Roger Goodell "the draft takes too long"

Meanwhile

I have a lot less issue with the Make a Wish kids coming out compared to having an announcement about a future announcement. nonono. Sure, they looked better doing it, but it took too long and they said NOTHING. Everything they said could have been covered in a simple press release. FYI, the schedule will be available on such and such date.

And the craziest picks haven't happened yet for Day 2!!

I keep having to refresh.

Looks like an off the ball LB to me, with pass rush skills rather than a pass rusher with dropping skills.

Same…but he’s young and I trust Vic to put him in the best places to succeed

1 - It IS a football play. Spiking the ball straight into the ground to stop the clock isn't a football play. The new kickoff isn't a football play.

2 - It's not a rugby thing, ask the rugby player that's intimately acquainted with both the Tush Push and rugby. That's just ignorance. But if we are eliminating 'rugby' roots, no more 'touchdowns'. No more 'extra points'. No more laterals. No more 'snaps'.

3 - Cite the many many injuries that have happened on that play. Oh, there are none? Then shut your pie hole.

4 - Tell the losers with the sour grapes to learn how to run it as effectively as we do, or how to defend it. But either way, all teams have the option to do it, but none do it as well as we do. Sounds like its a skill based play.

Yup. He's just recycling talking points because its all they have. And by doing it, opening themselves to questions that are in point 1.

I've seen people post here today and last night a little trading Ringo if they get Will Anderson.

There is no Will Anderson in this Draft.

Y'all weren't kidding about Mel Kiper. What an a-hole, so disrespectful to the players being drafted.

I have no idea why anyone still watches ESPN Draft coverage.

Now I have to tell RTK he was right.

Sort of right.

If you get 502 error messages about the server, I've submitted a support ticket with GoDaddy, so hopefully they'll resolve it soon.

I will counter with this, Eagles play a lot of what looks like a 3-3-5 where the SAM plays mostly as a rush OLB. Primarily last year, that was Nolan. They list two DEs on EMB (their media kind of sucks on these listings as shown by the biggest of the OLBs and DEs is listed as a LB, Mathis), Huff and KJ Henry at 255. I have said over and over that Fangio prefers OLBs to edges because he prefers versatility. This isn’t a 4/3 team anymore and hasn’t been for a while. Their remaining "edges” or "DEs” were legacy and are gone. The traded Reddick, who refused to learn OLB traits and freelanced, lost Sweat, who could drop but wasn’t very good at it, and BG, who had versatility to the point he could play DE, small DT and even OLB, to retirement.

The Eagles are currently carrying 10 LBs/OLBs and 2 DEs and that doesn’t include Campbell.

He’s evolved the NCB to a quasi CB and SS type. Interesting that their backup FS was a DB first and now that includes Cooper, Cine and Castro-Fields at that designation. Now the EMB media folks decide that listing somewhat so take it with a grain of salt.

I wouldn’t call that a counter, but rather a clarification … one that is in line with my thinking. Your 3-3-5 with one of the middle three rushing from a two-point stance is another way of saying the opposing Offensive Coordinator and QB will never know whether it will be Baun rushing or Campbell rushing.

With that said, what player names do you attach to the 3-3 part of the 3-3-5?

I hardly watch ESPN at all anymore. I was kind of upset when I heard that Peter Shrager went there recently… I like that guy.

As for draft coverage, I usually watch NFL network… even that’s not great, but it’s much easier to watch Rich Eisen and crew over ESPN

Drafting for need? Targeting one guy? Seriously?

Just go away and come back Sunday. smoke

That’s how we got Coop last year targeted one guy at a position of need.

He has the Jalen Carter seal of approval.

Would perfectly in the Milton role. High athleticism in a limited role.

Being a Phillydawg is a bonus.

Well, I apologize then. It seemed like the kind of "the Eagles always do the wrong thing in the draft" defeatist comment that was rife in the boards over the years. I still catch a leftover whiff of that in the boards from time to time, and it makes my spine tingle when I do.

Be happy with any of the following tonight

Kevin Winston Jr.
Jonah Savaiinaea

TJ Sanders
JT Tuimoloau however you spell it

Ersery

Trey Amos

Revel Jr

Nick Emmonwori

Oladejo

Scourton

Landon Jackson

Norman-Lott

Josaiah Stewart

Swinson

Charles Grant

Belton

David Walker

Tate Ratledge

The replies too, division rivals mad. 🤣

They had a 1st rd grade on Coop so they felt the value was there to move up. I doubt they have Mason Taylor as a 1st rd guy.

GoDaddy!!!!

Why is everyone sleeping on Jack Sawyer? All I saw was a guy who improved every year, made impact plays and was a leader on a championship team. Seems like the kind of glue guy you'd want.

Go Daddy expected to fix the board issues by pick 97.

If they trade up to draft him, they’ll say they had a 1st round grade on him. That’s what they all say.

Whenever the Eagles pick, the board is going to crash that exact minute.

Jack Sawyer I like. Doesn't wow you, limited upside, but I could see him having a Karlaftis like career. Just a rugged workhorse pass rusher that finds a way to make plays and always dependable. Probably will never get double digit sacks, but will have a lot of years where he gets 5-8.

Coming back to this... you are asking the wrong question. So, I'll ask a better question: if we expect Ojomo to fill the role Milton Williams had last year, who on the team fills the role that Ojomo had last year? That guy isn't on the roster, they really need to draft a guy that can do that if he's available. OR, they are going to have to sign a low cost veteran FA to take those snaps.

That’s easy. Booker. 300 pound DT that runs a 4.94. Note that both Booker and Hall (5.01) have comparable speed to Ojomo, 5.04. And then there is Byron Young, who ran a 5.0. Only Sanders had a better 10 yard (1.67) than Booker’s 1.69. I think only Robinson was faster. Booker had close to 16% of the DT snaps last year. Howie has quietly been collecting reasonably fast DTs.

Frankly, my expectation is they select a 3/4 type DL more likely than a 260 pound edge and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the DT isn’t either a DL that can play both DE and DT, say Sai’vion Jones or Elijah Roberts (both are damn near as big as Williams and almost as fast), or possibly a bigger back up for Davis, say in the fourth or fifth someone like Horsely or CJ West (both with good size and decent speed).

Cosell said he simply isn’t a pass rusher.
