Thinking about the trading for a vet comment. What position would they target, for instance with pick 32? Thinking of an AJ Brown type of player, and for cap reasons in general, why would they trade a high pick for a player (not saying 1st) with the knowledge that they need to extend a bunch of players in the future?

A CB is a possibility. I suppose.

Been saying...

He was a possible 2nd or 3rd rounder in an excellent awR draft class last year.

The knock was supposed to be athleticism.

This year its a weaker WR group, he tested really well, and not many people seem to care about him now.

He's really good.

I bet hes drafted higher than these draft sites have him.

Yup, after having nearly 100 catches in 2023 I was very surprised he didn’t come out - there’s probably a IWTETG thread from last year - bummer he got hurt.

CB is a sneaky round 1 pick not many people have seemed to talk about. Easier to project than a safety. Revel should be in play

Thinking about it, taking a CB with pick 32 makes complete sense. 5 year contract, easier to project and helps lock down a position with no vet in the way for the long term. It would allow a can kick for other positions to go down the road one more year

Al Chelsey.

Big if true!

Schefter says keep an eye on the Eagles this weekend with trades because of all their picks in the next two drafts. He said they could trade for a veteran player and that's more likely than trading up.

This I don't quite grasp and have to call nonsense on that one. Unless it's TJ Watt or something. Even then not sure how they can fit it in cap wise.

It doesn't make sense to me either. I think trading up is definitely a possibility especially if they really like Nolen or Harmon over other choices at the position. I can't imagine what veteran would make sense in a trade. I guess TJ Watt would be a possibility but definitely cost prohibitive. He's also on the wrong side of 30 and reportedly wants $40 million a year. Trey Hendrickson is in the same category. These players would be good additions but I don't think it extends their window as a contender. It probably hurts it because it will make keeping other players and replacing players too difficult.

Are the Jags still selling off their good players (Trayvon Walker)?

Schefter apparently said Odafe Oweh may be available. That could be a name to watch for Howie if it's true. 10 sacks last year only 26 years old.

They exercised his 5th year option. Maybe they would consider trading him but he's going to be expensive to keep.

6-5, 255 with 34.5" arms. He had a stellar pro-day, yeah I'd take him.

It'd be like 2yrs/$21M contract to us which is friendly, but I figure a team that is willing to sign him long-term would pony up more in a trade than we could for a rental.

49ers great offseason continues.

No I’m not. The original post was in reference to a GM referring to Mason Taylor as such, and me wondering if he was saying that as an Eagles point of interest. The original post wasn’t meant to convey it made me want to draft him more as a result.

The GM set "Zach Ertz 1.0” as the standard. for comparing Mason Taylor too. Once that standard was said, it works for comparing all the potential tight and draftees. I suspect that you do not like Zach Ertz 1.0 as the standard. In fact, if Zach Ertz were available rather than gunner Helm you probably wouldn’t take Zach Ertz is that correct?

Nice synopsis.

Solid, but some of his round projections were off even for this draft. Gunnar Helm in the 6th round for example is absurd.

Zach Ertz 1.0 is an archetype of a receiving TE that isn't much of a blocker or RAC threat, that Mason Taylor might potentially become. Perhaps we want Gunnar Helm because he might become an competent receiving threat but good blocker... what's that Mark Bavaro 1.0?

I assume Jimmy K saw the 40 time, but missed the context of the ankle injury (although you can watch the highlights and see that GH appears a bit faster than timed).
