APR is a great pick this late. Legit chance to make the team and carve out a long term role as the designated pass rusher at EDGE. Probably won't ever be a good run defender though. but within the role as a pass rusher, with some depth around him who can set the edge ono early downs, I like it.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

The last few picks feel like they are what you want in the 6th round. A tough draft overall, but very much a meat and potatoes sort of one. You can't make a splash every year

Short arms and run defense.

Good pass rush depth but probably will never be a good 2 way player,.

ESPN:

Pre-Draft Analysis

Powell-Ryland shoots his hands and drives tackles. He can get off blocks at the top of his rush. He times the snap, rips under the outside shoulder and bends inside as a speed rusher. He can shoot gaps when he rushes between the tackles. Powell-Ryland is a disruptive run defender who slips blocks and shoots into the backfield. He makes plays chasing from the backside. -- Steve Muench

So ultimately Howie's trade downs did lead to some extra quality swings at players. Obviously only time will tell whether one Charles Grant or Travis is better than two Hinton and Williams

I'd love to bring in BYU defensive end Tyler Batty. Kind of the opposite of APR -- big body, really good run defender, solid athleticism, needs work as a pass rusher but has potential.

As for the continues Shedeur Sanders coverage

I’m all for these puppy breakdowns!!!

yeah. I knew he was highly productive. I wonder why he is still available and no one ever had him ranked high.

Guy on bleacher report mentioned if his arms were an inch longer he'd have been drafted sooner... maybe a full round earlier. So, that might be a reason for it.

Yes, if he beats his man and makes him miss he will be a "disruptive run defender" but when he doesn't he's going to be put in a U-Haul

UDFAs already signing

I hope someone drafts him

Age might have hurt him too.

Shadeur Sanders Shadeur Sanders Shadeur Sanders Shadeur Sanders Shadeur. Shadeur! Shadeur Sanders Shadeur Sanders Shadeur Sanders, Shadeur Sanders, Shadeur Sanders Shadeur Sanders. Rock solid draft.

Turned out alright. Shame he missed some guys the last two days but they may come out of the draft with a starter, two rotational guys next year, and one or two OL projects. For picking where they did that's not bad at all.

Powell-Ryland is a terrible run defender, right? Short arms, but the rest of his profile is pretty impressive. Looks to be a totally different class of pass rusher from the Tarron Jacksons and Patrick Johnsons of the world. Really legit.

Like this draft. Really good finish today. Now to begin preparing for the UDFA push. And Monday the next round for free agents.

Has their 5th round pick been made yet?

They still feel light at CB in particular

He had 25 sacks in the last two seasons for VT. 16 in 2025 and 9 in 2023

How the hell did he have that many sacks and last that long even if he was 26? That's crazy.

CB Cobee Bryant is still available.

He'd be a great UDFA

RB Damien Martinez is a guy we met with, would be real nice depth.

DE Tyler Batty for some run defense with upside.

DE Jah Joyner met with us and has some tools

TE Luke Lachey has potential.

WR Nick Nash for a big slot

OT Logan Brown has all the tools but probably wouldn't sign with us given the picks we made there.

I never would have imagined that in a shallow draft and a deep roster that we'd make 10 picks this draft. That said, there seems to be a good amount of quality developmental pieces in this group.

  • Round 1, Pick 31: LB Jihaad Campbell, Alabama

  • Round 2, Pick 64: S Andrew Mukuba, Texas

  • Round 4, Pick 111: DT Ty Robinson, Nebraska

  • Round 5, Pick 145: CB Mac McWilliams, Central Florida

  • Round 5, Pick 161: LB Smael Mondon, Georgia

  • Round 5, Pick 168: C/G Drew Kendall, Boston College

  • Round 6, Pick 181: QB Kyle McCord, Syracuse

  • Round 6, Pick 191: T Myles Hinton, Michigan

  • Round 6, Pick 207: T Cameron Williams, Texas

  • Round 6, Pick 209: OLB Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Virginia Tech

Campbell and Mukuba have a path to a starting role from Day 1.
Robinson has an easy path to rotational DT snaps.

Powell-Ryland being an older prospect with fairly developed pass rush moves could actually see some pass rush snaps if Uche and/or Ojulari don't earn their snaps.

MacMac and Mondon will easily get a shot at ST snaps and making an impact there, even as rookies. They will need to earn snaps on defense, but Mondon could become ILB3.

And I LOVE getting 3 OL for Stoutland to work with and look to develop some nice depth to go with our top heavy OL. Ideally none of these guys see the field for 2025, but could develop well in practice and become interesting pieces for the future. If Hinton OR Williams can develop into at least a swing OT, these are great selections. If one can beat the odds and become the RT of the future... so much the better.

Yeah, that's a lot of optimism. But, why not be optimistic. We're Super Bowl Champs!!!
