If I noticed a trend in this year's picks, it was athleticism. Almost universally, the Eagles picks this year were off the chart on the RAS score.

I don't think that is an accident -- with the ever increasing athleticism at the QB position, your front 7 better be pretty athletic if on defense you are going to keep guys like Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes from getting loose. The NFC East now has Jayden Daniels, Jaxson Dart and Dax, none of whom rank near the very top of athleticism, but all of whom can make first downs happen with their feet if you let them. And even on the O-line, it is nice if your guys can get out in front and lead the way for a scrambling Hurts.

They still feel light at CB in particular

Ringo, Q, and Coop starting backed up by Jackson outside and MacMillan inside. Half their DB/Ss have CB capabilities

How the hell did he have that many sacks and last that long even if he was 26? That's crazy.

He just turned 23 in February. So not that old to make him drop.

Setting aside any off field stuff we don't know about, he is not and probably never will be a good run defender. Basically, if he doesn't immediately slip a block and get the TFL, he gets moved.

This has been a trend ever since we started drafting well...

I'm guessing he gets shifted to OG

Not saying it's good or bad but this is the weirdest Eagles draft in years and I think myself and others were wrong about a lot of things.

-I could be wrong but I don't think they drafted a single guy they brought in for a top 30 visit

-I expected heavy defense but not their first five picks to all be defense

-No OL picks until round 5 is really surprising

-No TE pick at all is really surprising

-No TE, RB, or WR is shocking

The way they traded down so many times from the late 3rd round and on leads me to believe that they really didn't like this draft and just wanted more dart throws.

Doesn't matter, edge rushers aren't every down players in this system, maybe a 3-4 DE who can move out to 4-3 DE, but not undersized pass rushers.

So don't spend a lot of assets on pure pass rushers, either a top 3-4 DE or an OLB who can play in space and rush the passer

Mitchell, DeJean, Ringo, Jackson and now MacMac, plus some other holdovers. Very young group....Only Jackson has any length in the tooth.

You basically only have one backup outside CB in a position where guys do tend to miss games

Sadly I think they extend Goedert

Eli Ricks.

They very likely had a visit with Jihaad, but because he’s from Philly they don’t have to disclose it and it doesn’t count against the 30

Don’t know about extending but he’s definitely here in 2025.

Why is that sad?

I totally agree. I love the pick.

But people see great athleticism and 16 sacks and wonder why he's still available?

It's the 7th round, you're not getting Reggie White.

He's a great pass rusher to have as your 5th EDGE and can maybe be something more with development, but you better have a bunch of other guys on the roster who can set the edge.

Even if that's the case, only drafting one guy from their top 30 visits is rare.

The rest of our division drafted all the guys that visited us. Next year we have to only have scrubs visit

Yeah, maybe Howie learned that lesson picking a 6.03 RAS guy (Reagor) over a 9.69 guy (Jefferson). That one is still unforgivable, but it has been smooth sailing ever since.

That's where the 'holdovers' come in. Ricks is still around. And while not my preference, I would throw DeJean outside in a pinch if necessary.

You can't have tons of everything. The next guy on the depth chart might be the vet coming in to sit on the PS and step up if needed.

Good. Martinez is gone.

Pretty sure he said the only pre-draft contact they had with him was a single conversation with Washburn (the DE/OL coach) at, like, a pro-day or something.

Sounds about right
