I don’t know how anyone can defend involvement in raping/molesting children. That’s the most despicable crime you can think of. Truthfully the Lewinsky scandal was a dark chapter for Dems. It's fair to say that it did not affect how Clinton performed the duties of the presidency, but it certainly could have if Lewinsky ended up being a foreign agent with leverage over a sitting president.

The right overplayed it, but the unified defense of Clinton from Dems was a bad look.

All that said, Trump is of much lower character than any president we've had since maybe Harding. That includes Nixon, who had character issues but whose bad behavior was driven more by extreme paranoia than low character.

For all his bluster if Trump would (and I believe has) sell out his supporters if the price was right. He's a transactional a-hole who scruples to nothing.

There are no good characters in Washington. Yes, this Epstein stuff is major. But that point remains. And so, you cant really factor that in. How good of a person that person is is probably the least important quality required to run the country. When looking at two bad people as choices at the battle box, I chose the better president. Which is the entire point of voting. Its not about who you want to be friends with.

Yes. Clearly Clinton getting a blowie from an adult isnt comparable to the alleged things Trump is already found guilty of according to CVON. But The point is as you alluded to, that they can still do the job well in spite of character flaws. Trump was still the far better president than Harris could have been. So, it was the right choice. If and when he is found guilty for involvement in trafficking everyone will be on the same side hoping for the most severe punishment possible.
