A lot of rumors going around that Giants are showing interest in trading for Goedert... Any ideas on what that might look like?

Is it a Thibodeaux swap or we looking at moving up in certain rounds? Like Goedert and 134 for 99

Trade the Saint's 32 for 71 and their 2026 first then trade 64 and Goedert for 34

The Rules say retired for at least 5 seasons. He didn't officially retire until this year. I think he's not eligible until 2030.

So Berman posted a form for PHLY for "reporters” to be able to access Fran Duffy and his draft guide. I signed up and put my organization as the Eagles Message Board. If successful, I will try to figure out how to conference in the Blog.

I mean the EMB could register as a News Agency with NFL Media Relations: https://nflcommsusermanagement.nfl.net/Register.aspx

I don't believe a player has to officially announce a retirement to begin the countdown. With JP, though, it appears that PS time does not count as an accrued season in regard to HOF eligibility. It might be different if they had called him up for a game.

He also said wanting to move Goedert is purely a cash move. Which would piss me off. If it was "Well, Goedert wants a new deal and we don't want to give him one, so we hard to part ways. Plus he's making more than we think he's worth" it would piss me off, but that would take sting away from it. But I'm sorry [In a nerd voice] "We can't afford to sign Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, and Cam Jurgens unless we free up Goedert's cash" is Fing BS. And if it is the case, raise your budget. The dude is a damn good player.

It's not a "cash" move, it's a "cap" move. He costs $11.7M this year and has a dead cap number of $23M for 2026. They can't afford that with the other players coming up to free agency. And while he's a very good player, he's only a very good player for stretches. He misses about 1/4 of each season, and he's barely used for another portion of the season.

2021 - 2 games missed, 5 games under 40 yards receiving, 830 yards total
2022 - 5 games missed, 3 games under 40 yards receiving, just over 700 yards total
2023 - 3 games missed, 7 games under 40 yards receiving, under 600 yards total
2024 - 7 games missed, 5 games under 40 yards receiving, under 500 yards total

He's trending the wrong way... and he's super expensive coming up. He's not going to get better, and he's not going to get more durable as he passes age 30. He's a very good blocker as a TE. But TEs don't get big money because of their blocking. So, he's overpaid. Lastly, the 'budget' is a league thing, not an Eagles thing. In terms of 'cash spent', the Eagles are always right at the top, if not the very top. This is a case of the piper needing to get paid for how Howie structured his previous years in the deal. The big money is hitting now, and he's just not worth the cost to keep him. Goedert was 19th in TE receiving this past year, 14th the year before. And the company he's keeping on that list are making a fraction of his salary... Jonnu Smith, Tyler Conklin, etc.

If he cost less, he'd have a place here... but as with others before him, his price tag has exceeded his value to the team.

Can't believe Colorado is retiring the jersey numbers of Sanders and Hunter 🤣🤣 WTF.

I can understand Hunter a little because he won a heisman. But they were at Colorado for 2 years and went 13-12. That's jersey retirement worthy?

Deion influence.

If they ban the rush push, I’d love to hear Merrill say next year… "3rd and 1, ball on the Chiefs goal line. Eagles lined up in the dwarf toss.”

Minnesota CB Justin Walley and Navy safety Rayuan Lane III are schedule to visit with the #Eagles today, per sources. Walley is the last of the team’s top 30 visits before the NFL draft. Lane counts as a local visit.

He has less yards than Reggie Wayne and is 27th in career receptions. He also had a pretty steep drop off in production in his last 3 seasons.

He lead the NFL in receiving yards during the 2010s. That's hard to argue against. He ended up 16th all-time.

Maybe you are convincing me. He always had a huge reputation... but didn't get into the end zone that often. Maybe he's not a shoo-in.

He was great for about 6 seasons

He probably would have had a better case if he had retired after the 2020 season. Then his production looks more like Calvin Johnson without the total TDs. He's 61st in total TDs which doesn't help.

Gale Sayers was really only in the league for 5 seasons, the last 2 don't really count. Terrell Davis was only in the NFL for 7. Both made the HoF.

Meanwhile, Sterling Sharpe was only in the league for 7 years, and dominant when he played, yet he's not in the HoF. 🤷‍♂️. RB bias? Anti-WR bias?

Ultimately, I think Sharpe deserves to be in the HoF much more than Julio Jones. He was, IMO, the best WR in the entire NFL his last 3 seasons. And that's saying something with the likes of Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Andre Reed, Cris Carter all in the league at the same time. From 1992 - 1994, I don't think there was a better WR. But, I think he gets downgraded, because after he retired, the Packers had Robert Brooks and then Antonio Freeman put up big numbers too. So, I think they look at him as a product of the system more than the exceptional talent he was. Just my opinion.

There is a salary cap. In the long run cash and cap converge. In the short run eagles have spent more cash than other teams because they pre-paid and borrowed future years cap money. There is a practical limit to constantly doing that that isn’t about being ‘cheap’ which Lurie clearly is not

Yes and what I'm saying is I'm simply not buying that keeping Dallas Goedert on the roster, merely one player, will prevent them from re-signing Carter, Nolan, Jurgens, Mitchell, DeJean, etc to extensions. Because all the local reporters seem to be saying that to do that Goedert needs to go and I simply do not buy that. It doesn't pass the smell test.
