Can we not do this? I don't care who goes and who doesn't. Clearly the team gave guys the option and is OK with it.

Im trying to keep it football related and correlate this to decision making after we heard Siri fire shots about McCords progressions and fast processing. Hurts is now back under the microscope!!! Super bowl honeymoon phase is over. We are in a new season!!

There is a difference regarding the injury discussion.

Sydney Jones recovered from the injury that occurred before the draft. Unfortunately, he proved to be injury prone. Dickerson recovered from the injury that occurred before the draft. He as not shown to be injury prone.

Dean seems to be injury prone. Same with Goedert. If anyone looked to be injury prone when drafted, it was Dickerson.

You bashing and trolling on Hurts is how I know things are still normal around here. If you ever stop bashing him, that's a sign of the apocalypse.

You may not care but others might be interested. Lurie is letting the players decide if they want to

I haven't seen complaints. Only posts letting people know about Barkley and Hurts

We are all good.

Hurts is super bowl MVP.

But McKee or McCord may very well be the next one!

They got to stop scheduling the division games to close the season - more time than not it seems to be a meaningless affair.

There's a much higher probability that division games will impact playoff seeding than non-divisional games.

You can eliminate non-conference games from the end of the season, because they have minimal impact on playoff tiebreakers - only really coming into play in the 'strength of victory' piece.

Then, you can go to any conference games, but how many more times will we get a premier matchup between division leaders in the final week that way?

As it was, we had the biggest game of the regular season on the very last game of the regular season with how they did it now. It was a playoff game, essentially. Vikings @ Lions was a huge matchup with huge impact... Winner gets #1 seed, Loser gets #5. (One of the reasons that I think they shouldn't touch the current playoff seeding format. Would the teams have been as invested as they were if, for example, the winner gets #2, but the loser gets #3?)

Division games count heavily in tiebreakers, both in determining the division winner, as well as the overall conference rankings for the playoffs. And who's to say that non-division games would be more meaningful. The Rams chose to rest players even though doing so hurt their playoff seeding, as they moved from #3 to #4 with the loss... and in so doing, actually "chose" to take on the loser of the Vikings-Lions matchup with the two best records in the NFC facing off. And the Bucs and Falcons both had every thing to play for in the final week, specifically because of the division matchup. Had their division tie breaker already been decided going into the last game, then its probably meaningless for both. But as it was, both teams had to play to win. A Falcons win with a Bucs loss would have had them finish with tied records, but the Falcons would have gotten in based on division records!

There is no perfect system, but this gets it right as much as any other system would, if not more.

Too bad Shedeur decline his green room invite. No one would be talking about how long Quinn or Levis had to wait back there anymore

If he had, he would have been much more of a sympathetic character.

The real question is:

Does Secret Service clear Big Dom to visit or does Big Dom clear the Secret Service to be there?

I think Sydney Jones was both injury prone and a legitimately bad pro. Dickerson was injury prone in college AND actively injured....and a really good pro.

I posted about a week ago...for actively injured players, I think it is a major line in the sand if they are going to be healthy or recovering from injury for their rookie year. Dickerson (I don't recall) may or may not have missed some of training camp, but he was healthy, playing, improving, and ultimately starting as a rookie. Jones spent his entire rookie season rehabbing and was activated for a game in December.

Losing an entire rookie season has a big impact on someone's development.

I don't care about Jalen Hurts political beliefs, in the same way that I don't care about DJT's favorite sports team. It's all irrelevant to my opinion of how competent they are. Keep on keeping on, to the both of them. I continue to enjoy both of their recent victories immensely! 🇺🇲 🦅

I was excited about Jones. That was a sad experiment lol

I used a much more literal definition than you did. I like your definition better than the one I used.

Anything less than 50% of the snaps is by definition a 'role player'. Some roles are bigger than others, and some are becoming more valuable and others are diminishing.

Someone's role was diminishing last season on Dline ph34r

I think the 3rd round was the appropriate time to take that gamble.

Yup, Alexander (25 in August) would've made a bit more sense as a plug and play guy for a contender but the Giants need to get some hits too. Norman-Lott is 23 (couple picks earlier), Vernon Broughton 23 (couple picks later) and not really a 3T, Deone Walker 21 but stinks and has back issues (couple picks ahead of us), and then our guy Ty who turns 24 this week. Not exactly a young group...

NIL is going to result in an older average age of draftees.

More Mukuba propaganda.

Disagree with basically all of this.

Howie commented on the major aspects of your post: Longevity, injury and position.

Howie specifically mentioned that he was drafted for the long term, and that they felt they didn’t need to draft for immediate need. I think this indicates they aren’t viewing this as a 1 contract pick.

They have no concerns on the injury. So again, long term, not a one contract player.

And he’s clearly viewed as an OLB, in the Van Ginkel role, not as a ILB. Howie specifically referenced "PSU” players, referring to Parsons and Carter, who switched from off ball LB to EDGE.

It was a swing for the fences pick. They felt comfortable with the injury and while most teams saw him as a MLB which lowers his value, they see him playing a key position at OLB with a skill set demand that most teams simply don’t have, which raises his value to the eagles.

What you are saying and what RLC has said are not mutually exclusive.

Howie has made his major moves and doesn't need to free up 2025 cap room. So he's more concerned with total cap room spread over the two seasons.

Since you can roll over cap room, he wants 2025 cap room to have more options this year, but won't create it if he can reduce the total cap hit by keeping Huff for this season.

His break on the ball there was pretty crazy

Wonder which of the former players show up. ESP already said he has seen Becton there. CJGJ would be interesting to gaige if he really is upset about the trade despite his public comments that he isn't.

I (mostly) agree with Iggles_Phan on this. The one exception is CB3. On some teams that is a 40% role. In Fangio’s defensive scheme, and with DeJean as the player, the snaps soar from 40% to 90%, and the first snap of each game sees that role on the field as a starter.
