It didn't help that when they tried 7 man protections against 4 that Kelce and their RB were completely overmatched and beaten badly most plays as well.

That's setting the conditions to be defeated in detail, if you can't win 7 v 4 at the line good luck winning 3 v 7 downfield against a disciplined opponent.

After what happened after 2022, I hope the process is better than "Well, he's here... and a lot of coaches are scooped up, so what the hell, let's do it"

Is Slay’s contract tradeable?

Makes no sense to me since he has 4 full years. Britain Covey should be the only RFA.

The suspension may have something to do with it

The problem with Rodgers is unfixable. He’s a small guy. Very quick, good speed and hips but small. We play mostly zone and to play it well you need to tackle well. He’s willing but he’s….small.

I think Vic prefers a longer more physical outside corner if given the choice

I like Ross.  He and Scott Graham do a nice job with the preseason games.    And, it might be a sacrilege to say... but the time is fast approaching that the Eagles might want to lock up Graham to take over PBP for their radio broadcast.  Merrill is 82 years old.  And he's just not what he was.

Got to give us the equivalent of "insurmountable”.

I was thinking the same thing. He really only has three accrued years because of the suspension. If they count it that way....

If Rodgers really is an RFA, they’re definitely gonna have him compete with Ringo for the job. Ringo with 2 years experience at 23 years old is probably the better option, but I’m not a fan of his when the ball’s in the air and I’m not sure how coachable that is.

Could see it being a situation where they each start games in the few 8 weeks, and one of them eventually settles in.

No Case Keenum mention.  He was Stroud’s backup this past year.  I could see him taking a step toward coaching.  May make a real good QB coach. Vision like Moore.  Even BIgEFly with his UH roots never had Case with longevity in the NFL on his bingo card.  They had a rookie skills competition pre draft for QBs that year and only Foles, Moore and Keenum participated.   Foles had the strongest arm but his delivery was soooo slow.  He fixed that.  Moore and Keenum had the vision, technique down.  Before he graduated folks were talking about Moore as a future coach. Great understanding of the game but lacked the athleticism. Keenum graduated with NCAA records for yards and touchdowns.  Not quite as much a student as Moore when it came to plays but even better understanding of what was available on the field.  And with his years in the NFL, he has played in so many different schemes.  Maybe the next McCown.

A lot depends on what they think of Ringo. That guy has all the talent in the world and is still just 22 years old.

I don’t get the love affair with Ringo.  His upside is more than likely already reached.  A good ST’r and 1st or 2nd guy off the bench.

Maybe the PHLY guys are just wrong.

I've seen it a lot of places. OTC has it and I've seen it on BGN and Olivia Reiner said it at the Inquirer. I feel like its 50/50 depending where you look.

Like I said, I don't see why he would be an RFA based on the rules unless the suspension triggered something. It just makes a big difference between retaining him or not.

The current contract goes through 2033, but the NFL has the right to cancel in 2029.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/netflix-wants-a-sunday-afternoon-nfl-package

The NFL wants a global audience, if they can get all the games on Netflix and fans can choose which game to watch instead of Sunday ticket, then the commercials will be seen by a broader audience. They would have to customize the commercials for each country or region, state or city.

And their live events haven't been good, they've had technology issues.

Netflix should worry about existing by the time this is an option first.

@BigEd76 has him as a UFA.  Are you doubting BigEd?

He doesn't though.

2020: played 13 games

2021: played 17 games

2022: played 15 games

2023: suspended

2024: played 15 games

That should be 4 accrued seasons. I don't see why one of those wouldn't count.

No, I'm agreeing.

I'm doubting these news outlets that keep saying RFA.

A lot of discussion about Ringo..  He is still younger than a lot of CB's in this draft (Jahdae Barron, Shavon Revel, Darien Porter, etc.)

His biggest selling point from his supporters seems to be his youth.  At this point, the selling point should be his years of experience in the NFL.  If the biggest compliment you can garner is his youth, that is quite the indictment on him.   He's younger than Mitchell.  He's younger than DeJean.    And both are significantly better than him.  So, what poinnt are we really making when we say that he's still younger than the players available in this year's draft?

No, because no one is paying him $16mm at his age for one year.

Gilmore signed a 1 year, $7mm deal with the Vikings for last season. That's a decent comp for Slay. The Eagles should see if he'd cut his option bonus by ~$9mm to get it fully guaranteed, otherwise he is gone.

Absolutely.  He uses his Quarters disguise to mask the coverage, which remains zone heavy but with a lot of MOD at OCB.

Yeah, unless the 2022 season was somehow excluded as a punishment I'm not sure how he doesn't have 4 seasons accrued.

Ringo is an amazing athlete who dominated in college but he is a stiff corner. Its why he fell in the draft.  I don't know if you can teach or train someone out of that.

Rodgers should be retained and it should be his job to lose. I don’t think we had a drop off when he’d spell Slay.

And who brought in the coaches?

He’s won a Super Bowl with 2 completely different coaching staffs and almost completely different rosters, with the exception of Graham and Lane Johnson. And he did this in the salary cap era.

Howie is the best GM of his generation. Full stop.

That’s because he plays the receiver but not the ball.  It’s a self trust thing.  In the NCAA, players can have contact until the ball is in the air.  NFL coaches have to coach that out.  Ringo took that to heart and had to learn hand fighting to keep track of the receiver.  Now he just needs to add playing the ball more and from the snaps I saw this season, that was coming on. The Eagles know better than me but he is at the next step of his career.  He either takes that leap  or he is never more than a STs gunner.  I think he does and I think playing next to Rodgers probably helped that. Rodgers new this was a perform or you are out of the league season and played like that.

Yup, if you are playing C4 and the WR runs a go that's essential off-man coverage.  If they quickly run a slant as an example, then the zone rules kick-in.  You can have great zone instincts, but if you can't run with the receivers or have the length to breakup passes.. well, it's going to be tough.
