Honestly i thought that was a great answer…in a very kind way he said, ‘you all overvalued him. He’s going to come in and we expect him to compete and we think we got him right about where we wanted to.’

Sure. BUT, they also got him 2 rounds after they had already selected a different QB. Did they plan on drafting two?

Him still being around is a legacy thing…he was the innovator of the draft hype and commercialization for the media. IDK that he’s ever truly had a good take, he’s just the original…and kept around for nostalgia (and i think so us die hard fans have another person to make fun of).

Yep.

Mel Kiper is the NFL draft. The draft is what it is because he pioneered covering it.

I dont care if he is a caricature these days. I wont watch any other coverage. It has to be ESPN. Maybe Ill consider something else when Mel is done with it.

Kiper's. That's why he was pushing it so hard!

17 yard average is pretty good

Just some back story on APR. Va Tech's defense wasn't very good. He was often double teamed and triple teamed. When that didn't work they ran plays to the other side of the field away from him. Yet, he still had 16 sacks, including Cam Ward and our newly acquired McCord. He's a beast with good instincts and swallows up the run on the way to the QB. He's got a good set of tools already. If he takes the teaching and hits the weights, he'll absolutely feast next to our DT's.

I'm sure he fell because he doesn't have the expected measurables, a lot of draft projections don't think he'll produce at the NFL level.

I think he measured as expected. Solid athlete, short arms. Disagree with you on the run game. He gets moved at the point of attack. Maybe he can get stronger but OL are always going to be able to get into his pads because of this.

I like him a lot as a third down pass rusher. Good prospect for that role. Don't think he can ever be an every down player though.

I guess thats how we had to get guys?

Someone was saying on twitter these guarantees havent really meant anything in philly. So to say, those players still frequently get cut.

Typically you think it means the team must really like him so he has a good shot to make it. But that hasnt necessarily been true.

Who’s number is that??

Oregon DB. Another slot guy. I was reading he had 5.5 sacks for Duke one season before transferring. So good for zone blitz.

Woke up, got to the airport and checked out Day 3 results after arriving. Really glad the Browns took Shedeur at #144 if there was any truth at all to the Eagles having any interest at #145.

Much happier with drafting McCord at #181. He’ll battle DTR in camp for the QB3 spot with zero nonsense and distraction. He can play a bit; it’ll be interesting to see if he can be developed. I still preferred Tanner McKee’s college tape, however.

A bit surprised the Eagles didn’t draft a TE or RB at all. I suspect Ferguson going a bit earlier than expected had an effect on their plans there.

He WAS a slot guy, but seems the eagles will be trying him at S.

I guess some guys are getting over 200k

Yeah we have gone 300+ in previous years.

Funny thing, I noticed a tweet today saying some Steelers player got 30k which is the highest theyve ever gone for a non-QB UDFA. Cheapos.

Stoutland and Howie sleeping

Vick Fangio is so, so important for the future of the team.

Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Jordan Davis, Dejean, Campbell, Ty Robinson…even, to a lesser extent, Carter….

All of these guys could be used in a variety of ways and alignments. I say that both as a compliment and a concern.

It’s going to be a critical challenge to use each of these guys in a way that best suits their unique talents…because they are ALL some form of a tweener, but all very talented. Tweeners can impose mismatches or they can suffer from them, depending on how their coaches use them. We’ve got an entire defense full of tweeners. Fangio made something special of that last year.

Speaking of Mel Kiper anyone ever notices that everyone subconsciously tries to talk like him around draft time?

Say prospect’s name, then follow it up with their height and weight.

John Smith… 6’3, 220 pounds….

No one does that when talking about players in any other capacity. No one goes "The Eagles just signed Josh Uche… 6’1, 240 pounds….”

And you know someone’s a dork trying to sound like Mel when they say the word pounds. Any other time a player’s weight comes up casually it’s always just the number. "Hey, how big is Jordan Davis?” "6’6, 340”
