Wasn't that Sydney Brown and McCollum? But otherwise, I agree that Ringo is overhyped by fans. Great measurables but stiff hips and possibly a bit of a space cadet could explain why he's never getting meaningful snaps.

Apparently so.  I had mostly checked out by then... and likely, so did those guys on the field.

Yup.  9 snaps in that one.

Slay had a really good year but age catches up to everyone and each year is more risky. He’s not a guy to come back on a cheap deal either. With cap money being so precious I think you have to move on in most scenarios

I was looking at his contract... He'd have to give back money to come back cheaper.   There's virtually no wiggle room left.

The base salary shown is likely the league minimum for someone with his experience.  And the prorations aren't able to be changed.  So, I just don't see a way to bring him back cheaper... unless they cut him and resign him, which only frees up $6M spread over the next two years in terms of savings.   I guess they could bring him back for something like that, or even $3M... and he'd technically be getting 'more' money, while 'saving' the Eagles some cap space.  How much could he get from another team if he's cut?

The eagles pass rush didn’t have 70 sacks they had in 2022 but the eagles pass rush had really starting going to another level down the stretch of the season. Carter, Milton and smith were playing their best football as the season went on. Frankly with how smith was playing down the stretch he was giving you more against the run and nearly as good or as good of a pass rush as Reddick did that year.

The other thing the Chiefs fan didn’t account for was that their offensive line is significantly worse than it was two years ago. They had a left guard in Caliendo who shouldn’t be starting. Taylor who shouldn’t be starting at right tackle. Thuney isn’t a LT and when they moved him out there their running game (that already wasn’t very good) got significantly worse. I thought Fran duffy nailed it with the stat that since the chiefs moved thuney to LT and caliendo to guard that their running game had 50% of their attempts go for 0 or negative yards. Essentially the eagles didn’t have to fear their rushing attack. Haven’t gone back to watch the all 22 but listening to cosell break down he said the eagles basically were daring the chiefs to run and they didn’t want too/didnt.

I like Ross.  He and Scott Graham do a nice job with the preseason games.    And, it might be a sacrilege to say... but the time is fast approaching that the Eagles might want to lock up Graham to take over PBP for their radio broadcast.  Merrill is 82 years old.  And he's just not what he was.

More importantly, the defense as a whole was way stronger than 2022.   The 2022 defense was feast or famine based on the front winning.  The back end was pretty weak... which was exploited in the Super Bowl.  That wasn't the case this past year, and a lot of the pressures came as a result of the sticky coverage.

The KC fans seemed to be judging their OL by their best players rather than their worst.  You can't really overcome more than one weak link on that unit, and when it comes down to it they might have been better served with an average line across the board rather than a couple all-pros surrounded by question marks (at best).

Schefter said there’s a good chance Becton re-signs with the Eagles.

Rodgers had issues playing the ball against the Rams.  A couple of times he was in good coverage, but the receiver took the ball away.  I believe the coaches pulled him for a series or two to let him clear his head.

The media also spent the two weeks leading up to the game talking about what a great job Joe Thuney was doing, being an All Pro guard moving out to OT.  Thuney was awful in the Super Bowl; he got walked back into Mahomes’ lap the entire first half.

Yep. In 2022 they only really had one week spot on their offensive line. It was Wylie. But what helped them in that game was that the field conditions were slick so helped neutralized the eagle pass rush and helped cover up that mismatch. In this game, the Eagles defense on turf was even better this year. So that wasn’t going to be a factor. I would add they had two significant weak spots in Taylor and caliendo. And really created a third weakness by moving thuney to less tackle where he wasn’t as good.  Imo by moving thuney out to LT benefited the Eagles because they could exploit three positions on the offensive line as thuney wasn’t nearly as great at LT as G. Frankly keeping thuney, creed and smith as their interior is one of the best in the league and much harder to exploit. By not doing this, it was much harder to stop the Eagles pass rush because they were going to exploit you inside and outside. At least if you kept those three together, you had a much better chance to keep the eagle interior pass in check.

don’t get me wrong, I think they would’ve had issues either way, but I think they created even more issues doing it the way that they did it

It didn't help that when they tried 7 man protections against 4 that Kelce and their RB were completely overmatched and beaten badly most plays as well.

The problem with Rodgers is unfixable. He’s a small guy. Very quick, good speed and hips but small. We play mostly zone and to play it well you need to tackle well. He’s willing but he’s….small.

Was it 21 not 22?  I'll be honest, I wasn't really paying close attention then.  You are probably right.

That said, I still haven't seen it from Ringo yet.  The opportunities haven't been there.  And if they are so high on him... they went out and brought in 3 different CBs who all immediately passed him on the depth chart.  So, I take the Ringo hype with a grain of salt.

I believe it was 21.

I notice it too. Merrill is a HOF and he is and always will be the Eagles voice but he’s definitely aging and all that goes with it.

Who knows what amount he will be willing to play for with one more chance at a ring.  I trust Howie.

Eagles avoid another international game

Mayock said it well.  There are more RBs available that are draftable than spots available.  Derek Henry and Saquon Barkley are unique talents.  None of these hold a candle to them.  If Gainwell is #6, wait for the draft.

Every time we play a game in Brazil we end up winning the Super Bowl.  Lets go back

Haven't heard much in here about going after Malcolm Koonce in FA.  He seemed like an ascending player before the injury (think he had 7 or 8 sacks) and should be more in our price range.  I still think Chase Young would be a really good fit here as bigger DE

Our worst defensive performance of the playoffs occurred because Quinyon went out and Rodgers couldn't adequately replaced him. He tried hard, but he repeatedly lost at the catch point.

Assuming Slay leaves, CB2 is the biggest need on the team in the short-term IF we don't like Ringo. This is not a great CB class though

After what happened after 2022, I hope the process is better than "Well, he's here... and a lot of coaches are scooped up, so what the hell, let's do it"
