Even though I am concerned about TE and DT, I am not lamenting over the state of the roster. We still have a dozen guys that played at Pro Bowl level last season.

I feel similar but, Fangio is on the record saying he feels comfortable with only 3-4 DTs since they play a lot of snaps and don't rotate as much.

I trust Howie in the evaluation of the TE market since he has been down this road with Ertz before. With Goedert, its more about pay and his injury concern. If they keep him, I think they will work something out.

The thing that stands out to me is his ability to read keys and diagnose route concepts. I imagine Vic loved him. He was up to 194 at his pro day. If he can play around that weight, he should be just fine.

Ferguson was my guy at TE. Once he went, there weren’t anymore exciting starting TE prospects unless you believe in the the Notre Dame kid. The Georgia Tech kid is the best blocker if we wanna draft an easily translatable role player. DT has thinned out. Maybe old man Robinson?

No, it's clueless fans speculating.

Howie has spoken at length about this. He doesn't do cute. We make small trades UP to get the guys we want, like Campbell and Carter.

He didn't value Grant like some fans did. It's that simple.

Fiction

Go back to moving back for Milton Wiliams and losing the NT the scout wanted Alim McNeil

He does Both and yes plenty of example of getting too cute and losing guys

Yup, Mukuba is my S2 and likely the best immediate fit for this defense (as Starks didn’t really specialize as a 2H zone safety in the same way). We all liked Winston and the ND kid, but the league has spoken.

Nice! He was my S2 as well after Starks.

We had a top 30 visit with Miami DE Tyler Baron. Good chance he’s there at 130, or maybe with a small trade up.

Yup, they’re all good. Really like the kid from Georgia, Mondon. He’s going to be a player. Kiser would be great late as well. Perfect coverage LB to push Trotter.

That all said, we got the best LB in the draft already, so I don’t know how many snaps will be there. If Dean or, god forbid, Baun get hurt then I think Campbell gets penciled in at LB on early downs.

LB is a need. They have 3 healthy LB as of now.

2024- Baun, Dean, Burks, Trotter, BVS

2025- As of today, Baun, Campbell, Trotter, Dean

Neither Dean or Campbell are healthy as of today, so going in to OTA, they have Baun and Trotter. Dean is also on the last year of his contract and we have no idea how he's going to respond to his knee injury. Even if he plays well, he's more than likely going to move on. The Eagles are NOT paying top dollar to Baun, starting money for Dean and 1st round money for Campbell. It's just not happening.

Baun is 28 and essentially on a 2-year deal. I still have a prove you weren't a 1-year flash in the pan guy mentality too. He was unbelievable in 2024 after being a nobody his entire career. He needs to show that wasn't a fluke. I think he'll be OK, but the reality is, we have 2 more years with him.

Realistically, moving forward, the LB on this team are Baun, Campbell and Trotter. I'm all for adding good players at the position.

Was listening the a podcast this morning that summed up the Sanders situation well.

Teams don't see him as a starter and he isn't worth the distractions just to be a backup.

I expect UDFA LBs

I know this is sarcasm, but it still needs to be answered. Just looking at the #1 overall pick...

2024 - Caleb Williams
2023 - Bryce Young
2019 - Kyler Murray
2015 - Jameis Winston
2011 - Cam Newton
2007 - JaMarcus Russell
2001 - Michael Vick

This isn't including top 5 QBs... it started with Steve McNair at #3 in 1995, and has just happened more and more frequently since then. The narrative about race and QBs really needs to go away. For 30 years, black QBs have been getting picked in the top 5 overall. The issue now with QBs isn't race, its coaching. College coaches aren't developing 'pro style' QBs the same way that they used to and so now the NFL is moving towards more and more 'college style' offenses as a result. It is what it is, but what it isn't... is race.

And in Philadelphia its really been 40 years, starting in 1985 with the 2nd round selection of Randall Cunningham that black QBs have been in vogue. 4 of them have gotten huge deals with the team - Cunningham, McNabb, Vick and Hurts... meanwhile, on the flip side, only Wentz got a huge deal during that time. The race debate should be dead and buried, ESPECIALLY in this city and with this fanbase. Its not, of course, and we see it brought up constantly, but it should be dead.

Yup. As an eagles fan it’s always been funny to me that it’s even an "issue” that’s talked about. You listed four for us but we also had Rodney Peete as well so for us it’s been the majority of our starters.

lol what? He literally was interviewed in the draft process and told people ‘we ain’t come to play school’. And I’m sorry…you don’t have a Manning on your roster and not play him over someone unless he clearly didn’t earn it. Arch has a lot to prove…right now he’s mid at best.

Let's see where he said that during the draft process, if he said that coming out of high school who gives two craps.

His production at Texas was not starter worthy, that is a fact, and why he is still not drafted.

I wonder if we are underestimating Byron Young and maybe even Gabe Hall at DT. Young was injured last year, but he has talent. He's 24. Ty Robinson (who I love), turns 24 in a few weeks.

One thing's for sure. Moro Ojomo is the new Milton Williams and Thomas Booker is the new Moro Ojomo as of today.

I’d be fine taking a LB. But to your point about paying Dean — LBs are critical for Fangio. And as you said we only have Baun 2 more years. So 1 year of paying 2 LBs with Dean might actually be in the cards if he recovers.

Looking forward to the early part of round 4. Teams have a break to take a look at the board and decide who to aggressively move up for. Should be a few trades early on.

Would like any of the following off the top of my head…

Ty Robinson, DT Nebraska

Tommi Hill, CB Nebraska

Teddye Buchanan, LB, Cal

Dylan Sampson RB Tennessee

Damien Martinez RB Miami

Cam Skattabo. Eff it. He’s fun.

DJ Giddens RB Kansas State

Devin Neal RB Kansas

Tory Horton WR CSU

Marcus Mbow G Purdue

The big tackle from Iowa State

Hawes, the TE from GT

The TE from Notre Dame

The DE from SMU

Jayden Blue RB Texas

Que Robinson Edge Georgia

The hyphenated guy from Georgia

The linebacker from Georgia

Rodney Peete, Vince Young, Dennis Dixon, Jarrod Johnson. Even if just UDFA, the Eagles have always had an AA QB during my lifetime.

Whomever it is will benefit, like Milton, from playing next to Carter.

Did I hope Howie could thread the needle and get him in the 3rd due to his size… sure. But I also thought we’d have to be very fortunate to get him at 96. I get the logic, I think it was good process and not go’in to quibble about Mukuba.

You have absolutely no idea how Howie ranked them. Just as likely he had a group of guys rated equally and got one.

Impressive how you can fit them all on top of your head. smoke

I have a pretty big head.

I know some have argued here that the Eagles probably just like their Edge group more than outsiders. And they very well might.

But just looking at this current Edge group, I think the potential is there for them to be one of the worst Edge groups in the entire NFL if they are at the low end of the variance.

We have Nolan Smith and Hunt who look promising, but between the two of them there hasn't even been one full season's worth of production. Nolan had a great half of a season. Hunt looked good in the playoffs but wasn't dominant or anything. And he really only played once BG went down.

Behind them you have Uche, who, let's be real has been awful since a few season ago. The Chiefs thought so little of him they barely played him. Ojulari is injury prone and the NFL told us they didn't think much of him. When he's played he's solid, but not dominant or anything. You can argue the variance allows for potential with this group. But if the Eagles get the low end of the range of potential outcomes. This group I hate to say it, has the potential to be a disaster for the Eagles in 2025. Like, the Eagles lost BG and Sweat, two significant losses. Two guys, who through November were their two best pass rushers. And don't forget, the Eagles didn't have a great pass rush in 2024. It picked up later in the season, but it was never great. That reality is lost, because it looked great in their Super Bowl run, but for much of the year it wasn't great. And of that pass rush that already wasn't great, they lost two guys who were their best pass rushers through November. Plus Milton Williams who gets a lot of pressure from the interior. And they have done very little to replace it.

I'm legit concerned about it. And concerned that in this draft they haven't done more to address it. Now, LB and Safety were concerns too. They had next to nothing next to Baun. And if Sydney Brown sucks(and he may) they had next to nothing opposite Blankenship. So the guys they chose filled a need. But man, for a team that prides itself on building through the trenches, they are taking a major Fing gamble with this Edge group if they don't address it in a meaningful way either today or in the coming months before the season. And they're not giving Fangio a ton to work with, with this group.

The Eagles exited the first 2 days with 2 guys who are likely to start on defense this year. I get the disappointment in the way the board fell but let's be realistic here too

How I feel.

Campbell is better than Dean off a torn patella, assuming the shoulder is healthy.
Makuba should be able to replace CJGJ's production. Frankly, I would be disappointed if he's not better by the end of the year.

2 starters in this class drafting at 32 every round = home run.
