I'm still a little confused on Campbell's surgery. Those surgeries you're usually in a sling for a good amount of time and takes a while to rehab. So if he had it when did he have it? Because I don't think he would be able to be at the combine or running around like he did at the draft if he did.

Outside... you pretty much just have to worry about what guy is farthest outside and stick with him. There are different wrinkles along the way, but that's the abridged version.

Depends on the call but even in Trix it's only true if you're iso'd against a 3x1 look, otherwise you're pattern matching

At this point it feels like Goedert has won the staring contest. No one wants to trade anything of value for his contract and pay him $15.5mm for one year (or give him a big extension). With cash of $15.5mm and a cap number of $11.76mm, you're adding ~$3.75mm of dead money which isn't nuts. So I think we end up keeping him at this point -- maybe you offer to fully guarantee ~$12mm this year, he cuts $3.5mm, add a dummy year next year that forces a post June 1 cut designation next offseason. But otherwise, I think they just keep him instead of cutting him post June 1.

Agreed. Goedert has all the leverage at this point. It's going to come down to how stubborn do the Eagles want to be about this. It's a little bit trickier than the Ertz situation as he was already paid I believe and Eagles could wait it out until they got an offer they liked. If Eagles really don't want to pay his bonus and they can't agree on a restructure, I doubt they will want him on the field during TC. You also have to wonder where Dallas head is at. I would feel a little salty about how the last few months went down after winning the SB.

The weight issue is overblown. Word is he was at 190 at his pro day. I would love for Howie to sign all the draft choices before the rookie camp. Get these kids in the S and T training and participating in Phase 1. But note also that Q is an inch taller and 193 and no one calls him small. McCollum is 6’3” and 195 and he isn’t "small”. Ricks is 6’2” and 188.

He was 194 at his pro day. Now we have to see if that was a real playing weight or just a quick fix to bump his weight up.

You’re comparing a heat-seeking missile at safety to a bunch of cornerbacks and a scrub like McCollum, who hopefully won’t make the roster And also doesn’t play the position with anywhere near the physicality of Mukuba. There’s basically no point in comparing them.

If they are adamant about not paying him the option bonus/salary for 2025, then he can't touch the field at all (OTAs or training camp) and risk an injury which would force the Eagles to pay him (or workout an injury settlement to cut him). If I were advising Howie, I'd tell him to just let DG play out the contract, add ~$3.75mm to the dead money total, and hope for a good comp pick. You're buying a draft pick for $3.75mm in 2026 cap space basically.

PFF Steve and Sam didn't like Campbell as much as some others as an Edge. They see him as an off ball LB.

Seahawks, Patriots Lead 2025 Draft Report Card Report

The Seahawks, Patriots, and Giants lead our 22nd annual report card on draft report cards, while the Bengals and Dolphins won no accolades.

Seattle always drafts well. Schneider is just a short notch below Howie. Really wanted Arroyo and Emmanwori could be their new Kam Chancellor. Also liked Milroe as a gadget guy with a lot of upside. They still need a QB. Darnold is better than Smith but still not good enough.

I think the rookies will all be participating in rookie camp as part of the CBA that gives them protections under the NFLPA.

Phase one is now in week 2. Next Monday it goes to allowing some on the field drills with the coaches. I think the rookies will be there for, rookie camps, as you state but I also want them available for the rest of OTAs, Phase 1, 2 and 3. That would literally give the S and T staff five weeks to work with them before the six weeks of down time. Hence my sign them this week comment.

I'm not even sure I'd say Darnold is better than Geno.

Disagree. I'll take Smith over Darnold. Especially on a team who has a weak OL

Sounds like Kendall could be moved to guard at his size and his RAS score. Although i believe they announced him as a center. Outside the box thinking maybe if they think Kendall can be a starting C that if jurgens isn’t ready he can fill in or if steen/green fail at G they can move jurgens back to guard and go with Kendall at center but i don’t think that’s likel

That thought crossed my mind too. It would be way outside the box though.

It looks like DG is staying for the 2025 season. He is still good and there are back-up in place behind him. It would be drop off if he misses games.

Beyond that the team does not have a true replacement on the roster yet. Surprised that they did not target any TE in the draft just completed. No trade either. If they wait until next draft to add TE, it would waste the upcoming season to get the new TE learning the system.

Really? Was listening to a Ringer podcast where I learned that Seattle has drafted dozens of OL since Russell Okung in 2010. None of them have made the Pro Bowl. I'd say they are fine, but not noteworthy at drafting.

Gargano said the talk about Howie trying to trade up on day 2, the Eagles tried to trade up for Fannin.

Makes sense cause i believe the QBs coach has a connection to fannin. Frankly fannin can be used similarly to how the eagles used Ertz and long before him how they hoped to use LJ smith. Where blocking he wouldn’t be great but pass catcher they can move around and create a mismatch.

Belichick is a circus with that gold digging girlfriend of his. He has her working for the team in UNC, she's made him her ****. Thank goodness gracious the Eagles never hired that guy.

You can say that again. Also, I don't think the price matters to the Eagles as much as it might to Goedert and his agent. The problem with Goedert isn't his talent, injury history or age although I think those are factors. The big issue is his value over a lower cost replacement.

Eventually, sure, but in his rookie season? I'm not as sure that's a foregone conclusion.

I think he’s going to have ups and downs early in the season as a rookie. Mitchell is really not the norm. Even dejean needed a couple weeks before he got inserted into his full time role (various reasons). I do think the hope has to be by the end of the year he’ll be far enough along to be competent. But like you said not sure it’s a foregone conclusion he’ll just be there day 1 nor his rookie season.

Tend to think the eagles let brown, mukuba, cine and McCollum get the reps in mini and training camp. If they don’t like where they are at then i kind of see someone like Justin Simmons being added. I believe last year simmons waited all offseason then in august sign with atlanta.

Does he have leverage? It's been proven that no NFL team wants him at his price, let alone passing him an extension. The Eagles are basically vindicated in their stubbornness.

He might be smart to take what they're offering.

He said Howie was disappointed they couldn't go up and get him. And were willing to give up quality draft capital from 2026 to do it, but no teams wanted to trade down.

Unclear based on Gargano's words whether he was THE target rather than just one of multiple, but he said Fannin was a guy they really wanted.

Kind of agree…the thing that worked against Goedert was the strength of this year’s draft class

It makes sense to me fannin was a guy they liked and wanted to move up for in 3 ways

  1. Qb coach has a connection. They probably already liked him through scouting then had more info then just what they saw on tape and scouted with that.

  2. Like i said previous post when i watched him he reminded me of what the eagles envisioned Lj smith could be years ago out of Rutgers and can be used in ways that the eagles used ertz.

  3. By getting him in the draft they’d might have been able to avoid the situation they are in with goedert at the moment. Cause they could have even better leverage to say we will just go with fannin if we can’t come to an agreement for 2025. The eagles lose goedert then calceterra and Harrison are your top 2 tight ends. Thats not good enough. Also just assuming the raiders won’t ask for more than you are willing to give for a cheap contract in Mayer. Mayer has 2 years left of a rookie contract. if the raiders can’t get more than a 4th or 5th they might view his value better as TE 2 then that pick then look to deal him next offseason

Dean Smith is spinning in his grave.
