Garrett is most likely leaving his "elite"stage of his career, but will still be getting paid elite compensation. Remember Andy Reid and Joe Banner basically had a rule of not paying peeps on the wrong side of 30. This is the good way to operate. Howie knows this. Eagles do not need to take such a risk when they are acing it currently in the draft.

I respect you dying on this hill. I think Garrett is the exception

How about Reddick? Age 30. Looks done. His 29 season was slipping some too. You are not getting an elite Garrett at age 32 season. That's far-fetched.

Garrett would be an upgrade over Sweat if the team loses Sweat. I don't think the cost will be as high people expect.  The question is what kind of deal will he take.

I am not that big on Sweat, although he had a great Superbowl. Hunt and high draft pick should fill the bill well and cover that loss. And hopefully Huff can give you something as well.

A defensive line with Carter and Garrett would be so lethal.  Would love Parsons as well but that would be too expensive both draft compensation and contract.

To get Garrett you’re giving up $30+ million per year and likely a first plus other day two pick.

So it becomes 4 starters for 1. I’d rather have the depth and cheap rookie deals.

Is he big enough for the edge?  They say he is very explosive.

He's bigger than Nolan Smith. About an inch and ten pounds lighter than Hunt.

I think to get the most out of him you would use him a bit as a chess piece; his versatility is what makes him great. I like him more as an off ball LB than a pure edge rusher, but he can certainly rush from the edge.

How many defensive starters are we realistically losing, and will that leave us in a better or worse spot next season? I’d love to bring everyone back, but I know that’s unlikely. I’m just wondering how much of a drop-off we might see—though maybe it’s too early to tell.

Seems like this might be more of a "thank you” than anything. He was going to be a free agent next month anyway.

Might want to pin this. Pretty good indicator of the direction the Eagles go in the draft.

Which means 56.3% (9/17) of Philadelphia’s draft picks in each of the last two seasons had top 30 visits with the team. 100% (!) of Philadelphia’s first three draft picks in each of the last two seasons had top 30 visits with the team.

Not yet he can't.   The ring won't be distributed for months.

That thread is their 'lead up' thread, with some stuff from days after the game.

Their GDT is here: https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=357069&page=57

I skipped the pre-game stuff with that link, that's about at the beginning of the game (page 57).

Be sure to read their GDT too, linked above.

Interesting thought... What if we were to make a trade with the Giants for Evan Neal and put him at RG?  He might be on the trade block and is equally as massive as Becton  who also struggled at Tackle in NY (I know different teams).  Don't think he makes much.  Then you could go Williams and Baun in FA

Neal is a ponderous oaf. Period.

Lazyie, Krayzie, Wish or Bizzy?

Garrett is a bridge too far, sticking with a war motif. Great player, no doubt, BUT: you get him, you lose all our other FAs to be. No Baum, Williams, Becton, and that’s just in 2025. More FAs get  squeezed out next year, and the year after. Jurgens? After that? Garrett is done and you’ve paid a heavy opportunity cost in young guys not signed because you gave up high picks as well as all that salary. Let Dallas get him.

Nick Underhill, Saints beat writer: Sounds like Doug Nussmeier is the favorite to be the Saints offensive coordinator, I'm told. Not done yet, but things are moving in that direction.

Not surprising. Most of us had this picked day he got hired. I remember talking to my uber driver in New Orleans day Kellen got hired that he was going to be their OC, and his kid could be their  QB next year

Life comes at you fast. One day you are shirtless at a parade eating pizza and the next day you’re unemployed.
