If he goes down, the offense changes. We could have Derrick Henry and Bijan Robinson as our #2 and #3 RBs and the offense would have to change if Barkley went down. Once Barkley either gets injured or ages out, we are going to start throwing more again. That's the backup plan.

Barkley averaged 2.5 ypc in a pretty important game last season and we still seemed to manage okay offensively.

Who was the last player who was a rookie mini camp invite that then signed a contract to come back for real mini camp and then made the final 53? I'm talking rookie, not a guy like Parris Campbell.

Tired of the ‘grades’ already. Mostly positive but some Mukaba value bashing. At this point none of it matters until they start practicing and playing

Yep, at the end of the day it's still more of a crapshoot than all the articles, analysis, and talking heads make it seem like. You just don't know until these kids put the pads on and get immersed into the offensive/defensive systems. Ditto for FAs, as we all saw with Baun. Nobody could've ever expected how well he'd play here until he actually got out there and showed what he could do. Conversely, nobody expected Huff to flame out like that either given the year he had with the Jets prior to coming here. He's so much of an afterthought now, I have to keep reminding myself he's even on the roster. Like Mora says, we think we know but we just don't know.

Re: Mukuba. He was the best zone safety in the draft. The problem is that he's small. Well, we have monsters on the DL and just drafted a big ILB on top of it. Our slot CB is also very big for his position. Our two starting CBs are well-above average in size.

For a heavy zone team and one that can stop the run with 6-7 players, Mukuba is a great fit. If Drew has to make 5-10 tackles a game, then we're dead anyway.

Siri is like Hurts…he just wins. Sometimes you don’t know how, but he does it. Hell, he could and possibly should have been fired for the Jags game this last season, but after that near disaster everything clicked. Since the advent of the salary cap and FA, this past year the Eagles by the end of the year probably had the most stacked roster of the era. It speaks volumes to his leadership to keep that many egos together and focused on a singular goal. I think the dynasty era "Patriot way’ was a little excessive at time, but I’m hoping that more players take the Devonta route coming new contract time.

I could summarise it badly ripping off Gary Player. The more I practice, the luckier I get. I suspect both Hurts and Sirianni reflected on that post SB loss and realised that what they did was overall good, but needed to be better in their roles. If you put the work around your core responsibilities, you have a greater awareness of things going on. For Sirianni, it was changing how managed the roster and opening himself into different areas. For Hurts, it was reflecting on that offseason and perhaps how his play deteriorated as he pushed harder on things.

Fair to say that the competitive friction in their relationship, when controlled, benefits the other.

Bigly lol

Its the growth mindset. Howie grasped it. I try to. Even professionally, there comes a time to Unlearn what you have learned…

My current job demanded that and we have have been wildly succesful

An employer of mine pushed everyone to do the growth mindset stuff over 10 years ago. Those who took it on are doing very good jobs up the chain of command, those who didn't are largely where they were. Not meant as a disrespect, but as a reality.

2.5 YPC why though? I personally don’t think it’s game over if something happened with Barkley but I don’t see teams selling out to stop Dillon or Shipley either. There’s plenty of other talent on the field, it just wouldn’t be as dominant.

I’d be surprised if they don’t pick up the option. Isn’t the number something like $12M? While it may be an overpay, I think the position and cost certainty is worth that price.

The guy that discovered Uranus wanted to name it George. (Full name Georgium Sidus).

They are still trying to grab as many eyes and clicks as they can. That's where the money is. So, let them have at it, and just don't jump in and give them the thing they crave the most.

I had held out out hope a Davis extension could be reached before they had to trigger the option. I see him as an ascending player with the right attitude to reach his potential, which remains massive. I still hope they can get something done before he has the one big season that will make him too expensive to resign along with Carter.

True. But KC stacked the LOS, leaving the receivers 1 on 1. That was a big part of Barkley’s impact on the game.

100%. They determined pre-game that they were not going to let Barkley beat them and they wanted to put the game on Hurts' shoulders. Not a terrible game plan. Trouble is, Hurts balled out on them, and their offense gave them no chance.

Final score 40-6.

He couldn't have ended the season with better games.

Precisely

KC sold out to stop sawuon and the WRs ate them alive

Do FA signings still impact comp picks or are we past that point?

So, now that the draft is behind us and we have the long dry spell of anything of significance to come out regarding the team... I figured why not stir up a little controversy amongst the group and ask you to identify the top 5 contributors last season to the success the team had. (Not just the Super Bowl game itself, but the entire run.)

I'll go first:

1 - Saquon Barkley - in my mind there's no other option for this. He completely changed the way the offense operated.

2 - Jalen Carter - this guy just sucks up so much attention that you can't do anything offensively without figuring out how to deal with him first.

3 - Zach Baun - Vic says that his system doesn't work without strong LB play, and man did we get it from him all year long.

4 - Cooper DeJean - This one might be a little surprising this high, but he didn't enter the lineup until Week 5, and that's when the defense really took off. He's a weapon on this defense and teams have to find new ways to attack us, because our NCB is a huge strength of the team.

5 - Jalen Hurts - He carried himself very well with the change in offensive philosophy and the team turning into a massive running team. He could have sulked. He didn't.

With only 5 to choose from its really hard to not leave a bunch off the list. But that's my list. Honorable mentions to go the entire OL, you can't be a running team like they were, and you can't have a record setting RB without a great OL. Equally, honorable mention to AJ Brown and Davonta Smith for their roles being diminished and handling it like pros (mostly... there was that little flare up with AJ and Jalen at one point). And finally honorable mention to Q. The whole secondary really balled out, but Q played like a hardened vet from Day 1. He and DeJean really spoiled us regarding what to expect from rookies. Just so many guys played huge roles in the whole thing its hard to narrow it down to so few, but that's the challenge. I mean, even Oren Burks played a huge role in his limited time. We expected the defense to falter a bit when he stepped in for Dean... and he, frankly, might have been even better than Dean was during his brief stint. So many heroes... and just one goat (the other kind, not GOAT)... Bryce Huff.

Not anymore. All are in play now.

He has everything at his advantage to be great. The only thing stopping him is himself. He has 7 former college teammates, a DC who knows how to use him and a scheme next to a dominate player who should free him up to be 1v1 A LOT. If he can get himself in to shape where he can play constantly play 30+ snaps a game, not just as a NT, but a DT on passing downs, he should have a huge year.

Jackson went at 72 and the Eagles picked at 96. Moving up 25 spots would have cost 96 plus a 2026 3rd. I didn’t like Jackson that much. Josaiah Stewart went to the Rams at pick 90. Moving up 7 spots for him would have made more sense. I personally liked Stewart much more than Jackson.

I like Ty Robinson as a Big DE in the 3 DL scheme far more than Jackson, who is basically BG sized. Did not like Jackson’s bend. I like what Hunt showed last year more than I like Stewart. (Hunt is actually bigger and so is Huff. Stewart as an OLB in coverage is basically Huff.). I remain a bit curious about Gabe Hall. (Who already is at 96, pardon the fluke observation.). Has the athleticism for big DE/DT type. Hurtt basically ran a 3 DL scheme and Fangio tend towards that. Note the "DE” the Eagles lost, Sweat, changed his number and designation to LB last year. I really think that Fangio wants OLBs that can set the edge not Edges that can’t drop in coverage. I also think he wants some DTs that can slide outside to big DE.
