Thinks Henderson from OSU goes early. Maybe to Browns with the first pick tonight.

Browns love Mason Taylor, keep an eye out for him with their other pick.

Emmanwori won't last long.

Thinks Milroe could very well go before Sanders, wouldn't be surprised if Sanders lasts until the 3rd round. Thinks Saints have Shough ranked ahead of Sanders on their board, watch out for Shough to the Saints tonight.

Sanders will slide to the 3rd

Mason Taylor feels so much like Zach Ertz to me. High end polished route runner, but not going to do much after the catch or do much deep. Not going to do much as a blocker either.

Ertz rewrote our TE record books, so there's no shame in that...but that's also the upside, not necessarily what he's going to be. I also don't see that as a fit in our offense anymore.

But here we sit on the precipice of year 4... the chances that he'll actually ever reach that potential diminish by the day.

This. And his snaps decreased from little to barely there

The Rams can’t have had more than 2 or 3 1st round picks over the past 10 years…weird weird organization.

I’d add the Panthers to the losers bracket…from everything I’ve seen they took a WR top 10 who doesn’t like football.

They are living out the Bobby Beathard method. He did it in reverse though... he always used next year's 1st round pick to grab a 2nd round player that fell out of Round 1... leaving him without a 1st the next year, forcing him to trade up for a 2nd that year using the first from the next year, etc. etc.

Yeah... I forgot about the Panthers. Best place for a guy who doesn't like football. Carolina doesn't really care about the NFL either.

I'm going to be nervous if Sanders is on the board for our pick in round 2 or 3...

I could see them liking Milroe as a faster version of DTR.

I am not worried at all about this team liking Sanders. Not possible.

His speech to his draft party attendees last night confirmed that the entire league was right to pass on him.

I too believe he is dropping to round 3. Milroe and Shough ahead of him. Then, you have to wonder if McCord goes before him too.

Howie had a great PC last night. Granted, it's sort of easy to have a great PC when it's a double victory lap, post SB win and after landing a universally popular draft pick. But a little more insight than normal.

  1. Edge is absolutely part of the discussion for Campbell...may not be where he settles in, but they are interested in tinkering there.

  2. I did not know that NFL teams share medical evals and grades with each other. Kind of makes sense.

  3. Howie acknowledged they were trying to trade up for him earlier.

Regarding 1. Think back on how Fangio rolled things out in the Super Bowl … 100% light boxes and zero blitzes (with a blitz being defined as rushing more than four). That didn’t mean that Baun didn’t rush Mahomes, but when he did one of the front four dropped back into a pass coverage zone. In those plays Baun was functioning as an Edge, but doing so as an ILB.

My expectation is that Fangio will use Baun and Campbell that same way interchangeably. That flexibility and the ability to disguise where the pressure is going to come from should be very challenging for opposing Offensive Coordinators and QBs.

Before Fangio I was a major hater of Zone Defenses, but his deployment of Zone is masterful.

Was speaking to a friend, I HAVE ZERO IDEA IF THIS IS TRUE but would make sense.....there were supposedly serious allegations against CJGJ. Big Dom cleared it up (fixed it) and the Eagles played the "Bad Guy" for trading him but in reality were the good guys for not saying anything. Again...no report, no proof but would explain a whole hell of a lot.

I liked 22 for Ringo. I don't like 7 for him.

Agree. I liked him in 22. Wearing "regular numbers" isn't always a bad thing. I don't like Dotson wearing 2 for one season either. I'd rather see a player who's going to be here for a while get 2.

Day two thoughts / Targets:

Edge - Donovan Ezeiruaku, Nic Scourton, Femi Oladejo, JT Tuimaoau, Mike Green (Is he even on their board??)

DT - TJ Sanders, Shemar Turner, Omarr Norman-Lott

CB - Will Johnson, Trey Amos, Sharon Revel Jr., Azareye'h Thomas, Benjamin Morrison

OL - Jonah Savaiinaea, Wyatt Milum, Marcus Mbow, Tate Ratlidge, Anthony Belton, Charles Grant, Aireonte Ersery, Cameron Williams

TE - Mason Taylor, Elijah Arroyo, Harold Fannin Jr., Terrance Ferguson

So things can change really quick by the time we get to 64 but right now the value is really there at Edge, Corner, and the OL. DT is a bit thin already in terms of day two and might be more of a day three options unless one of those three guys makes it to 64. I won't even try to predict who they pick after they went LB last night as they are obviously in the mode of just sitting back and taking the best guy on their board but I would be really surprised if they don't come away with someone for the OL tonight.

I didn't list any safeties because I think they have a handshake deal in place with Justin Simmons for next week which won't effect comp picks and I think they like Brown enough to see how he does this year being fully healthy. I also don't think there are any safeties which would be great value/fit unless Mukuba somehow falls to 96.

Also, I am probably wrong based on what he typically does but I actually think other than a minor move up/move down (3-5 spots) I expect Howie to stick around 64 and 96.

We need to hope there's a run on QB, WR and RB early to push these guys down. IMO, there could be as many as 6 QBs who could sneak in to round 2.

I think we're going to see a run on TE, so if they want one, they are going to need to move up. Arroyo, Taylor, Fannin, Helm and Ferguson are going to fly off the board once one is picked.

Will Johnson being available is kind of stunning. Reports on his knee are a concern, but he's a stud. I would trade 64, 96 and Ringo to get 33 and snag him and maybe get a 4th in return.

Well....a lot is going to be said about Campbell and his future path. It looks like his strength is in his flexibility. Fangio found some magic and success utilizing Andrew Van Ginkel's unique hybrid skill set. I think Vic saw some of that talent in Baun and had hoped to recreate that. Baun turned into a different kind of superb player, but I believe Fangio has found his new Van Ginkel. He will play close to the line of scrimmage and make plays from a variety of personnel packages. We will see how much Campbell can adjust and will be challenged by the cerebral expectations for playing such a role. Will they go slow with him and teach one role at a time or will they just throw everything at him? We will see...

Sorry, last one

It amazes me how the Ravens almost always stay put and players who are perfect for them just fall in to their laps.

Yup

They been doing it far longer than Howie

That is because Kiper was talking about Sanders being taken at pick 1. When Ward went, as everyone knew he would Kiper had Sanders as his best available player all night long. He was in shock. I thought it was really funny.

He just be very embarrassed.

Kiper has been so wrong for over a decade. Hell, they hired that idiot McShay to make Kiper look a little less stupid. I watched the NFL Network with liberal use of the mute button. Read a lot and glanced up. They’ll get even more behind today than last night and then the crap show of Sanders, Ward, Dart and Slough circle jerk and film instead of actually looking at the Day 3 picks on Saturday. Kurt Warner and Rapaport at the kiddie table was hilarious.

I think if they do it, it will be for a DT like Turner or Sanders. I'm not sure they jump up for Green or Ezeiruaku since they view Campbell as a hybrid that can rush the passer. I think Simmons is the plan at safety after the draft to push Brown (this year's Devin White). Maybe they jump up for a TE, but the longer it lasts with Goedert, the higher the chances he is back on a reworked deal.

I could see that for a DT. I hope they keep DG at this point for one more year. It would be one less hole to try to fill with DT, DE, S, CB, and OL being more important. Find a way to make it work and keep the offense intact. We agree Simmons is probably who they will bring in for safety.

Dude was 5-13 with a HR against the Phils in the '83 WS. I remember him hitting a HR but had to look up the hitting stats.

Yeah, they lost the series to the Pirates in '79. I was really into it then, because of the connection to my teacher. But I've never really been a big baseball fan... though I did play in High School. But that was really just to get out of class lol.

He came into our classroom to meet us at some point after that 1979 World Series. So I got to meet him. Not that I remember much from it, that was a few moons ago lol.

2nd round feels awfully rich for a 4th DT. Granted, it's 4th DT as a rookie with a pathway to starting at some point.

Or it could be the eventual starter. If they like a guy that much, he can replace Davis, and Ojomo and someone else can be the rotational guys. I'm on board if they love a DT in the 2nd. The rich get richer.

I also really want to see them draft a safety tonight. Until proven otherwise, I'm trusting Fangio and the fact that Howie has said he's listening to Fangio and learning from him.

Kiper has never really ever been right…he’s just the innovator of the draft day hype machine and hysteria. For better or worse, he’s the reason the draft is what it is today.

Of note in video Lurie says they were trying to get Campbell for last hour so that's consistent with he was who they wanted to trade up for all along

I really hope they come out of today with a stud Edge and/or DT. Wolf and Fran both think they trade up today.

Both DT and Edge. I want Oladejo at Edge and Sanders or Alexander at DT. Stewart as an Edge in Round 3 would be very nice as well.
