With the caveat that I have no strong opinion on this either way, here's my question for those that are disappointed with the Patullo hire -- is it simply a reaction that because Brian Johnson didn't work, Patullo is a risk as well? Or was it a desire to see some new ideas come in?

Personally, I like the idea of some continuity for Hurts, but I am troubled having an OC with no play calling experience. Even Johnson did it in college. I'd like to see someone like Reich as a consultant, or the QB coach.

He's never called plays before. So we'll likely get a strong dose of Nick and it's better when Nick doesn't call plays

Saw someone throw out the idea of Frank Reich, and I like it if he is interested.

Reich as Offense scheme consultant to work with Patullo on play game planning and calling. Keep the scheme that just won the SB

They can just have Stout call 60% of the plays.

They still have the most important offensive coach in Stout. The run game,  as well as marrying that to the pass game... it all goes through Jeff Stoutland.

It's a combo of things for me.

I wanted someone with play calling experience. His lack thereof makes me concerned Nick will get too involved in it. Similarly, I would want someone that would challenge Sirianni. I'm concerned that Patullo is too close and will be a yes man more than anything. I think Brian Johnson was scapegoated more than he deserved but the whole point of firing him was the offense was stale and they wanted fresh ideas. I don't really see what Patullo brings to the table to keep it from getting stale.

The good news is that we should be better off with Patullo at OC than having no OC at all.

I think they should have hired the blog to run the offense.

Well then....

Prepare to be amazed!

Every time I hear Kevin Patullo, it's overwritten in my head by someone singing it like Jason Derulo....

That, plus no previous OC experience either. Everyone needs to get their feet wet somewhere but with our roster, I'd have rather brought in someone like Reich for OC if he were interested. If not, then there are still other options that would've made sense, but I'll hold out until we have see the offense on the field before getting too worked up since there's literally nothing to assess from Patullo yet.

If we went with my approach during the season then he gets that record

If we lose Slay, I wonder if our old pal (and my guy) Rasul Douglas would come back to end his career.

Also don't know how much stock you put into it but Patullo's never had any sniff of interest from other teams. For a team that went to the SB twice in 3 seasons you'd think he would have someone trying to interview him.

Closest thing he got was his agent saying the Saints were super interested in him for OC who never gave him an interview.

Patullo? Great, another emotional guinea

I hope Patullo trash talks fans with Siri now that he's getting high up in the organization. He needs to start showing his power.

Totally understand the argument against hiring from within, and made those same arguments years ago in the Doug era.

But with Hurts having a new OC every year, I'm wondering if it actually starts to become a strength rather than a weakness.

He's basically getting exposure to a bunch of different offensive minds without changing teams, so maybe it's not so bad for him to continue progressing into "owning" the offense, given where he is in his career right now.  A lot of those type of journeyman QBs have become NFL coaches for that reason.

I sense greatness.

I knew a guy names Parks once.  He was quite possibly the biggest D-bag I've ever had the displeasure of knowing.  What is one supposed to do if their name is Parks?  There's no other path in life.  I'm very nervous about this hire.

In Mexico it is hard to get US programming so alot of us have tried various firesticks, vpns etc.  They never worked great.  A friend turned me on to these and I haven't looked back.  Had it for about 8 months and it works good.  Quality is good.  Plus you get access to subscription services such as Max, Paramount etc.

Almost too good to be true but so far it is...
