With all these picks, day 3 is when Howie is really going to go nuts. We’ll see some Olympic swimmer converting to TE for their wingspan, a formula 1 driver safety for instincts, some sumo wrestling champion, the NBA slam dunk champion, the 100m world champ, and the most athletic chess grandmaster.

You joke, but...

They run a base 3-4, they need LBs more than part-time edge guys.

Hunt and Smith can move up to the LOS in a 4-2-5 formation, so edge guys are 15-20 snap backups.

Those kind of players can be picked up in the middle rounds or for cheap in free agency.

It's much harder to find OLBs who can pass rush, play the run and credibly drop into coverage - or why they let Reddick and Sweat walk.

The edge guys are the guys that will rush the passer and occasionally drop into coverage. We don't have 'DEs' anymore. We have DTs, NTs, and Edges. We are weak at Edge and DT. We have 'numbers' at Edge right now, but in terms of talent... we are hoping for a Mekhi Becton or Zach Baun type reclamation from Uche or Ojulari. But, they are both basically one year wonders... just like Bryce Huff, the OTHER one. Ojulari has been the most consistent, but he's been a disappointment, which is why he was available and why he came for only a 1 year deal. Maybe the UGA mojo will work for him here.

Going to struggle against TE’s and elite slots…but an outstanding FS. Watched a bit of him since the pick and talked to my UT fan brother in law, I’m liking the pick.

We play zone like 98% of snaps.

He doesn’t need to play man to man against slots and TEs… just drop into his zone, know his assignment, and make the play when it comes to him.

I guarantee Howie will trade at least one of these picks this fall after watching the team in TC, and land a player to fill a hole.

He likes as much ammunition as possible, and you can get solid players for 5th rd picks in August.

That's when bad GMs overrate their draft picks over a couple exhibition games and scrimmages and are willing to trade solid players for later round picks and a little cap relief.

DE/EDGE

David Walker is still out there. Brandon Graham clone.

Que Robinson looks like a top 10 edge rusher who is still available.

Ingram-Dawkins, of course as the Milton Williams role.

Ty Robinson

CJ West

Cam Jackson

A good player will be on the board for our next pick.

If my math is correct the Eagles have 17 picks over the next 9 rounds of the NFL draft between this year and next year

Joshua Farmer does make some sense given our small-ish our EDGEs are.

Yup.

I think he'd be a perfect Milton Williams replacement.

Campbell should be a great player. If Mukuba is at least a solid starter it addresses a weakness at safety, plus he's versatile.

It was said this is a deep DT class, and they may be high on Ojomo and feel a day 3 rookie can be depth rotation.

Interested to see how tomorrow goes.

But they only play on obvious passing downs so you can fill those roster spots with "one trick ponies."

These guys are cheap to obtain, 240-250 lb speed rushers who struggle to set the edge or drop into coverage, and have to play STs to dress.

The guys who require high draft picks/big contracts are either true OLBs like Smith and Hunt, or 285+ lb 3-4 DEs who are athletic enough to move out to DE on passing downs.

These guys play 40+ snaps and are key players in this defense.

Howie getting cute

Eventhough I think Deion is overrated as a coach and Sanders is overrated as a QB, I kinda feel bad. Sorta.

Maybe Jalen Travis - I think they showed interest in him.

Listen it’s true Howie might have lost out on Grant with the move but I personally wasn’t penciling Grant in as Lane’s successor. We just won the Super Bowl after amazing moves. It’s a bit much to crush a guy for maybe losing out on a project at OT

Who do you think they tried to move up for?

Mukuba was available in 90% of PFF mock drafts , in the 3rd round.

Do I think he is a good player? Maybe. And we definitely could use a good second safety.

But the value of Makuba pick sucks.

Falcons selected Xavier Watts (consensus 48) at 96, who was consensus rated higher than Macuba.(72)

Funniest timeline would be Sanders goes back to college but has to choose a new number because his was retired

the long list of guys that visited that went earlier in the round.

That stuff is all nonsense. Watts was misjudged by the media. That doesn’t make him good value. It just makes them wrong
