Yes, this is why I said I'd take him. Not because I want him. I'd much prefer they'd take positions of need here. But it would be a potential investment. To flip him eventually for a better pick. And at worst you have a quality backup.

QB Factory keeps rollin

Once Deion is hired by Cowboys in a year he'll trade us a 1 for him

I just can't see Howie and Sirianni taking on Sanders and I like him as a QB.

They wouldn't be. They'd be taking him as an asset to trade.

Slow down Seabiscuit. You were promoting him as a day-1 or day-2 pick.

Now the trading him away for a 1st later plan at least makes a little more sense.

I hope they are looking for a DL via trade. No clue who, but try and find an established player who can come right into the fray and be very productive. You have plenty of picks to do something. I know the LB is at a decent place but Mondon is someone that could fly around I'd grab. Swinson seems like very good value now and Farmer or Deon Walker would all be fine too. OL doesn't look too exciting. Maybe just take Cam Skattebo and punish the league.

I don't understand this logic. He won't play for us, he so far isn't valued as a day 1 or day 2 pick. So the hope is we draft him in the 5th and let him ride pine for two years then trade him for a 7th?

We probably would have felt better about the draft overall if he traded up for a DT in the 3rd. That might be the biggest regret from this draft.

With the players they lost on defense, Fangio remaking the defense with his input, we can then guess that they just simply didn't value those guys as much. They must have a comfort with the current roster, and comfort with their board heading into day 3 and the plan.

I see this as a 2 year plan to reshape the defense. Next year they'll have lots of ammo to trade up and add more to the core of young starters.

I don't want him on the team, but I can't think of a better mentor for Shedeur Sanders than Jalen Hurts. If Sanders truly wants to succeed in the NFL, learning from Hurts could be the best thing for him. I don't give a you know what about race, but it's important to others and being in the same QB room and locker room with another AA QB with the leadership traits that Jalen Hurts possess could do wonders for his career. A lifetime of living as Deion's kid probably can't be fixed by one guy, but it's probably the best chance their is for him to learn.

I think he's tremendously overrated, but Sanders is a good QB. He has tools to succeed. Can he be humbled and learn to be a team first guy, or is his brand all he cares about?

He is just what Fangio wants: a guy who can roam and get interceptions. I think in a couple years he is in the 195-200 lbs range. Personally, I love the pick.

Apparently he weighed in around 196 (already) during his pro day.

Tom Brady was a Day 3 pick too so I expect Sanders to have a similar career

Hurts has already worked with him in the past from what I hear.

There's not a single scout who disliked Mukaba.

The only criticism he gets is size. I can live with one smaller safety if he has exceptional instincts. He may only get involved in 2-3 impact tackles per game.

I'm not advocating for it, but you know they at least had a conversation about it last night. He only fell this far based on his dad interfering with things and him being entitled. If they draft him I'd assume they think their culture could take care of that and they'd end up with a high pick in a trade.

There is no reason to believe he can't be close to 200 by camp in August then.

But you have to wonder how much more being in the locker room day in and day out would be.

They'll trade down to #199 and pick him there.

As was everyone else in the football world. While everyone got the journey incorrect, I will have gotten the destination correct.

Are the NFL front offices not part of "the football world"?

I'd love the stupid Gillie big hat trend to just go away.

Keep pushing targets down.

Dawn Aponte has been too cheery. She needs to go back to her roots of being miserable.

What??? Do you have proof that Watts was misjudged?? PFF and many others rate Watts higher than Macuba.

Besides at the time there were a good DE Ashton Gillotte, TE Harold Fannin, and Darien Porter CB available.!!!

I would have preferred any of them over Macuba.

Vic, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What you perceive as beauty others do not. For example, I don’t like Gillotte anywhere near as much as almost two dozen other Edges. Gannon is much too one dimensional in my opinion and costs as much in Draft capital as a two-way TE. Porter wasn’t on my Board either.

Regarding Watts, he has a particular style of Safety play, and Fangio was clearly looking for a different style of player when he preferred Makuba.

Regarding proof, just look at the numbers. The consensus of over 106 Big Boards had Watts assessed in the 40s, more than 50 spots sooner than he actually was selected.

7 more picks ahead of us.

Ingram-Dawkins

Farmer

Ty Robinson

Gunnar Helm

Main targets for me with this pick.
