Be prepared to trade up if you covet Starks. I do and would give up picks to nab him.

I agree, but the ESPN simulator has him ranked at 39 for some strange reason.

I don't get the Mike Green hype at all. Short, average athleticism, just barely adequate length.

Similarly don't get the lack of James Pearce Jr hype. Elite burst, surprisingly good speed to power, better length.

Green is violent and explosive and has good power. Pearce is explosive, but built like a WR and might not be an edge setter or a guy who could hold up in the run game. Those are the concerns with Pearce. I still love his potential though and would love him at 32.

I both love Malaki Starks and would be pissed if the Eagles drafted him.

Because they wouldn't need him if they still had CJGJ. They have other major needs at more premium positions. To give away a safety and then use your best pick on a safety is Fing annoying, I'm sorry. And again, I love Starks. They needs and more important positions right now.

I feel as if the Safeties and LBs vary the most from simulator to simulator. Probably has to do with position value making it more difficult to compare them directly to say a CB or DT. I've seen one drop Jihaad Campbell into the 30s too.

Which starters are missing except for safety? Maybe RG if its not Steen, but thats it. And Im more comfortable with the options at RG already on the roster.

7.5 out of 9.5 Howies. I think trade up may be a possibility. Trading up for an edge that is kind of meh feels very Howie like. I am not sure Gunnar Helm has the athleticism they like at TE but they may like him as a blocker. Fleecing the Titans was a nice touch.

I don't view it as starters. But I think Edge and DT are bigger needs right now, not because they have less talent there, but because the Eagles can find a competent enough safety post draft, and the DL is just a more important area of the team, and they're one injury away on the DL or one of Ojomo, Nolan, Hunt, Davis, Ojulari being a disappointment from being code red on the DL. And this is a strong DL draft, I just think the first pick has to be there or they're asking for trouble. And they rotate guys on the DL enough to where they'll get plenty of playing time.

They traded CJGJ because of his potential cost. Starks at 32 is a cost control measure. I think it's unlikely he is the pick but it is a position of need in a defense that values the position. My guess is that they would trade back before they selected him at that pick.

I agree, we are all focused on DL for a reason. But we do still have starters, and some depth players there.

Safety is without a starter. It can certainly be argued thats our biggest need.

I think it's the biggest hole on the roster given what they're lacking with CJGJ gone. But factoring in position value, a bunch of safeties still on the FA market who are serviceable, etc... it's not the position I'd want in round 1. And I love Malaki Starks. But it's also like damn if you just kept CJGJ they could've just sat pretty and took the best DL on the board. Their move to move CJGJ directly affected their ability to address the DL. And I don't like that.

I certainly wouldn't trade up for Malaki Starks. If he's there at 32 and the best DL are gone, and they couldn't trade up for whatever reason, I couldn't be too mad. But moving up or passing on Nolen, Mykel Williams, Ezeiruaka, etc for him... ehhh. I could never say I'd hate it because I love the player, but it just wouldn't sit right.

I wonder if Howie would do it though. Never taken a safety in the first round.

I get it to an extent when you say, if you'd just kept CJ.

On the other hand, I view Starks as a likely upgrade over CJ.

So still a good move upgrading probably the weakest starter on the defense.

I agree on the trade back and in the simulator I traded back three times before taking him. Jaxon Dart was on the Board so I traded from 32 to 33. Then Dart was still there at 33, so I traded to 34, and then one more time to 37 where the Raiders actually did take Dart.

I liked Cine predraft more than I like Starks predraft. I am curious on whether he has recovered or if the injury has permanently slowed him down.

I think a lot of you guys are going to be disappointed when Ringo and Brown are the two new starters in our secondary…

And I think a lot of people are going to look back at the end of the year praising Howie for that move.

Can you believe it? Tush push was used by a Fed Governor describing the inflation and interest rate! Our team introduced a play that is hard to defend and getting famous for it. They better not out-law the play now.

Cine is the primary reason that Starks getting picked in the early 20s of the 1st Round won’t bother me much. I realize Cine is a roll of the dice, but I’m willing to take that Rik.

How so? We traded an undisciplined S and replaced him with a S that at times can be undisciplined. And we potentially have a S in Cine who could end up being better. I have watched Ringo and don’t see a huge downturn with him as CB2 from Slay. No Ricks in place of Rodgers and Maddox is a bit of a concern.

That said, the best value around 32 may be CB. Given the loss of Slay, Rodgers and Maddox, CB depth is a need and if Ringo isn’t the answer at CB2, CB may be the best pick.

Pleasantly disappointed. Even if it isn’t Brown it may be Cine.

For me developmental CB depth is what we are likely to take in the Draft. Cobee Bryant or Zach Fraser. Immediate impact potential on Special Teams and ideally long term CB depth.
