigger at 23). As an Milton replacement, I definitely see that.

I’ll mimic your thought process but with Harmon, who’s over 310lbs, 34” arms and sheds blocks well. He seems like a balanced prospect that’s competent run and pass.

Harmon is a pick at or near 32. ON-L is a pick at or near 64.  With that said, the profile of ON-L in this YouTube beginning at 34:00 is worth watching.

I was able to convert the PDF of The Beast 2025 to having no PW protection. Don't worry, when you google The Beast, the site allows you to download the PDF and the site gives you the password on the website so anyone can access it. It's just removing an annoyance of having to enter the PW every time you want to access it. This is not me paying for a subscription, stealing it, and then passing it along for free. It's just me removing one annoying step to access the document, which they've allowed anyone to do.

If anyone wants a copy let me know.

Send me a PM with one.  Thanks

At the very least, I'm hoping he adds legit competition to push Steen. At this time, I just don't want to rule out him winning the starting gig. But if Steen does win the job, we know he beat out an experienced player coming off a pretty solid season. Pryor is dirt cheap, so if he ends up just providing depth, that is still a pretty good outcome. We had a little more at risk with Becton last year with what we signed him to.

Any team that believes strongly that they can make the playoffs next year and is in love with a player available at #32 would be willing to trade a 2026 1st for that pick. But we would be unlikely to get much of anything in this draft to go along with it. If it was a 2027 1st, we could probably get something else with it --- maybe even a day 2 pick this year. It wouldn't be all that shocking. We gave up a future 3rd round pick to draft Ringo in the 4th.

It's unlikely you're going to get a future 1st from a bad or rebuilding team, but from contenders, it's a different story.

I can't decide which character in Draft Day is the worst. The strength coach, the intern, or the skinny assistant coach.

Yeah, sorry but no. This isn't even a strong draft either. In a strong draft it has never happened before and it's not going to start this year. Trading a future 3rd for a 4th is no where near the ball park of trading a future 1st for the 32nd.

There's a reason teams are looking to trade back this year. I don't even think there will be very many teams willing to sacrifice next years 2nd never mind a 1st. Grab a 3rd this year or something like the previous trade we made at 32, next years 2nd and a 4th this year. Maybe we throw in one of our many 5th's this year to sweeten it up. But that's about the ceiling. A next years 1st trade only happens if the GM dealing with Howie got into Paco's garage and found his glue stash.
